We were staying in a hotel nearby and just happened to find this place when we look for restaurants with good reviews. Very glad we came here for dinner! They did take some time to put in the order but service was really quick and food was absolutely delicious! Totally recommend getting that half roasted chicken! Chicken paella was really lovely. It was in a shallow dish with not so much portion size because it was just a little bit of rice and some pieces of chicken in there. Quite a large amount of snap peas though so a good way to get some veggies in! Grilled vegetable side was quite nice. Good charr on the vegetables and they actually tasted nice as well. Got the crispy chicken strips as an appetizer to get some protein in. Chicken was really flavorful and the perfect amount of crispiness, and it didn't feel too unhealthy deep fried or anything. Came with a honey mustard sauce that was beautiful! We actually kept some of that sauce to have with the other food. Barbecue pork ribs were a nice one as well! I'm not usually a fan of pulled ribs because they are usually quite fatty but this one had a good amount of meat as well. Quite soft and tender and actually came off the bone very easily. Biggest highlight of the meal was that Half Roasted Chicken! Such a beautiful item! Chicken with cooked so soft and so perfect. It actually just fell off the bone! I tried to pierce it with a fork and give it to my brother and it literally fell off the bone! Quite a big portion size and very reasonably priced as well. Total value for money here! It did take some time to come out though because they actually roast the chicken after you put in the order. Not beforehand. Overall really recommend this place and I wouldn't mind going again. read more

Service was very accommodating. It was cold outside despite all the outdoor heaters they have along the Plaza Reiel.. They had us sit on their second floor dining area. This restaurant was full and appeared to be a favorite Now the food. Let's start with the veal. It was soft and obviously roasted slow.. Ranked high on another travel website. Catalan chicken was to my opinion, overcooked, but sauce was prepared well. The seabass was seasoned well but they did not scale it so I was picking them out of my mouth and I found two long bones. Delicioso! We enjoyed the fried eggplant! What a surprising delicious combination of sweet and savory. Do not get hung up that it's eggplant. It will blow you away. Second we're the shoshito pepper or PardonPeppers- aka Pepe. Support savory and a awesome layer of salty oil. The Coca bread rounded out our meal. Had no room for more, but would have selected the mango prawn, calamari and the beef croquettes. Someone please post how good they are! read more

Great ambiance and view of the plaza. Note the plaza has a lot of street entertainers and panhandlers that will approach your table, but they're nice. Service was not very attentive. Everything seemed to take a long time to come out, and wasn't time well at all. Food was honesty mediocre and relatively expensive for what you got. The Padron peppers and gazpacho were good, burger was mediocre. Drinks were not that good, overall not a place I will return to or recommend. read more

I was absolutely freezing from the rain, but we didn't want to give up on the day, so we decided to take a break and grab a hot drink. Little did we know, places don't offer coffee in the evening, alcohol, no problem! We were desperate and figured it was a lost cause when we walked into this BAR and asked if they had coffee and they did! Our bartender was awesome! A large and very popular bar (more like two actually, as there are two adjacent but separate interior spaces run by the same staff) in the corner of Plaça Reial, in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, not far from the Rambla. It's cavernous and traditional in style, with funky touches and mostly young staff. It attracts people of all ages and, due to its location, lots of tourists. There's a wide range of beers available, including lesser-known dark Spanish beers. They do an extensive range of food, including hot dishes and, of course, tapas. Occasional photographic and art exhibitions are held. One of the attractions is the extensive seating area in the corner of the square, if you want to people-watch (but as with anywhere in the old quarter, watch your bags too...). read more

Was far too much for two; the wait staff was kind enough to wrap up our leftovers in foil so that we could take it away. One afternoon during my visit in Barcelona I had a nice cup of coffee there. The sun was already almost setting and it started getting a bit chilly so the waiters turned the outdoor heaters which gave it a surreal feeling being there. The waiters spoke only little English (or pretended to not understand much) and maybe therefore seemed not really very interested in asking if I want something to eat as well or let alone could recommend something to me. But that was ok, no need for that, I was happy with the coffee. This place (Placa Reial) is just the perfect spot for getting in the mood to go out in Barcelona or calm down and relax after a long day of sightseeing. In a city where almost every bar has nothing but Estrella, this bar has a stupendous drink selection. We had two interesting beers called Judas and Satan (interestingly enough made by different breweries). Additional kudos in that the bar owners are very friendly, and were happy to charge my iphone behind the bar while we drank. read more

Atmosphere is great definitely for tourists but I was really disappointed with their sangria. To be in Spain and have a better sangria back in the US is so sad :(. I would come back just for the outside scenery. read more

Great little bar in the placa real. Saw the decent reviews on Yelp. They were accurate. Nice ambiance, good wine and good Tapas. The waitstaff was very nice. The selection of Tapas and sandwiches was very good. We had a sampling of 5 Tapas and one sandwich. All were prepared very quickly and all were delicious. Definitely recommend for lunch. read more
