-- cross posting my review on google --…read more Former Newbury street, Boston client, looking for a comparable result on the south shore, and I am ecstatic. I followed my prior stylist for 15 years but when the covid shutdown happened and then remote work, it became increasingly difficult to get into the city. I had tried a different Hingham salon and the color and cut just didn't compare...so when I could, I struggled back into the city when I could to get the color and cut I needed. I finally couldn't do it anymore and happened upon reviews for Texture and Gloss. I could not be happier!! The color and cut is even better than what I had. I have a lot of hair. Left to air dry it is curly but unpredictable in its curls and general shape. And I had no way to deal with it. Brush it and it's frizzy! Blow dried it keeps its shape (unless it's too humid) but that was a lot of work and I was at a loss. I'm in my late 30s with my hairline going white (not grey) -- a stark difference from my usual natural brunette. I called Texture and Gloss and explained I was coming from a Boston salon, needed color and gloss and cut, and they offered two stylists. I chose the senior stylist, Amanda, and I'm beyond thrilled. She listens but also advises. She is creative and skilled. She is upbeat and positive and makes the entire experience light and fun but also a self-care moment. I first went in late January. I told her about my curly-natural but blow-dry-straight hair and how i struggled and what I needed. She gave me a better cut than I had in Boston. She taught me how to handle my curly hair (when I wanted it) and advised on a product to use (only when I asked! She didn't push!). And the cut looks great both curly and straightened (with a blow-dry). Cost is a little less than Boston but not a lot less. But she's a senior stylist and deserves it, honestly. (You get what you pay for! Plus, without commuting in, the cost in terms of time and money still makes Texture and Gloss a steal.) Obviously went back for my second cut and color and love it as much or more than the first time! Highly recommend.

Called to schedule my first appointment, which was a correction, and I was told that a new stylist,…read moreAmanda, would take me and it would be around $300 for a color correction and cut (and assuming blow dry or reduction in price if I left with wet hair). First appointment was $582.06 (two hair products purchased so let's say $500) + $100 tip. Explanation for an appointment that is more than I spent going to the best salons in NYC was the hair color correction + cut but next time would be around $220-230 (assumed color + cut + dry, just without the correction excuse). Second appointment was just a partial highlight, root color and some other color - no cut and they sent me home with wet hair for $281, not including tip. I told the girl at the front desk that between two appointments - taking out products totaled $600 + 281 =$881.00 or $440 an appointment, which is outrageous and I'll never go back. The salon should never allow stylists to gauge their clients. So many could never afford this so I help this review gives future customers a chance to lock in a price before booking an appointment.

I've been…read moreworking with Brandy on a hair project for the past few months and she's been nothing but informative, energizing, and friendly, in the best way. She's the kind of person you wish you could invite over for face masks and wine and talk smack about people with. She cares more about your hair's health and integrity than immediate results--truly a stand-out gem and an amazing stylist. She's a realist, which I appreciate, and starts great conversation while she's working on your hair, which I also really appreciate. But more on Zona: the prices might be steep, but THEY ARE WORTH IT. I always leave feeling so fancy and fresh and sexy. Their quality of service and hair care is unparalleled in this area. And their playlist isn't so bad, either . I can't speak for their other services, but I've only had positive experiences when it comes to haircuts and dyes/bleaching. I'm looking forward to future appointments, and recommend them highly.

Today, I got the best haircut of my life from Lemon Lime…read more THE CONSULTATION: Adrian took some time to get to know exactly what I wanted for a haircut. I came with a pinterest board full of potential cuts. After touching my hair, reviewing each picture, and exploring what I wanted for a cut, he gave his professional opinion on which cut would be most flattering for my flat, fine, tangly hair. He listened. He cared. He even dug into the root of my problems--I have been using a shampoo not designed for my hair type. I would not have ever known this on my own. Adrian made me feel comfortable and relaxed. He was very friendly, and I appreciated his honesty. THE SHAMPOO: Relaxing. Smelled amazing. The shampoo came with a surprise facial treatment which included a hot towel and a massage! THE HAIRCUT: The haircut matched exactly what we had agreed upon in the consultation--a cute chin length bob, bluntly cut with layers, a side bang, and volume. I absolutely loved the cut. Adrian really knows what he is doing. If I had to describe Adrian in a few words I would have to say that he is very knowledgeable and talented. Ever walk out of a salon loving your look only to find out the next day that it is impossible to recreate? That won't happen at Lemon Lime. Adrian is a fantastic teacher, and he taught me everything from products, to hair care, to blow drys. He even wants me to keep in touch about how maintaining the look is going. I left the salon L-O-V-I-N-G my cut and armed with the knowledge and products to recreate it. THE EXPERIENCE: I wish I had video taped the whole experience. I loved watching the cut. Adrian is quite matter-of-fact about his cutting. His bold quickness, the angles in which he held the scissors, and his concentration all attributed to me thinking it was much like a piece of performance art to watch him at work. I really can't say enough about how much I enjoyed the cut and the service. Having tasted and seen what Lemon Lime is like, I would highly recommended it. My haircut is so trendy, cute, and fun that I am definitely going back for many more cuts to come. I hope you will take my advice and do the same. Smile.
