DO NOT WORK WITH IVAN!!!! HE IS A CON ARTIST AND WILL TAKE ALL YOUR MONEY AND RUN!!!! This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. We were looking for someone to install turf and pavers in our backyard and I found Ivan through a FB ad. Ivan showed us many pictures of completed projects that supposedly were done by him and offer ideas on how to approach our project. His price was extremely reasonable - which right there i should have suspected that something was wrong - and he was willing to start right away. We discuss timing - 2 weeks to finish the project, but he never told us that he was going to ask us to cover the purchase of materials beforehand. Right after we hired him, I received a bill for $2,700 to cover the materials (turf and pavers), which i paid! And that's pretty much when our problems began! Ivan was never here! He was always creating excuses for not showing up. He numerous times told us that his guy was on the way and they (when no one showed up) Ivan would say that the car broke down and etc. 2 weeks went by and not much was done whatsoever. He did hire a concrete bin and kept asking me to pay the person with my money. At this point, I was already worried about everything that was happening (or I should say not happening) and I refuse to make the payment. Ivan was very insistent on my paying this contractor, but I refused! Needless to say, that the contractor was not happy with the situation and the lack of payment from Ivan for his service and that situation got escalated with the contractor calling Ivan multiple times and Ivan ALWAYS giving his ridiculous excuses not to pay. Ivan kept creating more and more work for himself and was always talking about the need to purchase more and more materials for this and that. But again, i did not pay! Ivan told us that the vendor for the pavers was having some issues to deliver the material but never gave us an invoice nor that name of the vendor. We never received any material (turf and pavers) and by now we realize that Ivan wasn't going to finish the work nor deliver any what we purchased. We are disputing the charges with Discover credit card and hopefully we will get our money back. Meanwhile our yard looks like a war zone, our irrigation system is now broken, and we will have to hire someone else to fix and finish the job. STAY AWAY FROM IVAN!!!! read more

I hired Ivan in July 2023 for a backyard job and they never completed it and left my yard a total disaster and kept my money. Ivan will promise you things and NEVER deliver them. I made the mistake of paying them and they won't give me the money they owe me back. Ivan had been saying for 3 months now he will pay me but never does. Beware of Ivan Gonzalez - Con Artist Alert! Update : we chase Ivan for a few month now. From April to Aug. My lawyer engaged since July 1st. We gave him until July 23 rd to finish with a grace period until July 31st. Nothing happen. He continue lie to my lawyer daily in Aug, told her that he would come back to work then no show. He chose to play the game when we try to give him one last chance. Today is Aug 5th , he still lie and no show, Now time is up ! Repost my bad review original post on July 11 th . He is nothing short of a con artist who preys on unsuspecting clients. My experience with Ivan has been a nightmare. he failed to deliver on every single promise. Now I am short for more than ten thousand. He leave my project after work on it for only 3 weeks, never remove the trash, none of the single item completed. Either not start to work on, or just stop in the middle. I chased him 4 month already. Aug is the 5 th month of chasing him. He showed up 10 mins in one day, half hour in another day. All other days he just lie to you for all excuses but no show. I paid him total 37,000 so far but he only able to complete around 25,000 job. He only work at first 3-4 weeks. After that it is a daily chasing his butt game. Not only did Ivan leave the job incomplete, but he also misappropriated funds I prepaid to him meant for materials, labors for project. Instead of finishing the work, he diverted the money to personal ventures. It's clear that Ivan has no intention of honoring his commitments and is only interested in lining his own pockets. Numerous attempts to get Ivan to fulfill his obligations were met with empty promises and excuses. He BS lie to you every single day. His car, his daughter, his crew, always has prob. Or he tell you he is on the way. But he no show. He think we all believe his BS lies? I just tried to give him one last chance and now I can't give any chance to this person anymore. he has continuously stalled and dodged responsibility. It's not just me; there are many other victims of Ivan's deceitful practices. Read all the reviews. They are real. He demanding me to gave him tens of thousands of prepayment for materials and scam me for more money to reimburse him for the sink, doors and timers, cables he got for me from Home Depot. Guess what, 4 months past. He still not able to give me any single item.He never buy any of them. Boy do I wish I had googled him first...We hired Ivan to put sod in the backyard. It was supposed to be a 4-5 day job but turned into a nightmare. It was an absolute horrible experience! He showed up the first day with a guy I'm pretty certain he grabbed from Home Depot. Ripped up our lawn and the. Requested more than half of the money upfront to pay for "materials." He never brought any of the materials to the house and day after day said he would show up and then tell me in the afternoon he couldn't. He constantly lied about 'his guys being on the way" but they would get lost and not show up. 9 times he told us he would show up and never did. He claimed he ordered the sod twice and picked up the wrong one. Then had us pay for sod to be delivered and he said he would be there to install the next day. The sod was delivered and he didn't show up. We had to install it ourselves that night since the company was clear had had to be installed the same day. We asked him to send us the money back for the sod which he never did. It was a complete waste of money. He is dishonest and a scam artist. Update, we hired another company to finish the job. In order get things up to par, we've spent approximately $11,000 to complete a job he walked out on. Ivan offered to give back $5,000 which I agreed with and thought at least I'd get about half my money back and take it as a lesson learned. Ivan texted me upset saying he wasn't paying anything after he found out who I hired to work on our house. Our front yard is half way done with left behind wood and equipment. I hired Ivan and team to paint the exterior of my house. After getting the quote (which was extremely reasonable) he started the next day. His team was quick, friendly and did a great job!!! I would highly recommend at least for painting. He also did a turf job for my next door neighbor which turned out fantastic! read more

Ivan did a great and fast job leveling out, laying down mesh (for gophers), putting top soil and laying sod in my backyard. I highly recommend! He was very responsive in our communication and clear. Sooo Disappointed!! We hired Ivan and his team to redo our retaining wall after seeing the retaining wall that they had done for my neighbors. They started the project in mid September. Ivan and his team showed up early and work very hard. They were all very polite and easy to communicate with. At the time we were not In a hurry, so weather delays didn't bother us. As the job progressed we started adding to the project. Ivan told us that he and his crew does it all, block walls, pavers, stamped concrete and "pet grade" artificial turf. We added an upper retaining wall with pavers for a seating area, we talked about a new patio and artificial turf.. That's when things started to go sideways. The yard was a disaster area for weeks. Ivan kept telling us "this week" everything will be taken care of. We figuring out that he had under estimated the level of difficulty that our funky, sandy soil hill was costing him. So, after living with a mountain of dirt and debris that made it very difficult to let the dog out, especially with the rain. We spoke with Ivan very candidly and asked him if this was the case. He said it was. At that point we offered to pay for a second dumpster to move this along. Work resumed. We had him give us estimates on the concrete and artificial turf. The estimates were very reasonable, so we added these projects to the job along with landscaping the hill, removing a large eucalyptus tree and yard clean up. Normally we would pay for a project with fifty percent upon beginning the project and fifty percent upon completion. Because we kept adding to the project, things got very convoluted. It seemed like every time he got a payment "to pay his crew" usually on a Friday, we wouldn't see him for a week! He started the other parts of the project before finishing the original, blaming "the supply chain problem" for not being able to get the rest of the blocks for the retaining wall. This goes on and on. They (finally) finished the retaining wall, the upper retaining wall and seating area that all looks great. He had Gabriella's tree service remove the tree.The only part of the concrete that Ivan and his team did was the demolition and laying the forms. Another company came in and poured and stamped the concrete. Ivan underestimate again, they had enough for the patio but ran out before pouring the walkway. It was supposed to be sealed to have that wet look, but Ivan kept saying he would take care of that as soon as it cures enough. He then moved along and did the artificial turf. It didn't look as good as expected, but Ivan said he still had to brush it out but he had to wait for underlying sand to dry out. By December 31st 2021, ninety percent of the project was complete. Ivan asked for payment, we paid him all but $150.00 with the notion that we would have him do the work on the front yard next. It's been three months and after hounding him with phone calls and texts, we have seen him exactly twice, only to be met with more excuses and out and out BULLSHIT!!! Our patio remains unsealed and he finally admitted that he didn't budget for that and he would have to have his concrete guy do that and it would cost us $500.00. The artificial turf still hasn't been brushed and you can see the seams easily. We have a pile of debris laying beside our garage that we will have to pay to have hauled off. ALL of our patio furniture is piled behind a gate on the side of the house with metal love seats on top of a glass dining table and basically ruined. The side yard where they dug the drains is all torn up. The upper lot was never cleaned. The drip sprinkler system is laying on the ground disconnected. We have about fifteen very large potted planters, they now reside on top of the retaining wall all willy nilly and there is no way myself and my Husband can lift them off of a 4ft wall. This is just so disappointing. It is probably only a half a days work for two of his guys. If he had just finished the work he was paid for he would have had a loyal customer that has plenty of projects to be done in the future. read more

We hired Ivan to do a large project in November that included artificial turf, a stucco retaining wall, concrete squares with artificial turf inbetween, irrigation and grass. We agreed this project would be completed by Thanksgiving. The project moved very fast at first and communication was great. Ivan and his team showed up early every morning eager to work and were very reliable. The project was seemingly 90% done the week of Thanksgiving when Ivan asked if he could be paid the final installment so he could give it to his work crew. They had a scheduling hiccup with vendors that were closed the week of thanksgiving and would be back next week for the final things. In the spirit of the holiday I agreed and the Wednesday before Thanksgiving I paid him and sent them on their way with a turkey. It is now the end of March and the project is still not complete despite the weekly calls and texts I put into Ivan. Each week he tells me this week. We have also noticed lots of lazy oversites on finishing touches. There is no drain in our grass. The timer for the sprinklers is an indoor timer. He didn't properly dig down under our fence when installing the artificial turf between the concrete squares so each storm the dirt washes out between the cracks and leaves the turf lumpy. He came back once to "fix" this but only added more dirt instead of making a permanent fix. So surprise surprise it washed out again. The retaining wall and concrete squares look fantastic. I think this is his specialty. However artificial turf, irrigation and grass are not. If his reliability and honesty were better I would consider hiring him for more hardscape work but unfortunately I would not recommend him. read more

We hired Ivan and team to do a backyard job that was suppose to last 1 week according to him. It took almost 6 weeks and then he disappeared. We gave him all the money because his "rent was due and he has small children". That was a big mistake, as soon as he got the money, he disappeared and since then has been giving us a run around. There are several items not complete that will cost use few thousand dollars. First, I would not recommend him to anyone at all, they do a subpar job, second, I would not give him a penny until the last little thing is done. Reading other reviews here, it seems like he is a con artist and does this to everyone. We engaged him early February. Don't be fooled by his humble demeanor as it turns to aggressive as soon as you ask him to keep his word. Ivan keeps my front and backyard in good upkeep. He gives suggestions about the soil and grass such as what it may need. Goes out of his way at times to get a similar job that may turn large gone. Had him come out and give us a bid for rehabbing our old sprinkler drip system and his pricing was much more competitive than several other local landscape contractors.
