I hired Neil to install a water pressure reducing value for my irrigation system. He initially surveyed my system to come up with a game plan. Neil returned my call the same day and set up an appointment. He was able to put in a new timer after seeing my 1980's original timer that came with my house when it was built. He was a little unfocused. He was too in a hurry to explain what he would do. I agreed to the first scenario he presented, (I had bought a new timer, met him at the location, and stayed there for an hour while he figured out what he would do.) I agreed to the estimate and left. That was when the trouble started. He didn't contact me about a revamp to the job. But told the tenant a whole different project for digging up the property and laying new cables/wires and connections. He didn't call me - the tenant did to return to the site. He threw an idea at me to retrench the whole huge yard. He was not being patient. His phone was blowing up all the while. My perception was that he couldn't do the project on his own and decided he had more profitable work and HE JUST BAILED! I was requesting he be patient but he couldn't be and he apologized and left. Below he said I had 7 irrigation people which is not true - I had six people (neighbors,gardeners, handymen), I had myriad of gardeners who worked on the rental over the year who messed up the wiring on the siphon valves over the past year, and he was the FIRST irrigation specialist. I called out to verify whether the timer was broken . After I thought for a while - I wouldn't have done what he was suggesting anyway. I would have maintained one-timer at the same location (whose wiring was intact) and just added a second timer in close proximity of the back bank of valves to the existing outdoor electrical connection instead of starting from zero.... back to the drawing board. He was an older guy who didn't need or want my business. In all fairness I think he knows his stuff but he just wanted an easy out. I've hired service providers for 45 years and I try to be fair minded. read more

Too bad there's not a rating lower than 1 star! We have never encountered someone so unprofessional!! We were doing some new landscaping and put in a lot of effort to have the various components of the Job lined up chronologically so the new plantings could be installed soon after our irrigation system was revamped. Neil came to the house, laid out what he would do along with the dates the work would be done and we agreed to the plan as discussed. We signed a formal proposal the morning he began the job which he stated would take 2 to 3 days. He did some work on June 16, 2021 and then showed up at 11:30 on June 17th to tell me he was backing out of the job leaving us in real predicament to find someone quickly to get the job done. I installed a new controller box myself but one of the stations was not working and another the valve was leaking. I left a message for Neil at 7pm on a Wednesday night and he returned my call right away same night. He came out on a Friday and arrived 10 minutes early.
