Grace Kelly Provisions Building in downtown Fort Wayne
    Daniel W.

I found GK Provisions Bakery or GK Baked Goods in downtown Fort Wayne last week and it was my first time at their opening. The staff there were very friendly and welcoming to me. I enjoyed the experience having their cinnamon rolls and lemonade at the bakery. I have had GK bakery their cinnamon rolls last year at the summer local farmer's market. The time and atmosphere being in a place like this is very exciting. They offer various baked goods and drinks to your craving. This local bakery is popular and will bring more people coming in the downtown Fort Wayne area.

Having checked into the Hilton a few blocks south of GK I was interested in getting a ham and cheese croissant and a half gallon of milk. They did not disappoint and the breakfast beat anything the Hilton had to offer.

    Lavender latte

Ended up here by accident today, but we were glad we did! Had an excellent quiche and savory scone and an iced coffee and a lavender latte. Can't wait to try the focaccia bread we brought home! The reason I stick with 4 stars instead of 5 is that you have to bus your own tables (which is fine) but when you ask the staff where to put the dishes and they huff at you and point you to an overflowing bus tub that was so full of dirty dishes that dishes were in danger of being broken, then we think that perhaps we would've been better off not asking and just leaving the dishes on the table for the staff to deal with.

    Macarons, banana bread, and espresso

A true must-try in downtown Fort Wayne. My husband and I had the banana bread warmed up along with some macarons to share. Easily some of the best baked goods I've had in my life. The espresso was an amazing touch with our desserts, and we can't wait to go and try all of the other amazing things GK has!

Love the cinnamon rolls here. It pairs well with an iced latte. Such a lovely cafe to visit. There were many other baked goods to try.

Otherwise you will have to hunt for a parking spot. The outdoor seating is very attractive. It is large, clean and has wonderfully welcoming colors. It's nice to be able to relax and people watch from the street side. There is a fun chess set if you need a game to play. The inside of the shop is very clean, chilly and crisp. No excessive decir. The seating is wide open and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They provided a couple samples prior to purchase. There was plenty of staff on hand to handle the time frame. The ice cream was good. I had the Milky Way and Strawberry Cheese Cake. The Milky Way had a smooth chocolate flavor that somewhat imitated a Milky Way bar. The Strawberry Cheese Cake ice cream was outstanding. Very smooth and fresh. Large chunks of strawberries and a mildly sweet cake taste. Overall an interesting place to try for dessert. Especially if you want to something new or visit the downtown area.

(Grainy, greasy chocolate-like substance? Hard pass.) Chocolate I do like: Peanut butter cups! But they need to be made with real chocolate (sorry, Reese's) and they need to be big, so that there's an almost equal proportion of peanut butter to chocolate. Milk chocolate peanut butter cups are great, but dark chocolate ones are even better. I got a huge dark chocolate peanut butter cup to take back with me to my hotel, which happened to be around the corner. It was so silky and smooth and just what I wanted. Kilwins is the place to find all kinds of chocolate treats, plus things like popcorn and peanut brittle, gourmet marshmallows, food gifts and lots more sweets. They also have a full ice cream parlor in the shop, where you can get ice cream by the scoop or made into a sundae or milkshake. This place has outdoor seating, so you can sit on the patio and enjoy your ice cream or chocolate while watching the people of Fort Wayne go by.

The employees were super friendly as soon as we walked in and offered samples of the different ice cream. I settled on the three rivers ice cream, which was clearly one of the best ice cream flavors I've ever had. There was a perfect blend of cream and sugar in the ice cream. The waffle cones are also embossed with the company name and are made fresh. The waffle cone itself was also probably the best in the Fort Wayne area. It had the perfect taste And texture to the cone. The only reason why I could not give it five stars is it is quite pricey, but what isn't in this economy. If you're ever in this area and want dessert, this would be a place to try.

Spoke + Ivy (west Main Street, FW) - another locally unique dinning experience that deserves a try…read more Spoke + Ivy is located on west Main Street - across the parking lot from Redwood Inn restaurant, if that helps. This restaurant is set in an old building that used to house a pharmacy. It retains the character of the building via the hardwood interiors, tall ceilings, large window views of the street and concrete/industrial ceilings. The interior is nicely decorated with inviting green, brown wood and black accent colors. Table settings were very attractive as well. You can park in the small side lot or on the street. Reservations are easily made on line. The team is very friendly and welcoming. All set the stage for a fun and relaxing dinner experience. Spoke + Ivy has a very small food and specialty cocktail menu. This is the second time we have been here. Each time we found the food to be delicious and the cocktails are uniquely designed. Here is a run down on the food items we ordered: -Focaccia Bread: a mildly sweet, dense/firm bread, slightly airy with a touch of herbs to accent. It is cut into blocks so it is easier to share. The vodka sauce is thin in consistency with a smooth Italian seasoned tomato appeal. Both make for a deliciously simple starter. -Lobster Roll Rangoon: decided to give this a try. It comes out as one large Rangoon - not individual pieces. This means that you must awkwardly cut this shareable into pieces. The slightly crispy & oily wrapper is similar to most crab Rangoon pieces. It has a nice crisp. The inside has shredded pieces of lobster. It was not filled with creme cheese sauce like traditional rangoons - just plain. The green lemon parsley sauce was simply outstanding! It's very fresh, moderately thick and has a slightly tart taste. This added "the sauce" to what the inside of the Rangoon was lacking. -Milanese: nicely breaded chicken that was very moist. The breading is slightly sweet. The fresh bed of arugula salad is a nice add -Prime Rib Pho: this sounded really interesting. It's a smaller/healthier dish. The medium rare prime rib was sliced thin and tender. There wasn't many pieces of prime rib in this dish. The add-ins were fresh and much like you would expect from a Pho dish - just not as much volume. The broth has a chili oil base that gives it a spicier flavor. Overall we really enjoy this relaxed atmosphere and character of the building. The delicious food and cocktails are excellent.

We were seated in a very awkward corner table for two where the tables were really close together. Since it was our Valentine's celebration, I would have been uncomfortable with the tables next to us having people at them because it didn't give you any privacy or space for private conversation. We did not get drinks or appetizers. Our meals were very good (salmon and chicken). The server was good but didn't refill my water and that' a big deal to me. Also, it's supposed to be an upscale place and they were out of paper towels in the bathroom. I feel like that is just basic service they should check on regularly.
