Such an amazing coffee shop. They always have the most fun seasonal drink specials, and you can be sure that your coffee or tea will be made with love and care. Housemade syrups are delish--I'm partial to the strawberry and recommend doing half vanilla, half strawberry for a sweet, summery vibe. Employees are the sweetest and happy to answer questions. There's a little bit of seating in the cafe itself, and more tables in the market it's in. Plentiful parking in the lot outside!

This is in a little indoor arcade. The other business have varying hours and so this was the only one open when I dropped in. I ordered a matcha special, which was freshly prepared and robustly flavored, but eye-watering in price. This wasn't a place with a kitchen so you're just stopping in for a drink, but it was a nice area to sit in if one was so inclined.

I got an iced matcha latte. The service was nice and fast, however the matcha was a bit pricy for the basic flavor. Overall not bad but not great.

If you want good coffee, you'll get it here (for ref, they have 2 slayers in their shop). Of course that's not the end all be all. This place is an espresso mecca of sorts. The service is great, they are very well informed + passionate. The coffee AND the milk are prepared properly. 10/10, only shop I will be coming to. Thanks folks!!

I'm in Charlottesville for the summer and this is by far my favorite coffee shop I've been to so far. The workers are very friendly, and they have so many unique flavors/drinks offered. The espresso is very smooth and as someone that doesn't enjoy a very sweet coffee, the flavored options I've tried haven't been overly sweet! I've been here 3 times in one week, so it's definitely good.

This place was extremely cute from the inside and it most definitely has a hole in the wall vibe! The owner and customers even were so kind and helpful to me when I came in. I was trying to find a drink for my cousin and we ended up going for an iced coffee with milk and some natural strawberry syrup in a small cup and it turned out to be SEVEN DOLLARS. I'm sorry but seven dollars for a coffee is outrageous. If you don't mind spending that much money on a coffee then sure come here. If not, steer clear kids. The coffee honestly was pretty good but not worth it for that insane price. I used to work at a family owned deli and bakery and I got $9 an hour so that's basically an hour of me working lol.

I started visiting Give & Take for midday pick me ups after moving to Charlottesville in June. Their staff is very pleasant and helpful, plus they're always making great recommendations! They frequently add new items and fun concoctions to the menu, which is already well varied. It's a one stop shop, so it's perfect to swing by and grab a coffee or tea on your morning walk up Main Street. My personal favorite is the iced matcha latte which I attached a picture of. Good matcha can be so hard to come by and this is probably the best matcha latte in Charlottesville by a long shot!! The nitro-coffee is also super creamy and is a close second for me. Worth a visit.

Locally sourced coffee is always a win! Mary and I stopped by a new place in Cville today. Give and Take Coffee prides itself on its organically-based, locally-sourced coffee. When you step inside, you're immediately greeted by friendly faces and the fresh aroma of truly delicious coffee. My Americano, with Costa Rican coffee beans bought from a local business in Richmond, was rich in flavor. I adored the fact that the coffee came in cups with the name of the store already on them. From the experience with the drinks to talking to the ownership, you can feel the passion emanating from this new Cville business. Give it a try!

The BEST matcha beverages in Charlottesville, and possibly the entire tri-state area. The Iced Strawberry Matcha is healing, it cures all my bad days. The shop-owner, Aja, is so personable and patient. She will answer any question you have! It is always an absolute delight stopping in Give & Take. Seriously the best vibes and my absolute favorite coffee shop in town. They also just extended their hours so I can get a matcha first thing in the morning! Lastly, G&T has THE BEST rewards program also!! Every $40-50 I spend, I get $5 off.

The moment you pull into the parking lot and see the corner where Give and Take resides, you can't help but smile. Beyond glow of the neon coffee signs, you know you're at the right spot when greeted by the brightest smile and kind hello from owner Aja! Her knowledge and skills of coffee and tea are impressive and leave you intrigued with the world of speciality coffee (that quite honestly has had a pretentious edge until now). My go-to is an iced matcha with Aja's homemade strawberry syrup. Winter depression is afraid of how perfectly blended these flavors hint at the best summer you've ever had. If I could leave 6 stars I would.

My croissant tasted as though it was sourced from Costco; it had been heated up, which made it marginally palatable. I asked for a large cappuccino and got a drink that tasted as though a sugary syrup had been added to it. There was a huge volume of milk, which I guess was OK, and a small amount of OK-tasting espresso. The breakfast was convenient enough that I figured I'd go back for a second round the next morning. However, when I arrived at the coffee bar on Day Two, I was told that the person who would be staffing it was "running late" and that the croissants had not yet arrived. The front desk person found it in her heart to pour me some coffee from the huge urn at the coffee bar. I was grateful for the free lobby coffee but headed outside for my official breakfast. Outside was better.

There is a good amount of seating with two large shared-space tables and smaller circular tables, and there is free wifi access. The cafe offers coffee, tea, and draft options. I've only come in for coffee and tea twice and felt that it was overpriced for what you get. They only offer their iced drinks in the large option, and it's probably because the iced drink consists of 8-10 large ice cubes that take up a majority of the space of the cup. The iced chai and hot soy latte tasted good, but were standard. The food was kind of meh - I ordered a biscuit which was barely warmed up. Overall, an okay cafe (probably not my first choice to go to), but it will give you a caffeine fix if you need it.

It's my first time there and I missed the large option which is my mistake. Got like a small 12-16 oz cup. I'm not trying to make a service worker feel bad but it's on management to not be so stingy on just helping a customer. As usual, I'm looking for the best coffee roaster to go to, and Lone Light Coffee was on the top of my list in this area. The coffee shop is on the smaller side, but it was warm and comfortable. The baristas were nice and three of them gave me their input on which single origin I should choose for my pour-over. POUR-OVER - MKT Price +6.50 for Mohammed Aba Nura - Ethiopia (tasting notes: Strawberry, white chocolate, hazelnut) I wanted the craziest tasting option they had, and they recommended this one since it's pretty popular and well-liked among customers. However, one of the barista said he didn't really like it himself. I figured I should still try it. The sips I had while it was still warm was pretty juicy and sweet, but I really didn't like the notes once it cooled down (about 20 minutes later), which tasted sour and off-putting. I should have listened to that one barista and went with a different single origin option. Overall, good roaster -- just unfortunate that I tried something that wasn't for me. The baristas seem knowledgeable and passionate about their craft. I would love to come back next time and try another single origin offering.
