I dined for lunch at Giuseppe's this week for the first time and found it by luck since I'm rarely in this area. It's located in the center of a strip center with parking in front and a small but attractive outdoor courtyard with two tables for outside dining. Inside there is a small foyer and what appears to be three separate dining areas. It has a "local neighborhood" feel to it. After being seated and presented the menu I opted to order the Chicken a la Shoemaker for $17.75. This dish is also listed on their smaller lunch menu for $14.25 and is the same portion size but comes with a side salad for the extra $3.50. First to appear was a complimentary bread basket and oil for the table to share and we enjoyed it. The bread was warm and buttered. Shortly after, my salad appeared with greens, tomatoes and croutons in a tasty vinaigrette dressing and I liked it. About 10 minutes later the entree arrived in a large bowl. It consisted of chicken breast chunks sautéed with lemons, sliced mushrooms, spices and onions in a white wine broth on a bed of Angel hair pasta. I thought this was a good tasting meal with a savory flavor to the food with the onions and spices contributing to the chicken and pasta. I would have liked a little more food in the bowl but all in all it was a satisfying meal. During the meal the background music was enjoyable and the table service prompt and professional. I would be happy to return when in the area.

Appetizers we tried the mozzarella sticks and the calamari both were great I love the fact that they were fried but you couldn't taste any heavy oils like most places. The calamari was fried perfectly and the tomato's sauce was amazing. The fresh bread and olive oil OMG! I could drink that olive oil If you order the salad and you like creamy Italian dressing was sooo delicious I loved it. Entrees: My son has the fettuccini Alfredo with grilled chicken the Alfredo was good it was heavy but it was had a light cream sauce which made it very enjoyable and not overwhelming with cream. I had the salmon with the lemon caper sauce if it's your first time here get this plate it did not dissapoint I finished my entire plate and the serving portion is a perfect size. The sauce was soo good it's not a heavy cream either it was light and didn't overpower the salmon it complemented it very well. My husband had the grilled salmon which he completely finished his entire plate with both sides was broccoli and the green beans with garlic. He said everything was delicious. The ambiance is a little old looking however all I cared about is that restaurant was very clean. Their is no odd smells clean linen tablecloths and great service from our waiter. He did a great job with our refills and providing good service Im so glad we came here we will definitely be back. Sorry no pics of the food we're hungry!

I finally came here and gave this place a shot. Upon arrival, they indicated they've been in business for 39 years, wow, didnt know that! After leaving, my visit made me wish I would have come much sooner! Their menu is reasonably priced with entrees ranging from 10 to 19, with pizza on the lower end and seafood dishes on the higher end. I noticed their chicken dishes are also around 18, not sure why they're so much. I also tried a bite of their grilled chicken from another plate that my table mates ordered and chicken was cooked perfectly. And even juicy too! They start each table off with their bread, and a plate of olive oil and garlic. Its really easy to eat all of these they're so good. There were a few dishes that were sautéed, so thats a good sign its a legit place. I ended up ordering Canneloni, which was priced slightly higher than my usual order of lasagna at Italian restaurants. Both dishes are baked of course and contain a good amount of cheese. The dish comes with a salad, and I chose ceasar. The salad is decent with fresh sliced parmesean cheese. The entree comes with 3 good sized stuffed canneloni with beef and spinach. Not sure, but it sort of tasted like sirloin. There is a good amount of melted mozzarella on top and their homemade red sauce under that. The pasta was cooked perfectly. Since I had eaten so much bread, 2 iced teas, and 2 drinks shortly before dining here, I was stuffed. I left with a feeling that I would definitely be back. This is my kinda place, not too fancy, not too casual, one location only, great restaurant name too. One negative was that there was no background music. I could go for some soft Italian music which would make this place even better than it already is. Yes, there is a patio for dining al fresco too, if you can stand the heat. One of the coolest parts was upon leaving, they have about 20 jars of various candy at the counter, all of which are free. Some places give you mints, but not here...you get your choice from tons of candies...its like a mini candy shop!

I really wanted to give a 5 star BUT I have to deduct a star. Yelp says they close at 9 but when we tried to order dessert our server said they were closed as she set the check on the table.... Mind you it was a little after 8pm. Ummm the food was great there was about 2 other tables there so the ambience was a bit awkward. It was very quiet we felt the need to speak in hushed voices. Food came out fresh like they don't make it till you order it type deal. For a family of 4 to get delicious food for a little over $100 was nice. The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was not being able to order dessert (that we could have taken to go) because they were closed before 9pm. If hours have changed please update. Overall a 10/10 on food a 6/10 on service.

Terrible. Just awful. Upon entering it smells like a musty closet. Once seated the ambiance was strikingly awkward. The restaurant is dead silent. We were very hopeful for the food but were disappointed with a cold sandwich that looked like a school lunch and the pizza was definitely from the freezer. The service wasn't great either we had to keep reminding the boy to bring our drinks and salad. This place is a disaster.

How have I missed this place?! Thank goodness... a place in the champions area with a proper sauce! :::sigh::: I've been so sad not having a nearby go to joint and now I've finally found one. Mangia! I stopped for a quick bite and ordered the eggplant parmigiana. Great sauce, Al dente spaghetti, firm eggplant with perfect crispness to the breading. Service was prompt and just attentive enough. Looking forward to trying the manicotti and pizza on my next go round. The fresh bread and oil with herbs was a lovely way to prepare for the entree. Happy diner here. The interior... well... it's certainly nothing to write home about but that wasn't a priority for my visit. It's definitely time to update the flooring and 90s era wallpaper. Bless. But the food? Solid and I'm sold. I'll be back.

We had a group around 15 people. 2 of us ordered the quatero sandwich. We got the sandwich it had 1 piece of ham and 2 pieces of salami. I asked the owner where was the rest of the meat? He said they were out but he gave us double of the other meat which was a lie! There was only 1 piece of ham and 2 small salami. He asked if I wanted something else which I did but was worried they would spit in my food. I didn't want to make a scene because it was a company dinner. I was really annoyed he was a liar and served us half ass sandwich and lied. I ate it anyways and can say I would never recommend this place.

If you like Stouffer's, stay home and eat Stouffer's You will save a bundle and have possibly a better meal. Calamari was rubber onion rings and entrees were like frozen meals. Service was great, but get a real chef if you want to be called an Italian restaurant read more

Not very impressed. The price is high and the food is just ok. The pizza looked good and it was nice having Gluten free pasta option but I was disappointed in the food. We were the only people there. No desire to go back. read more

I realize that some places are not child/family friendly. If this is the case I would suggest that you quietly pull one of us to the side or at least come to our table and politely ask us to control our two year old's volume while he explains his amazing trip to Sea World to his grandfather. Instead we were told to quiet down from across the restaurant in front of your other 7 customers at 7:30 on a Saturday night. That was uncalled for. I also suggest that you look into replacing or fixing your water filtration system because your drinking water was not good. As for your food I'm not sure how it would have been because we left after the incident described above but it was anything like our experience it would have been disappointing at the very least I'm sure. read more

I went for lunch today, dining in while COVID-19 requirements are in place. Dining area staff had no gloves or masks on. I was thanked for coming by a guy sitting near the kitchen, appeared to be a manager or owner. He wasn't wearing a mask or gloves either. I've eaten out nearly every day during Coronapocalypse. This is the only restaurant I've been to that wasn't following CDC orders. The food: Bread was warm and soft. Caesar dressing on salad was over-rated in Google reviews but was ok, though there was too much white and yellow lettuce. Meatballs were really good! Marinara sauce was thick and consistent. It didn't separate from the tomatoes and settle at the bottom of the pasta like most places. Would have liked it to be a little sweeter and less acidic. The prices were very reasonable. I look forward to trying other menu items when this COVID thing goes away or the establishment follows laws that assure my that the chef isn't coughing on my food and handling it with contaminated hands. read more

Great food and family atmosphere, exactly what an Italian restaurant is about. Living in Chicago for 20 years I've become picky about my Italian food. A mom n pop place like this is a gem. When the owner himself takes the time to talk w you and your family you know you found a great spot! The lasagna is awesome and I highly recommend it! Each serving is cooked in the oven individually & is served w the sauce simmering. I tried the pizza the other day, cooked to my order, extra done to get the thin crust crispy. Love eating here & look forward to my next family dinner here. read more

I was very disappointed in this establishment. This is not a family friendly environment. Although there are high chairs and a kid's menu, the volume of my two year old's excited storytelling was apparently too much for the owner to handle. I am working with him, but again he is two and it will take time. The owner did not even come to the table to address us, he gestured to my husband across the dining room for everyone to see. This definitely did not make us feel welcomed and we decided to leave. No one else seemed to be offended, our waitress even apologized. I will not be going back. read more

My family has been eating here for years! The owner Charlie waits on our party of 11 personally. Two pizzas were ordered and they were fresh made to order. The Pasta a la Charlie was delicious and an empty bowl was all that was left. The house dressing and home made rolls are a must! We have pre-ordered 12 lasagnes to go for a Thanksgiving dinner due to a family emergency and everyone was thankful our take out holiday meal tasted homemade and wonderful! Remember to support the mom and pop places! They have to compete with the cookie cutter franchises. I'd rather spend my money with a family run business than give it to some corporate yahoo who doesn't remember us. read more

We visited for the first time last night and have already made plans to go back for a birthday celebration. Loved everything about it. My senior mom who suffers from a form of Dementia was treated so kindly by our server. The food was delicious and clearly not a frozen product served at a chain restaurant. The owner came by to say hello and check on our experience. It's nice to see how much they care. The decor is considered dated by some but we appreciated the nod to the family history. read more

Been eating there for years, sometimes better than others. Although the decor could use some updates, I like the quiet atmosphere with nostalgic music and white tablecloths. During recent visit, was surprised how fast my food came out, and it wasn't that hot, so it made me wonder about the freshness. It tasted different than other times. Unfortunately, I ended up with serious food poisoning and am very sure it was what I ate here. read more

Have been eating here for a couple years. The food is very good. This is a quiet, nice place to go. The owners are always there and are very nice. The bread they bring to your table is great and the service is always spot on. My only complaint is that I wish they included the salad with the meal instead of buying seperate. I also wish the salad was a little fancier. Is really just lettuce with a slice of tomato. Their homemade dressing is awesome, though. I highly recommend this place! read more

My family and I have been going to Giuseppe's since they opened 30+ years ago. It is one of our favorite restaurants. We can go there, relax, and have conversation along with fantastic Italian food. The creamy Italian salad dressing is so good that sometimes I crave it. Our other favorites are the pizza's (the large will feed 5 easily), the eggplant parm, and the sausage and peppers. The specials are always worth trying, creative and tasty. I read the other reviews and they baffle me. Giuseppe's has never had vinyl tablecloths (white linen), the people couldn't be friendlier, and there isn't a gym next door. If you are in the area and want a nice friendly family place to eat, stop by. read more

This place is at the entrance to my subdivision and yet I have never eaten here till tonight. Great Italian. Seems we have been missing out for the last 2 yrs. Hot buttery bread was brought out in a basket which disappeared fast. We got side salads and were told everyone gets the homemade creamy Italian dressing. I can see why. To die for. For the entrees, I got the "employees favorite" which was Shrimp and Chicken over rigatoni with sundried tomatoes, fresh mushrooms and a spicy alfredo sauce. It had large pcs of garlic that were sauteed with the sauce. It was absolutely delicious. It will be difficult to order anything else next time we visit. My hubby got the Veal Scallopini...It was very good but he is normally a lasagna kinda guy, so this was not his favorite dish, nothing was left on the plate tho, so it must have passed the test. I spied what I found out to be a baked Ziti at the next table and he will be getting that next time. It looked like a big enough piece for 3 people. Needless to say, we will be back to this great little family owned place. A few small points, vinyl table cloths, very 80's furnishings, and el cheapo Sam's flatware....but nothing so bad that I will not return. Waitress said the pizza is an excellent choice as well. Will post again when we try that. read more

Absolutely horrible takeout. Tony's in spring was closed due to holiday. Ordered one chicken alfredo dinner and one large one half cheese and one half sausage and green pepper charged 36.00 no receipt. without a doubt dominos at best. Just awful and so overcharged never again. don't usually write such a negative review but awful beyond belief read more

I'm late on my review. Went there back in September 2014. Service was terrible that night and it was not packed at all! Took forever to get our drink order and we were about to walk out. I had a caesar salad with chicken and it was just ok. My son had the shrimp scampi and it was very blah. For the price it was not worth it. My other son had pizza and it was decent. We didn't even take the leftovers home. read more

A friend and I stopped in for a quick lunch. I'm temporarily disabled i was on a knee scooter. There was a gentleman sitting and a gentleman standing at the host podium. Nobody offered to open the door as I was wheeling up and my friend was parking, no convenient handicap parking. Food was OK, service was just OK. I don't think I'll try this place again. read more

A little surprised at the negative reviews I have seen here. This place is great old school Italian! One of our old haunts had gone out of business, due to some management issues, and we were really wanting to find a good Italian place to make our "go to". We were looking for great food, a funky, old school atmosphere, that was still homey, and some excellent service. We are not into big box store restaurants at all. We don't need neon, fireworks and holograms to make our dining experience worthy. The wife and I loved the decor and did not find it in need of updating. You want hip and updated....head to Olive Garden or a hipster haunt in the heights. We went to this hidden gem, tucked away in a shopping center, on a whim the other night and found it to be outstanding on all the realms in which we find important. Our waiter, Jason, was very attentive and not shy about assisting us with recommendations. From the bread to the wine to the pastas, everything was exceptional and even customizable. Their homemade sausage is out of this world. We both declared that it is now our "go to" for true Italian! The owner was kind and came over a greeted us. Overall just a grand experience! We are going back this weekend and taking our son! read more

Our family has been going to Giuseppe's for several years. The food is always good and the staff is attentive. My favorite serer is Pete. He always comes and checks on us even if he isn't assigned to our table. The Owner - Charlie - often comes by and checks with the guests and carries on a conversation. I just like the family atmosphere - it always feel comfortable. Some folks complain about the price, but for 'made-to-order' food it is priced fairly. Keep up the good work. Great experience. Wait staff was friendly and prompt. Prices fair. Food was very flavorful and served hot. We had bruschetta, spaghetti and meatballs, and baked ziti. Ambiance was quiet with moderate lighting and classic jazz/Italian music. All in all id recommend this restaurant for families or couples looking for a quiet eventing. read more

I could've eaten a whole basket by myself. For appetizers, we started with the fried calamari perfectly crispy, not greasy at all, and super flavorful. Two of us also had the Caesar salad and whew ‍ so fresh and delicious. The lettuce was crisp, the dressing was on point, everything tasted high quality. The inside of the restaurant is just not set up well in my opinion. When you're waiting at the front, you're basically on top of a table of diners. The tables are all very close to each other and it feels like it's a very tight space. I do believe that the patio is a better vibe for seating, but we didn't really get to check it out. The food was just okay. It wasn't bad but I also wasn't very impressed. We shared the mediterranean sampler. I ordered the chicken piccata while my husband had the sausage bianco pizza. It was just kind of average. It is always busy when we drive by, so it does seem to be a place that people love. It just wasn't for us and we likely won't be back, especially given how pricy it was for how average it is.

We rolled in to find the place practically empty - guess we weren't the only ones who got the memo. Service was sloooow. Our server seemed to be moving at a snail's pace, leaving us checking our watches more times than I'd like to admit. Now, the food. It arrived piping hot, but it seemed like it'd been microwaved one too many times. The food is delicious, service is so friendly and attentive. The owner actually wlks around and checks on every table to ensure satisfaction...Love that!!! My grand kids wanted pink lemonade and they only had regular lemonade well the waiter told the owner and he ran across the street and grabbed it for them! Seriously!!! who does thos now a days!!! Wow, what a great experience. We went on Tuesday night and had a great time. The restaurant was packed but we were seated right away. The service was great and the food blew me away. I felt like I was at my grandmothers table on a Sunday afternoon.I enjoyed the old pictures of their family on the wall, and the way the owner was going table to table talking to people.
