Great first time getting Chicago style pizza. They prepared us ahead of time that it takes 45 minutes to cook a deep dish. I appreciated the heads up. Pizza was delicious and server was great. Thanks read more

I'm a very picky Californian... a chef with 11 years of hospitality experience. I have worked at many restaurants including Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and McCormick & Schmicks seafood just to name drop a couple. The food was so good, I was quite surprised. The server Roger was amazing, the food was better than I even expected. Even the coffee was exactly what I was looking for. This is a must try and I'll be back :) read more

Chicago, IL Service sucks. Pizza is good. Price is fair for a working hard man. Long waits on pizzas, but well worth the wait. Will I come back here? Heck yes!!! read more

Giordano's - Pizza Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Definitely the spot for Chicago style pizza. Ordered the meat lovers and that bad boy was on point. Definitely a must when in Chicago

Dear Deep Dish Pizza lovers and aspiring Chicago Pizza Tourists: Giordano's is the McDonald's of Chicago deep dish pizza. Their thin crust is doughy and bland. The dough in their deep dish has way too much sugar in it. If you like safe, conservative and tasteless pizza, you might like G's (see Pizza Hut). But if you want flavor and quality, look to Gino's, Uno's and Lou Malnati's. For some torturous godforsaken reason, the company I used to work for would order this shit over and over when there's Pat's, Aurellio's and Gino's nearby. Btw, if you want some thin crust recommendations, PM me, and my answers will be mom & pop shops, not corporate crap. Hmmm...let's exit this review with "peace out!" (say it in Kip, Napoleon Dynamite's brother's voice) read more

First I have ever been here, I got the Chicago Style pizza and it was very good. I have never had pizza this way and i would definitely get it again. It did take a while to get our pizza but it was definitely worth the wait. read more

Had the classic deep dish cheese pizza and some of their drinks. Their deep dish is definitely better than Lou Malnati's - crust is better, there's more cheese, so if you're choosing between the two, come here. read more

This was my first experience with Chicago deep dish pizza. This restaurant was recommended my so many and it didn't disappoint! A word of advice... pizza is AMAZING, but as a human I can eat 1.5 slices and still move... trust me I wanted to eat more. The meat and more was fantastic and the cheese to meat to dough ratio was spot on!. I highly recommend... in fact we will be bringing pizza home to California to enjoy! Thank you Nikki for the suggestions and for making our night so fun! read more

In the words of Jon Stewart, "Chicago style pizza is not pizza, it's a casserole". But Giordanos serves up a pretty mean casserole. My dad and I shared a Chicago classic pizza that was stuffed with an unnecessary volume of pizza sauce and cheese. And we loved it! The crust was probably the best part. It was crisp, buttery and flakey at the same time. I was worried about the calorie content of the crust alone. That should tell you how good it tasted. The service was wonderful. The pizza took 35 minutes to prepare but they warned us beforehand and gave us timely updates on the status of our 'casserole'. Highly recommend if you are touristing in the windy city! read more

This place definitely lives up to it's hype. Tip, it takes an hour to make the pizza, so be sure to get your order in quick and don't stuff yourself on appetizers. Their jug of sangria was a good way to keep us happy until the pizzas came. That way we had a good buzz going when the pies arrived. read more

Last Monday was Aaron S's and mine anniversary, we wanted to go to a special dinner, but he got off work too late for us to hit our favorite sushi place, Giordano's was just a few steps from the Sears Tower (He works there) so this is where we would up having our dinner. We were greeted in a pretty timely manner, and sat down pretty quick as well. It being a Monday evening after six they were not crowded at all. Our waiter came by and handed us menus and water and gave us some time to make our decisions. Neither of us was up to pizza so we went with pasta dishes, and an appetizer of chicken tenders. He ordered Alfredo, and I got lasagna. We were informed that our dishes came with soup or salad were given the soup choices. There was no long wait for food and our tenders were brought out quick and still very hot. They were juicy with a good amount of breading, not my favorite tenders, but they did the trick. Soups came out next, the waiter made the mistake of saying the soup was broccoli cheddar when it was really potato cheddar, he apologized and made sure we still wanted it. He handled it well, and it was no big deal to us either way. The soup had a good cheese taste to it without it being too cheesy, so it was more like a cream of potato with cheese added, pretty standard, but not bad. Aaron S. and I had a little bit of chatting time while we waited, and the room was quiet enough were we could hear each other without shouting. The pasta's were good. My lasagna had the right amount of meat to cheese to sauce, and wasn't soggy or bland. The sauce was a tad sweet for my usual taste but still hit the spot. Aaron offered me a taste of his Alfredo, and it had a nice little kick of garlic added to it, and his noodles weren't over done either. All in the food did the trick, nothing really stood out about it though, it was just good comfort Italian food. What gives this place the fourth star, would have to been the service. Our waiter was friendly but did not hover, and kept up with our soda refills, and was generally quick and pleasant. He also corrected his one minor mistake very well, which takes a little bit of skill. read more

I know this is weird, but we actually only went here for a drink. It was Labor Day, and someone I knew wanted to stare perilously at the street 110 storeys below from a glass box... why, I do not know, but it meant I got to have a glass of wine so go ahead, peril away, as far as I'm concerned... Nothing in downtown other than here appeared to be open. Thankfully, they have a bar and it has wine. Ways we entertained ourselves: Reading the signs ('thou shalt eat pizza') and generally appreciating the decor The till machine which seems to predict impending hordes of people besieging the bar for a drink, which seems unlikely. We figured out how the system worked, and got excited when our two little blobs went blue (we paid) and had martini glasses on (we ignore your commandment, Giordano, with impunity, and shall not eat pizza today). Sending back a glass which was filthy with lipstick on and pretending to find it hilaaaarious when the server said 'oh sorry, not your shade?' ha. ha. h... no. Betting whether the man next to us was going to eat an entire deep dish pizza and have a coronary while watching the football. He started off well, sawing the crusts with menace and determination.. then the wheezing started... then something exciting (allegedly) happened in the football... I thought we would need a defribrillator... the cutting slowed and the chewing was laborious... But thankfully, the game ended. Two thirds of a pizza gone - astonishing! It did smell delicious, but I've tackled one before and I managed.... um... one slice. Well done that man. Guessing why all the liquor bottles were draped in clingfilm (to guard against the impending hordes, presumably). Marvelling at the Grand Marnier shot machine. Sounds better than standing in a death-trap 110 storeys up, no? No? Oh, ok. We had fun. Seriously, the atmosphere in here is nice, there are TVs, and the pizza looked and smelled like authentic Giordano's deliciousness, so I can see no reason not to return if I need a pizza or a glass of wine. read more

We came here on our last night in Chicago after going to the Willis Tower as it is less than a block away. For a Tuesday evening the restaurant was not crowded at all. They sat us in a back room in a large booth and they allowed us to leave our stroller in the front of the restaurant. Since we were kind of late for dinner we wanted to just order simply and quickly. We started with some garlic cheese bread and milks for the kids and sodas/iced teas for the adults. We ordered a classic deep dish pizza with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. It took a little bit to come out since the pizzas take a while to cook, but we knew that going in. They brought our kids crayons and coloring sheets and extra milk when they finished their first cups, along with keeping our drinks filled. My mother and I both got salads as well. Both the garlic cheese bread and the pizzas came out hot and tasty. Everyone was pretty hungry so we gobbled it all up. It was a true treat to have the traditional Chicago style pizza on our last night in town. The restaurant itself is very much an Italian pizzaria type place. Wood on the walls, lots of pictures on the walls, booths, checkered table cloths and catering to families. They also had a lot of flat screen TVs for watching the games and other distractions. It is pretty large with several rooms, so it must get crowded on the weekends and they also have a full bar. They also have a service where you can order one of their pizzas and have it delivered anywhere in the country. Our waitress explained that it comes packed in dry ice and you bake it yourself. That's pretty awesome! read more

First time to this location. Deep dish sausage was great, the restaurant was clean, our server friendly and attentive. The manager was walking around checking in diners' experiences. read more

Not the "original Giordano's," however, I figured their pizza tastes the same just about anywhere so I had no problem stopping in here for a quick bite with my boyfriend. And yes, even though it's not the original, and it's a weeknight, expect to wait especially if you arrive during that prime dinner hour which is 7pm. We entered the establishment and we were immediately greeted by the host. He said wait time was about 45 minutes and suggested to order our pie in advanced since it takes awhile to make. We go towards the front and placed our order for a small deep dish pie (which can easily feed two people and still have pizza leftover). So, we were waiting by the ordering section for quite some time and then I decided to ask where to stand because there were people waiting by the entrance. A worker came up to me and said we were more than welcomed to sit at the bar and wait. I didn't even notice they had one because it was tucked in the back of the restaurant. We waited five minutes at the bar and were brought to our table. The table was right next to a booth and the piece that separated the booth from our table kept hitting our table which was pretty annoying. About 15 mins later, our food arrived. We took the plain pie with the stuffed crust which was suppose to be filled with cheese, but I really didn't taste or see any cheese within the crust. Overall, the pizza was alright. Nothing to go completely crazy over. The service was ok too but nothing to rant or rave about. I really think this place is completely overrated. It was cool for the experience, just to say, I went to a Giordano's while in Chicago, but I have a feeling there are much better places to try in this city. read more

Coming from out of town I had heard good things about this place. But talk about rude. The server's greeting was "just want you to know its 1.5 hours for pizza". This was after waiting 10 minutes before someone even came up to ask for a drink order. No hello, no welcome to our restaurant. So when I had a surprised look his further response was "well it's 4th of July". So when I got up to leave with my family he said "oh but our sandwiches or pastas are faster". Giordano I know good help is hard to find but with workers like that your just making your establishment look bad or maybe it's just this one down in South Loop. Visitors there are better establishments with better food & service. Don't touch this one. read more

Lunch...fast...deep dish...$6... It was definitely worth the 6 block hike for lunch...the personal deep dish literally came out in two minutes... My suggestion is to arrive right at 11 because this place fills up fast...otherwise, $6 and a 6 block walk will turn Giordano's into a normal lunch spot for me... read more

What trip to Chicago would be complete without trying Chicago Style deep dish pizza? I was told that Giordano's is the 3rd best place to get pizza. We were trying for Lou Malnati's but it had an outrageous wait for 1.5 hours so we went for Giordano's instead hearing that it was at least above average. We had fried mushrooms (came with marinara and ranch - love variety of dipping sauces!) and ordered a medium sausage, pepperoni, and mushroom pizza. I washed it down with a Pomegranate Margarita. It was tasty and strong so props! The pizza took about 40 minutes to come out and boy this pizza does not play. It's huge and the crust is thick. I could only finish one slice. I had to use a fork and knife because it's so messy. To think about it, I think it would be amusing to make someone eat this with no hands or silverware. I was thankful for the side of ranch we had with the mushrooms cause it was the perfect dip for the big ol crust at the end. I thought it was good but I'm no local. The Austin equivalent is Mangia's and I thought it tasted just the same. read more

Got take out here. My mistake. Don't get Chicago deep dish and take it out. The cheese gets kinda hard and the fillings just don't taste as good. But I still rocking ate the whole thing like a champ. After a long night in the office, nothing like a Classic deep dish with buttery flakey crust to put yourself in a comma for the night. read more

We are from Ohio and wanted to try the "Chicago style pizza". It was soooo delicious! Our server, Laurie, was the perfect server. First she explained the differences in the deep dish pizza and she explained that it would take 45 min. Because they make it all from scratch and fresh ingredients. We had 4 kids with us so it made the wait pleasant since we knew what to expect. Kids played tic-tac-toe provided by Laurie. Laurie continually refilled our drinks during the wait and the meal. 4 adults and 4 kids all said it was worth the wait. Best pizza we have tasted. Compliments to Laurie who served a slice to each of us with artistic flourish. She took the time to let us video the serving process! We will definitely be return customers. read more

I've been to them all. Giordianos is consistent, tasty, and always good service. I actually think the second slice is better than the first. Often times a good pizza place will have good wings on menu and giordianos does which gives them the nod. Food came out quick and our waiter checked in often and would definitely come back to this location as it's more low key then some of their others. read more

Hype, all hype. Long wait time to get in, long wait time to receive the pizza. Honestly, I do not understand why people rave about this establishment. The sauce...way to runny so the entire thing just flops about and makes a huge mess. And then when you do the blasphemous thing to pizza (eg. use a fork and knife), the thing just spurts everywhere. It was like the pizza was sloppily made and without care by a five year old. Sorry, that's unfair to five year old pizza making geniuses. Sloppily made and without care by an untrained homeless animal. Better. Also, the service was unattentive and the waiters were like zombies. Mostly made of Eastern Bloc servers, they were very cold and annoyed. Why. Your tip and job rests on your service. Lose the bad attitude, be more attentive to water(s), drinks, napkins, and would a smile or an "Enjoy" kill you? Did I mention the amount of sauce is just absurd? It's like they opened up a Costco sized can or THREE of tomato sauce and dumped it onto the pie. What are you hiding Giordanos? The lack of cheese, ingredients, or toppings? By the time the food arrived, you are so starved you cannot force down more than a few bites and then the bloaty feel after consumption is not appreciated. The crust was burnt on a few areas and stupidly hot...it's just torture. SIDE NOTE: The pizza is ACTUALLY much better cold when the sauce gets a chance to congeal and solidify. That is the only avenue to eat this...kinda like Silician pizza! But when I sit down for more than 1hr and 30minutes, I'm not going to refrigerate the food and eat it the next day...I'm eating it then and there. Maybe it was just this location but I mean how different can the recipe be from place to place? No-go. read more

The spinach stuffed pizza really hit the spot after a stroll around the Sear's Tower/Opera House area. But get an appetizer, as the wait is quite long. It took 40 minutes for them to cook ours. We did, however, get a table for two right away. The pizza was really, really good. read more

While I haven't ate at every pizza parlor in Chicago, I have to say out of the ones I did, this was hands down the best! We got here at 12:30 on a Friday and there was a bit of a wait, they told us it would be 35 minutes. Luckily it was much shorter than that and we sat down and placed our order, and 45 minutes we had a nice piping hot pizza waiting for us to enjoy. It tasted fresh and delicious, and holy moly was it filling. After 2 slices I felt like I was ready to burst at the seam! While the waiter was a little indifferent, and hard to understand, it did nothing to negate the awesomeness of this pizza. read more

As a New Yorker, I almost feel wrong writing this, but I prefer Chicago Deep Dish Pizza is the best. Try to eat three slices, I DARE YOU!!!! I was treated for dinner here tonight on the Company's dime and it did not disappoint. I'm sure you might be able to get better deep dish in Chicago somewhere, but Giordano's was no-nonesense goodness. Yeah, it took a little while for it to come out, but the appetizers were passable and it was nice to spend the time socializing with co-workers. I sampled the Spinich and Mushroom and the Supreme and both were very good, perfectly cooked, lots of great "toppings" and weren't greasy at all. The whole sauce on top thing could take some getting used to, but I wouldn't mind seeing this pizza in other places around the country. read more

This place is amazing. Within walking distance from Willis Tower. We were hesitant to go to this place because it was packed on a Sunday. Wait time was 45mins on a cold, windy evening of Chicago. After 10 minutes, we were seated (yeah!). Our server, Lorie, was AMAZING! She was very attentive and very accommodating. She had a very pleasant and cheerful vibe. The atmosphere here was great. Food wise, we didn't try their pizza because we didn't have time to wait for an hour for the pizza as we had a train catch but the food hat we ordered were tasty. We'll be trying the pizza when we come back! read more

We had a layover in Chicago's Union Station and were so eager for some deep dish that we called ahead for pickup so we could eat before our connecting train arrived. The house salad is wonderful and definitely hearty: it included fresh spring greens, romaine, arugula, baby heirloom tomatoes, radicchio and fennel tossed in a light lemon vinaigrette with shaved asiago blend. I could have easily filled up on this alone! However, what we craved was the genuine flavors of true Chicago deep dish - and we were delighted with the original cheese. It's been almost 30 years since I've had genuine pizza. I've travelled all over and nothing comes close to genuine Chicago deep dish and Giordano's is hands down a sign of heaven on Earth. What confuses me is why they would serve thin-crust options. It makes no sense to me - you have perfected the deep dish - everything else is just distraction. Then again, I guess the thin crust crowds are probably all the New Yorkers and West Coasters. read more

We were in town on vacation and were told this was the place to go. I've had other Chicago style pizza and was never sold. This place changed my entire view on Pan pizza. Oh.my.gosh the best ultra thick crust pizza I've had yet and it's only in Chicago. Our group of 12 was accommodated within 5 minutes 3 medium pizzas were plenty. The service was great pizza was the best and they're in several locations throughout Chicago. I'd go again and again. You just can't find a finer place for pizza on the West Coast. I just don't get it?! I'll put it this way, as I was eating a Special, I actually thought to myself "This tastes like one of those frozen stuffed pizzas that Red Baron used to make." Boring sauce, skimpy toppings in the fill, too much mozarella (I never thought that was even possible), OK crust though. Not worth $25, I'm sorry, just not. read more

I would be insane to knock the pizza at this place - it truly is wonderful - however, I can't think of many times where I have been so offended by a server in my entire life. A large group of my friends (about 25 total) went to this place to enjoy the famous Chicago-style pizza that we can't find in Minneapolis. We called a few hours ahead to put in our order to help make it easier for the restaurant since we were such a large group. Needless to say our server was stressed out by our group, which is understandable, but instead of asking for assistance from other workers she decided to be rude to our entire group. At one point, there was an extra pizza on our table and I spoke with her since we didn't order it and therefore did not want to pay for it - she actually had the audacity to snap at me and said it was our issue to handle. If Giordano's hadn't delivered on great food, I would've demoted this place to a 1-star. read more

On a recent trip to Chicago I had one thing on my mind: deep dish pizza. My friends happily obliged my food quest and took me to Giordano's. The second we walked in I could tell it was a tourist trap. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but with my experience living in NYC I have come to learn that touristy restaurants are known for two things- 1. being overpriced and 2. having lackluster food. Unfortunately Giordano's fell into both those categories. We started with the fried calamari app, which should be renamed "fried random scraps off food appetizer." There was literally a fried lemon in the dish! HUH? Our pizza came out and it tasted to me like pastry dough with a pound of cheese on top. SOO much richness going on that there was no flavor. I originally had this place rated as a two star, but while writing this review my memories of this meal became more vivid and I clearly see that it only deserves 1 star. read more

So anytime im in Chi town I gotta get me some deep dish. I found myself with a free day on my business trip last week so i emailed a few friends to find out what the best place for deep dish was in the downtown area. Two friends mentioned Girodanos so obviously thats where I ended up. I like the fact that they had a lunch special for 10 bucks which came with a personal 6" size pizza with sausage, a house salad, and a soda. To me this was a great deal for 10 bucks. I sat at the bar so service was really quick. Pizza came out nice and hot and the crush was buttery and crispy.
