I'm actually obsessed with this place. Their specialty rolls are sooo good. Big fan of the red tiger roll and spicy girl roll. Good price for great quality. The ambiance inside isn't really a vibe so I normally get take out but the staff is super nice.

Christmas Eve CLUTCH! We ordered from 4 places and they all cancelled our orders from Grubhub. Disappointing. Oh well, we ordered our weight in sushi and went to pick it up. I would 200% go back here for sit down it's a cute little joint. We got so much sushi I can't even recall the names but I do remember my "strong man" roll that I will forever get because SOFT SHELL CRABBB. yum. Their miso soup hit the spot too on a -7° night, too! Happy Eating!

Came here for lunch. They have a nice lunch selection here. I got the sushi lunch that comes with two or three rolls and a soup or salad. The sushi was good and it came out quick.

MY GO-TO SUSHI SPOT! I've been coming here for all my sushi craving and lunch time is the best. You get the best deals. The owner is so nice and she always has a smile on her face. The seating area is pretty nice and spacious. You're able to have an intimate conversation. We got the chicken app, spicy tuna roll and salmon roll. Chicken Habachi Dinner was tasty and perfect. We cleared our plate! Would come here again.

Ginza is hands down one of the best values for sushi in Pittsburgh. While prices seem high, portions are generous and the fish is a decent quality compared to many other sushi restaurants around town where you will pay much more for less. This place is soooo underrated. The photo below was a little over $60 of their more expensive specialty rolls and my wife and I could barely walk afterward. The restaurant has a mom and pop feel with lots of tables and despite that the service is still good.

The sushi here is pretty fresh! I like that they have a lunch special where you can get 2 rolls for $12 or 3 for $18 and you get a piping hot miso soup (or salad) that comes with it. It's a decent deal for the sushi prices in this town. For takeout, they are ready really quickly and it takes longer for me to drive there than for them to make it. Their salmon avocado, spicy california, and spicy tuna are great. I thought the spicy salmon was pretty good too but my partner didn't like it. Good place to go for sushi around here since a lot of places don't do it well.

Amazing sushi selection and staff! If you're looking for a sushi spot with lots of variety and a variety of other foods this is the place to go! The prices are affordable, they have street parking or a parking lot not too far, and it's also BYOB with a small cork charge. I highly recommend the Ginza roll!

Cute little Japanese restaurant in Bloomfield that isn't busy on a Sunday at lunchtime. We enjoyed the edamame, a standard miso soup, sweet potato tempura sushi, beef / tofu teriyakis, and shrimp hibachi. Service was okay, and the kitchen was fast. Very nice presentation on everything, and we would totally come back.

The sushi was unreal and some of the best sushi I've had in a long time. You don't expect much from a California roll but the freshness and the flavors were so good. The tiger roll gives you shrimp and salmon, spicy and not, some with avocado and altogether just a delicious experience. I would order this again easily!

A cute, clean restaurant with quick service and tasty menu. We found great parking around the block, and we enjoyed a walk along the main drag in Bloomfield. Pro Tip: go the sushi route. While the hibachi options were nice, the sushi was better!

tl;dr: decent sushi place for PGH. Will be our new go-to sushi takeout from here going forward bc inside vibes are quiet but service and food good overall nonetheless -- Wanted to try out a new-to-us sushi place and found this place by word of mouth. We came on a Saturday night and were seated right away. Pretty empty inside with only a few groups of folks dining in. Seems they mostly do take out. We ordered the Maki For Two combo dinner, shumai, and tempura appetizer. Really thankful to our waiter who suggested the combo dinner to save us money since we were already ordering all of that separately! It was so much food haha but it was really good! Probably some of the better sushi I've had in the city. Only thing I think could have improved in my opinion is the freshness of the wasabi and the ripeness avocados used in the sushi. I noticed that my avos were more on the green/brown side which was slightly off putting but didn't detract from the taste. We'll probably do takeout from here going forward when we want sushi but I'm glad we stopped in to try it!

Always love coming here for the sushi! The take out is always quick and efficient. I love that they have a wide assortment of nigiri and sashimi. The tuna mountain is sooo good, it's topped with a mango sauce! A great place for fast and delicious sushi.

Great service, great food. Great wine...because it's byob. Haha. we got a few rolls and they kindly served them all on the same plate for maximum sharing. We got the Tracy roll appetizer which was to die for! Also the edamame was steamed perfectly. Our sushi roll selections were Tuna Mountain, red tiger roll, and the crazy salmon roll. Restaurant was empty when we came in, but had a good atmosphere.

I've been generally impressed by the quality of the sushi. We ordered takeout this time, and everything was extremely well packaged and presented. In terms of the food, we focussed on fairly standard maki rolls: a spicy salmon roll and a spicy California roll. Both were very nicely done. We also tried the veg farm roll, and that was a nice vegetable forward option. Not life changing, but nicely done. We also opted for a vegetable poke bowl, and that was also good. Basically the same combination of vegetables as the veg farm roll, but in a bowl format. The bowl was good, but it was lacking some sort of sauce or glaze that might have pulled things together. It was easy enough to toss on some condiments of our own, but the bowl could have been better. Overall, I this is my favorite sushi destination in Squirrel Hill. It's very clear that the owners are invested in turning out a high quality experience, and that's exactly the type of business I like to support.

Their selection of appetizers were great, and the quality of each was stellar. We attempted to try quite a few of them, and still have many we want to try. In our group, the tofu with an amazing dashi broth, the crab puffs, "sexy jalepenos", tempura kani, and the gyoza were the standouts. As I stated, though...everything we had was awesome. We all ordered a different ramen, and then shared. They were all phenomenal. The steak teriyaki was also great. Sushi wise, we didn't get to try as many as we had hoped. We were too busy reordering the appetizers. We did try the Crazy Mango roll, and ended up reordering that because it was so good. My kids were with me, and they love all things Mango, and this was phenomenal. For dessert, we had a few orders (and reorders!) of the fried bananas. Overall, I cannot speak higher of our experience. It is very clean, well kept up on, and the service was phenomenal. Quality wise, you can tell how much effort they put into the place purely on their presentation. I had to remark many times about how utterly beautiful some of their dishes were. This was not like our other AYCE experiences where they just rush food out to you. They actually put effort into their craft here, and it is quite obvious. We will definitely be back, and look forward to trying new things that we didn't get to before!

My usual order is the chicken katsu bento box, which comes with a good portion of crunchy sliced chicken katsu, rice, two dumplings, a California roll, and miso soup. It feels like a solid, filling meal with enough variety to make it satisfying. The only downside with my most recent takeout order was the sauce placed in the middle of the container. I'm not sure exactly what it was, and after tasting it, it wasn't really for me. Because of the layout of the takeout container, some of it spilled into the rice and rolls. Next time, I'd probably ask for that sauce on the side in a separate container.

The restaurant is located right on Mt Washington, giving a good view of the city. The interior looks appropriate for a sushi restaurant, but due to the massive windows lacked the darker vibe of other upscale restaurants. I've been to hundreds of sushi spots and the interior was merely average. Otaru seems to struggle with its identity. It needs to either commit to being an upscale restaurant or relax and simply be a quality one. The wait staff were kind and prompt, but at times appeared they may be less experienced. We were brought hot (paper) towels and edamame. We ordered the fried tako balls as an app. I personally don't prefer tako and found it very dense and chewy and the overall flavors were too undeveloped. The hand rolls were well filled and were easy to eat due to being more of a taco configuration than a true hand roll. The nori was not too tough, lending to a pleasant experience. The nigiri and sashimi were also good. The nigiri were good, but not as elevated as another upscale sushi spot in the city. They were still very good, but not quite excellent. They either need a bit more development or to be relaxed and served as two per order and the price adjusted slightly upward. If you take one thing from this review, let it be this. The yellowtail jalepeno cups were astonishing. By far this was the most well executed dish I have ever eaten and the best sushi dish I've had. They appear to be wrapped in toasted sesame seed wrappers. If you've had Hapi mixed crackers they give the same great flavor of the "fried chicken" pieces but with yuzu vinaigrette and the umami of the fish. I will certainly be back solely because of how good they were.
