Suzette's Restaurant - Linguine with shrimp and scallops

Suzette's is probably the best restaurant that you've never visited. That should change…read more Suzette's is a quiet, modest looking stop off of 169 just south of Jordan, and easily missed as drive between the Cities and Mankato. My recommendation: plan to enjoy a delicious dinner at make plans to stop. Suzette's is a family owned restaurant serving up high quality cuisine with a focus on surf, turf, and exquisite pasta dishes with an European flair. Suzette's owner and chef is Banrith Yong, who has quite the heartbreaking and resilient story of emigrating from Cambodia. It's worth the read on their website, trust me (suzettesrestaurantmn.com). Short story is that he is classically trained and you can tell from the food and presentation. Back to the food... Banrith makes homemade soups and salad dressings and seeks out fresh veggies for his dishes. AND, can't forget to praise the desserts - made in house by their daughter Lena, who owns her own business (Lemon & Von), specializing in crepe cakes. It's not a cheap night out, but it's also not expensive for food of this quality. I find the prices are approachable and good value for the tastes and treats of the meal you'll receive. I've read some of the negative reviews that keeps this from being 5 stars overall. Those reviews frustrate me. No, it's not a glitzy pretentious French restaurant. But this is an emigrant, family owned, heart forward, delish and tasty treasure for the SW metro. We have been patrons for the past few years after finally making a stop... so glad we did! We hope this family business thrives - visit and enjoy on your next dinner out in the SW Metro area!

The food was bad but he suffered through it because I was nagging him to eat more. I ate my dinner because I thought it would encourage him to eat. The seafood tasted old, the steak was cold and slimy. We both ate our food thinking the other person was enjoying their food. We should have said something to each other at the time. This morning my husband was nauseous and almost vomited when we were talking about the meal. I'm not the sort of person that complains about a bad meal, but this was one of the worst I've eaten. On top of all this, we did not feel welcomed. We will not go back.

It's all in the name!!!!!…read more Just got done eating at the Cottonwood Grill and what I had was the best burger in New Ulm (BBNU). They did not lie, that burger was by far the best burger I've had in this town. It definitely makes my top 10 list of burgers that I've ever had. Picture below. I decided to adoring my burger with some applewood bacon and I can safely say that my choice was the right choice. Thick slices, but not too thick where it overpowers the burger, great addition if you are looking for a burger and want just a bit more. Maybe you are asking why I did not give this restaurant five stars? That would be a fair question. I'm going to have to deduct a star because of their French fries. While they appeared to look very good, I guess I will never know because they were overpowered by salt. I found myself petting every single fry that I consumed to scrape the overwhelming amount of salt off of it to truly see if I was enjoying the french fries. The only positive aspect to this is I know I'm going to have good luck for the next couple weeks for all the salt I threw over my shoulder. Friendly service, beautiful view of the golf course and the drink just outside the windows. Friendly bartender and waitstaff, also a very nice bathroom on the facility. Those things are important. Highly recommend, just maybe ask for some fries without salt

Food and service is nothing special. Lack of management and training makes this not much higher…read morethan fast food. Nothing is made from scratch. All syco reheat. I ordered tonight the shrimp and scallops scampi in cream sauce. There were 4 shrimp along with the teeny tiny salad scallops. I got the side salad (Ceasar) to go. There was no dressing when I got home. Just romain lettuce with the fake parmasean like you get in packets. No croutons...no dressing. Taste was very bland. Reminded me of a stoufers frozen meal.

The place is somewhat hard to explain - sort of a sports bar feel, and sort of a family restaurant, but however you classify it, they have really good food. Menu is good sized and there are plenty of options to satisfy most people in your party. There even appeared to be some Asian style dishes, which could explain the name. Our waitress was just awesome - and she had a dinner special menu as well. After looking at all the options, we ordered some apps (calamari) for the table and I went with a short rib special they had available. A glass of red and I was off to the races. Again, the available wines by the glass and bottle were somewhat unexpected when looking at the decor and well, the Ancient Peaks Cab hit the spot perfectly. The short ribs arrived and I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised again as the presentation was spot-on and the food was done perfectly - it was excellent and I destroyed it. This place was so good, I ended going back the next night with different co-workers who also suggested it and and the same exact experience. Win-Win for Franco. All I can say is this: if you are anywhere near Delano, make your way over to this place and give it a shot. Parking lot is available.
