What a gorgeous stop! My family + I popped in during our roadtrip. I'm glad we gave this place a try as it sure was tasty! The atmosphere was warm + embracing with friendly staff + a beautiful shop. My order was a maple latte which was made right to my liking! They have a great selection to suite the needs of anyone. I also realized they have another location in Mankato which is nice to note. Cute spot for a coffee and treat during a 100 mile drive for a HS sporting event! I loved that they had unique options for both drinks & treats. I had the sweet Cardamon latte with 1/2 vanilla since I do not like my coffee sweet. It was excellent! I was torn between that and a Golden Milk Latte For a treat I have regret. I know it was really good but I should have ordered something else. Salted chocolate, rosemary & rye cookie. It was good probably excellent for big chocolate chip people. I do wish I had tried either the hermit, lemon yogurt cake or cornmeal raspberry muffin. They are more my preferred flavor profiles. Stopped by to try this small coffee shop and loved it. Drink menu has plenty of options and highlights their seasonal/specialty drinks. Food menu has something for everyone, with all fresh food. In addition, they have local items by counter and a fridge with even more food choices to purchase ala carte. During my most recent trip to Iowa Great Lakes, Gayle and/or I stopped here 3 different times. The first one was in the morning coming down from MSP, the 2nd time was coming back from the Airport again last Sunday after dropping my Son David off at MSP, and the last time was Gayle and I driving to MSP for our flight home. I sometimes forget that St. Peter is a college town (Gustavus Adolphus) and that places like coffee shops, food coops, and nice restaurants are part of culture. River Rock is roughly the half way point between Spirit Lake and MSP, and having a nice cup of coffee and one of their delicious cookies or pastries is a great opportunity. As a bonus, they sell other baked goods, of which their bagels (I took home a half a dozen) are excellent. River Rock also has some nice art on the walls (some of it for sale), great counter service, and plenty of inside and outside seating. I haven't tried any of the Lunch options, and I'm sure there's lots of folks with laptops open doing work or study. In the heat of the summer or the cold of the winter, I'll take the interior comfort. There's also plenty of street parking available, especially if you choose a side road. read more

St. Peter only has one cafe downtown, and fortunately for its residents, it is absolutely wonderful. The space is sparsely decorated but still adorable, with a good amount of seating despite its size. Their seasonal drink menus are so creative and delicious. The food menu is small but excellent, with a great selection of baked goods (try the rosemary, rye, and dark chocolate chip cookie to have your mind blown), as well as delicious breakfast and lunch options (they make the best tuna melt I have ever had). Lastly, their staff is incedible. Everyone I have encountered here is so sweet, patient, and helpful, even at their busiest. Whenever I have friends or family visit, River Rock is a must as far as local spots to take them. read more

A friend and me went here for lunch one day. The food was good and so were the drinks. If you like a plain coffee (not too sweet) they have that and if you like it sweeter, they have that. I got the plain bagel with sweet cream cheese, and it was a 6/10. I also got the potato + cheese and bacon handpie and that was an 8/10. Drove past this spot while looking for a dump station for our camper.. not a very appetizing start, I admit, but the front of this place was so inviting and after a quick yelp check we decided we HAD to stop! Best coffee in Mankato? Don't mind if I do! We got 2 iced caramel lattes which turned out to be salted caramel. Wish she would have mentioned that (or they were made wrong) when we ordered. The coffee had a good smooth flavor to it though so we were happy. We also got a hobo cookie and a monster cookie. Both were really dry and disappointing. But if I'm ever through mankato again I will definitely give this place another try! read more

Located in a busy street. Takes both cash and credit card. Free parking on the side of the building. This is a great local coffee shop in town. There is plenty of table and seating for customers. There is also free WiFi for paid customers. We came here as we were passing through town. This coffee shop has lot of options from coffee, tea, smoothies and fresh juices. They also have a wide variety of milk which you should ask the barista. We ordered their Hibiscus Ginger drink and the Lavender latte. Both were delicious and recommend them both. The staff here were very friendly and accommodating when we later discovered that one of my party had an issue with a particular milk. The staff was friendly enough to make our order again with a different dairy. The interior of the establishment is nice and the big open windows brings in a lot of nature lighting. Recommend folks to come here when driving through this town. The store also sells clothes and mugs. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Stopped here yesterday after baling out from the July 4th parade (how many firetrucks can there possibly be in Nicollet County?). This place is off the charts good! It's obvious that gentle souls who respect and value other people are in charge here. Whenever possible, the food is artisan and organic--plus, it tastes great. Nothing like it where I live, in Rochester, except for possibly the Farmers' Market, especially on Saturdays during the summer. Say what you will about college towns, but they always seem to produce what's out ahead of the rest of us, leading the way to a more humanistic, less big corporate society. read more

Yelp is right on with this high star average! I happened upon RR on my drive to the airport and visited 3x in the span of a week. I'm a fan of the cold brew, vanilla bean latte, and iced Americano I consumed. Mmm mmm mmm! Milk-wise, they have oat milk and coconut milk here. I liked the taste and slight fiberyness of the oat milk (or was it in my head?). You're paying for quality here. Keep in mind a small is 8oz, and medium is 12oz. Appealing looking baked goods offered here every day like cookies and banana bread. There's also a substantial food menu. Really friendly staff! I'll be a loyal customer! read more

We stopped in on our way out of Mankato and I'm so glad we picked River Rock Coffee. They have a case filled with fresh baked goods, they also had an array of sandwiches that are made to order, and a large drink selection, including a large tea selection. And they deserve a huge shoutout for using tea leaves and brewing properly with a timer!!!! And you get quite a large pot which is nice. The baked goods were perfect, not to sweet, but tasty. I tried a breakfast sandwich and I enjoyed every bite. Service was very quick and even though we didn't get our food to go, we were in and out in about 20 minutes. It was definitely a memorable coffee shop and if I'm ever in the area I will definitely stop in again. I just wish I lived a bit closer. read more

I stopped here on my way from Minneapolis to South Dakota. I was so happy to find a highly rated and local coffee shop a good distance away from the cities. The staff was friendly, and the cardamom latte I had was delicious. I bought a bag of beans on a whim, and my boyfriend and I have been enjoying the coffee we've brewed from it. I thought I had reviewed this awesome place ages ago, but apparently I've been slacking. We make a point of stopping here every time we go through town, the coffee is so great, but the baked goods are EVEN BETTER. I am OBSESSED with their chocolate crackle cookies, I even tried to get the recipe, but was told it's a trade secret. So I'm relegated to attempting to replicate them at home, but sadly have not mastered them yet. We drove through St. Peter a couple days ago and I was so happy they had the chocolate crackles! We enjoyed them on our drive, and we also got a caramel roll, which was one of the best caramel rolls I've ever had. We actually had bad weather crisis on the road so didn't get to the roll until the next day, and it was still moist and delicious, so it really must have been something fresh. I've loved this place ever since we moved to Saint Peter a couple years ago. I'm a stay @ home mom and I enjoy taking my daughter here on little lunch dates. The staff is so sweet, atmosphere is peaceful, and most importantly: their menu is delicious. Try the lavender coconut latte in the spring/summer. I stop here every time I drive through St Peter, regardless of morning or night and I am always glad that I did. Great coffee, good bakery selection, fair prices. I've stopped in here twice and both times found the coffee to be excellent. I tried a wide variety of muffins, breads, and breakfast items and they were all good. I'm not a coffee snob but they have good grounds here(Kickapoo) and they made everything I tried really tasty.
