I've been a fan of Marie's Bees for so many years now! Marisa has built an amazing business not…read moreonly selling honey-based products from her own bees, but providing education about the importance of bees. It's always a joy to see her booth set up at a local vendor show or farmer's market. And it's easy to order products from her website if I run out between shows! My favorite to order is one of her creamed honeys (my favorite is the Cinnamon). And at a recent Christmas craft show I bought her Gardener's Wax salve which has been wonderful on my dry skin this winter! I also love to grab a bottle of her fabulous Honey Oxymel as a gift for my mom, who uses it to make lovely salad dressings. I even took a cheese-making class from Marissa once, and hope at some point to have time to do it again! Marie's Bees is a wonderful, local, women-owned, family-owned business that I hope to "bee" able to support for years to come!

I attended a special Yelp cheese making class with Marisa at the Chuckanut Center. What a fun…read moreclass. Marisa is such a great teacher and host. During our class we learned the basics of making mozzarella cheese. Repetition always helps me learn, and in this case we were able to repeat the process a couple of times which really helped me feel confident in home-made cheese making. We learned how to check the process as we worked through to make sure things were progressing as they should. Knowing the steps and how the cheese should be looking was a big help. We learned how adding honey to some cheese varieties can provide an unusual and tasty addition. It was eye-opening to see how much milk makes this much cheese (no wonder cheese can often be expensive!) During our class, we made a couple of batches of farm cheese with fruit and herbs (from the on site garden) as well as a batch of mozzarella (some in balls and some in string cheese form). These are highly interactive classes with lots of opportunities to take part in the process. If you like learning and doing, Marisa's classes are the best!

The lighter was charged when taken out of the box and work well until it was discharged. When I connected it to a USB port, it would not charge. The first person at the store that I talked ignored my complaint about it not charging and instead took out Sizzle Pitmaster display model and pointed to the electrodes at the tip of the lighter and compared it to Sizzle Sleek tip saying there was a wire missing, implying that maybe I had damaged the tip of lighter. There was nothing missing on Sleek. The electrodes on the Sleek are partially covered within the body of the lighter. It seemed that she did not know the product. When I tried show her the difference, she wouldn't let me handle the Pitmaster warning me not to damage it. She then left to consult someone else, who came out. After some "discussion" he told me to select a Pitmaster model from their display to replace my Sleek. I said I wanted a Sleek model which is considerably more expensive than the Pitmaster. He said this is all he would do. When I said I didn't like proposal and that I would not be shopping at their store in the future, he grabbed the Pitmaster from my hand and shoved my Sleek towards me and told to go deal with the manufacturer. After a few more words, I accepted the Pitmaster and told him I would write a review. To which he replied "I can hardly wait!".

For me, home decorating and organizing is fun, and cooking and baking are fun. So it goes without saying that I ADORE stores like this, that has all the tools - and then some - for cooks and bakers. I was here before Christmastime and, wow, they had SO many awesome gift ideas for people who cook or who like gourmet foods, or special gadgets, or smaller home decor items. I was overwhelmed, to be honest, wandering about like a kid in a huge candy store. So many things that I didn't even know what they were, very niche ingredients and kitchen tools. gorgeous linens, imported foods and specialty ingredients. You'd be hard-pressed to NOT find any kitchen item you are in the market for here. I liked the lay-out of this place, too. Despite it being cavernous inside (it IS a warehouse, after all!), it's laid out in a welcoming way, with various delineated areas, wide-ish aisles, and helpful staff around to ask questions if needed. I also liked that there is a large parking lot here, too (shared with the adjacent No Frills). Bonus! My one caveat: unlike the other folks who've written reviews of this place, I found the prices of items here to be on the high side. Granted, they are were very niche and/or high-end and /or imported and all were of high high quality (big names, well-reputed brands). But pricey. Granted, I visited here at prime shopping season; perhaps they have sales at other times of the year. That said, even with the high prices, I still purchased some gifts that I've not seen elsewhere, and for specialty, unique items, I think it's worth it. Even if you aren't a cook or baker or "foodie", this place is still worth a visit, just to wander and be amazed at what's out there. This is an amazing place. And you never know what you'll discover!

***This is a review for their Meal Prep service…read more Recently I wanted to get some meal prep help to eat a bit healthier this new year and after reviewing several options around town, I settled on True Nosh. We started off with a quick consultation of what I was looking for in terms of meal preferences and possible menu items. Renée was happy to answer my questions and as a registered dietitian on a mission to cut sugar and encourage healthy eating, she was more than happy to help me figure out specific nutritional details. . I'm on week 1 of the one month order I made and it has been super yummy so far. Every meal has been delicious (even the meat-less ones) and there's some creativity from her team as well so it's not just the dishes you see on her website. Others in my household have also tried to eat portions of my meals because it tastes and smells so good. I've loved certain products they've sold over the years like the mixed grain rice and goji berry granola so I was super happy to see those items included as part of the grains, cookies and breakfast parfaits. This was way healthier than some other food delivery options out there.

She started the business desiring to produce foods that could fit the dietary restrictions of others and you could tell she was passionate about her work. It was a very hands-on experience making our own noodles, cooking the food together (there was a group of 6 of us) and her explaining the ingredients. I had so much fun making my own noodles and using the pasta roller and the food was delicious! I already have a few of the True Nosh sauces from a previous visit but I highly recommend coming to browse the products if you're looking for some sauce alternatives with lower sugar and better ingredients!
