Hubby didn't tell me about the Yelp Elite email invitation for True Nosh. I have been so busy with work and barely checking my personal email account. Any event, I came with him to get his Yelp Elite perk as I shopped for some items for myself as I have been diagnosed with diabetes 2 about 1.5 years ago (early 40s) and recently losing my mom to dementia and diabetes. I understand the owner opened this store after losing her father to diabetes and my heart goes out to the owner for her amazing work on educating and opening a store to help others who need to nourish their body with the right food. Hubby got the XOXO sauce from the Yelp Elite event. I also picked up: - spinach gnocchi (I am aware I should avoid potatoes - carbs but a little bit is ok) - pink lemonade (I haven't had lemonade for a long time) - blueberry, chia seeds and ginger compote (I can't wait to spread this on rye bread or sourdough) True Nosh has all the right stuff to help nourish and satisfy my love for yummy food as a foodie, all in one spot. It is hard searching in grocery stores aisle after aisle which does not have many options dedicated to my dietary needs. I love the orchids in the store :) I will be back soon to try out some hot food and drinks. True Nosh thank you!

True Nosh is a health conscious, gluten-free food store. They've been around in food markets for 6, 7 years. This store was opened early this year. They hosted a series of Yelp Elite Event right before Mid-Autumn Festival. Renée, the owner, is a very friendly nutritionist. She educated us the stories/history of mooncake and taught us how to make healthy and tasty snowy mooncake. We learnt very useful techniques. All the ingredients are plant based. We used glutenous flour, oil, and coconut milk, etc. for the skin. The colouring on the skin were from natural ingredients such as tumeric, matcha and purple yam. Various contents were red bean, lotus seed, and purple yam, etc. This pleasant experience brought me four yummy mooncakes to take home. Best result to taste is to refrigerate them for at least 2 hours or overnight. The store has a wide variety of vegan, gluten-free, and low sugar option ingredients. It is a great source to healthy eating.

Owned by dietician Renée Chan, the True Nosh "market" carries many high quality and local natural food products as well as sauces and other goodies by Renée. The market may seem pricey, but every cent that you pay will be returned in the quality. The "cafe" has things like soup, sandwiches, truffles, miscellaneous desserts, and coffee and specialty lattes. There are also premade meals that they can heat up for you! There's a little bit of counter seating inside and a few tables outside for you to eat there. The street is on is a relatively peaceful pocket of the neighbourhood, so I love to sit outside with my food and relax. Since I started experimenting with using less sugar in my own cooking I've really noticed how much sugar is used in excess in lots of commercially prepared food, so I appreciate what this store is doing. What I really like about Renée's food in particular is that, while many of the products do use small amount of natural alternative sweeteners, they don't overdo it and allow you to experience the pure taste of food without tons of sweetness added. All of the cafe food and True Nosh sauces I've tried here has been excellent. I love all the unique specialty lattes they have (beetroot, turmeric, black sesame, stuff like that). Besides being low in sugar, they can also accommodate vegan and gf diets. While it's a bit of different experience than eating "normal" food, it's a good kind of different for me! I'd really encourage everyone to try their products. I also took a gluten-free snowy mooncake cooking class with Renée, where she guided us through the process of making the mooncakes as well as taught us a little about the background of the mooncake and her history. She's a great teacher and clearly an expert in food and nutrition. Apparently she's looking to branch out and partner with other brands to offer a wider variety of cooking classes, so watch out for those! Whether you go to True Nosh for a class, groceries, or to eat in the cafe, you'll get to experience the generosity and expertise of Renée and the other staff and likely learn something new. Whether you yourself are gluten-free, vegan, or diabetic, or if you are just curious about general healthy eating, True Nosh is an all-around great experience that you should give a visit.

I had the opportunity to attend a moon cake making class hosted by Renée and Yelp, and it was super fun and educational! True Nosh is focused on healthy foods with many healthy food alternatives, from sauces, to dumplings and of course moon cakes. Renée was such a great teacher, she was knowledgeable, organized, and made the class fun!

True NOSH is a cute little local store in a relatively quite avenue off Granville Street that serves up truly yummy nosh (read, food/ meals/snacks) with panache! It was heartening to read how losing her father to Diabetes led the founder Renée to create this company which focuses on items that are vegan, gluten-free and naturally sweetened/ no sugar minus any preservatives. Their mission is to change people's perceptions around how food can still taste good minus the added sugar, and based on our first visit here we can vouch for the fact that they are delivering on the promise, one patron at a time! When we arrived at near closing time last week on a Wednesday evening, it was super easy to find street parking in front of the place, and we were greeted and checked in by Teresa. Despite it being almost the end of a hectic day, she patiently gave her recommendations on their many amazing products on display, and kindly offered a tasting of some of the items. Truly no dearth of natural sweetness at this place! Smitten by their stuff, we got a bagful of True NOSH goodies - their signature XOXO sauce (love it!), Oy!Stir Sauce, Home Run Hot Sauce (nice and spicy!), Blueberry Ginger Compote (yummy!), Hoisin Sauce (tasty!), Granola (one of the best we've had!) and Brownie (good stuff!), and we're thoroughly enjoying these on a daily basis! We also purchased products - Jackfruit and Lily Extra Dark Chocolate - of other brands housed in the store. This loot err nosh will last us for a while! *wistful thinking* Please note that some folks might find the items to be pricey, but rest assured that you are paying for quality items and supporting a local small business in the process. We've read a lot about True NOSH's meals and cooking classes, so we'll have to check these out in the future. Until then, buenos noshes!

A new store opened on W 7th, it's small but mighty. It has some amazing vegan stir fry sauce that is not as sweet or salty as the regular store bought ones. I picked up the oystir sauce and vegan xo sauce. They gave out samples, and it tasted delightful! They also have no sugar added housemade soft drinks, moist and delicious black bean brownies. Renée truly demonstrates healthy and tasty can co-exist, people don't have to compromise the taste of food because they choose a healthy lifestyle. It's a bit of out of my way to trek here, but when I do again, I'll for sure get more goodies!

Definitely give this a try if you're vegan or can't have seafood, this is perfect! The xoxo sauce is packed with flavours and it taste like the other ones except this is made with mushrooms! I ate this with the homemade turnip cake and it was delicious

Honestly mind blowing I never discovered this gem before. Got to come and discover this place with the Yelp Elite event they had here. They have all sorts of different healthy alternatives from sauces, to foods, drinks and even dry goods. Their XOXO sauce was the highlight of this place. It has a slight kick that lingers and makes you want more. The xoxo sauce contains wood ear which is rare and super delicious. Totally see myself using this xoxo sauce a lot more in the future with dumplings, rice, etc... their hoisin sauce was also very unique than others. It has a sweet and tangy taste to it which pairs well with the Xoxo sauce. When you go and not sure what to get totally ask to try the sauces out! Can't wait to finish the xoxo sauce and come for more!

Super convenient with healthy foods. They offer sugar-free and non gluten food options from local makers that you can cook at home. It's a small indoor sitting area, but looks like they will have a patio area if you wanna eat there. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The three dishes that we made were pork baos, dan dan noodles, and wontons with chilli sauce. These were all staple foods that I grew up eating in a Chinese family but it was quite interesting to make them with a western fusion twist. If you don't know how to cook, do not worry because I certainly don't either. Dan, the owner, led our class with his assistant Kait. Both were very helpful, engaging in conversation, and accommodating. Dan did a really good job of explaining the origins of each dish, bringing in his own experiences and life stories with his family which I really appreciate as this added a personal touch. He stresses the use of organic ingredients and often shared with us where to buy these common items. Once you walk in, you store your personal items in the cupboard provided. Then you write your name on an erasable name tag and put your apron on. Everyone is involved in the cooking process, from washing vegetables to chopping garlic and green onions. There was just a right amount of time to cook but also socialize with one another. You can also consume alcohol while cooking. I found that the assistant often prepared most of the meat, so some of the hardest parts of the recipes were already accounted for. The pork bao, for example, only required us to make the bun part but I do not recall preparing the pork or marinating it. Everything tasted delicious and looked so colourful that the plating easily looked like restaurant quality, even if you just tossed them all together on a dish. We used a lot of garlic though so a lot of us still came to work with garlic breath the next day! Still, I think my favourite dish must have been the dan dan noodles because of the peanut sauce. Feeling very lucky to have tried my first cooking class through work and hope to be back another time to cook another cuisine!

The basis of this activity is that you are put into teams and tasked with the difficult and creative job of cooking a appetizer and entrée using a secret ingredient that has to be incorporated in both dishes. They hosted our clients professionally and with care which was much appreciated. The experience can come in at a little bit high of a price however, it has been a very successful event and our clients seemed to love it (which is the main goal!). You have to cook for one hour and have access to the kitchen and ingredients and can talk with some of the students that are there as well. It feels very high pressure and depending how you cook or eat it could be either very creative or a little bit overwhelming but it's all in good fun. After that, the head chef tries out all the dishes and scores everyone. Don't fret, you do not have to only eat your concoctions after the cooking challenge. You are then presented with a three course meal done by the students. One thing I do wish they offered was perhaps a Feedback card (I understand this is difficult for a client event but could be coordinated to the organizer). The dishes we got for good, the portions were a bit small and some of the dishes were a bit over salted in my opinion but overall it was a great meal and event. There is limited parking and just have to register your car with the business beforehand, otherwise be prepared to get towed.

We signed up for a class that would teach us vegetarian and gluten-free recipes that are healthy and wouldn't be too difficult to make ourselves. I'm always looking for easy recipes so I was looking forward to taking this class with my colleagues. The space isn't large and our team of 15 people filled the room across two tables. The instructor was very knowledgeable about nutrition (I think she said she was a cook at one point in her life) and explained how each dish is prepared, what the nutrition of each ingredient would provide, and substitutes available for ingredients to fit our dietary needs, e.g. vegetarian. She showed us how each dish was prepared and a tv projected what she was doing at the cutting board or stove so that everyone knew what to do. In teams of 4, we would prepare the ingredients (dice, slice, chop, marinade) and cook them as well. All the ingredients, condiments, and equipment were provided. The instructor came and gave us tips as well. At the end of the class, we got to try what we made, which was great. In that class, we made vegan pad thai without fish sauce. I have to say that without that classic fish sauce, the dish fell flat for me. I would be interested in taking other classes with her in the future, but probably ones that involve meat or seafood!

For me, home decorating and organizing is fun, and cooking and baking are fun. So it goes without saying that I ADORE stores like this, that has all the tools - and then some - for cooks and bakers. I was here before Christmastime and, wow, they had SO many awesome gift ideas for people who cook or who like gourmet foods, or special gadgets, or smaller home decor items. I was overwhelmed, to be honest, wandering about like a kid in a huge candy store. So many things that I didn't even know what they were, very niche ingredients and kitchen tools. gorgeous linens, imported foods and specialty ingredients. You'd be hard-pressed to NOT find any kitchen item you are in the market for here. I liked the lay-out of this place, too. Despite it being cavernous inside (it IS a warehouse, after all!), it's laid out in a welcoming way, with various delineated areas, wide-ish aisles, and helpful staff around to ask questions if needed. I also liked that there is a large parking lot here, too (shared with the adjacent No Frills). Bonus! My one caveat: unlike the other folks who've written reviews of this place, I found the prices of items here to be on the high side. Granted, they are were very niche and/or high-end and /or imported and all were of high high quality (big names, well-reputed brands). But pricey. Granted, I visited here at prime shopping season; perhaps they have sales at other times of the year. That said, even with the high prices, I still purchased some gifts that I've not seen elsewhere, and for specialty, unique items, I think it's worth it. Even if you aren't a cook or baker or "foodie", this place is still worth a visit, just to wander and be amazed at what's out there. This is an amazing place.
