I had a very disappointing experience at Halo and would never return…read more I booked a blowout/curl appointment 1-2 weeks in advance because I had a dinner event tonight. I even went into the salon in person to make the appointment and specifically pointed out a client whose hair was being styled with curls using a curling iron and asked if they could do something similar for me. The receptionist assured me that it would not be a problem. When I arrived today, the stylist, Elisabeth, was rude and unwelcoming from the moment I walked in. She had a negative attitude throughout the interaction. After I took my ponytail down, she told me that because I have a lot of hair and because the appointment was apparently booked only as a "blowout" and not a "blowout + curls," she only had time to blow dry my hair and did not have time to curl/style it because she had back-to-back appointments scheduled afterward. Instead of trying to help find a solution, she blamed the person who booked the appointment. As the customer, that is not my responsibility -- especially when I booked well in advance and specifically discussed and pointed out the hairstyle I wanted in person beforehand. The entire experience felt unprofessional, dismissive, and extremely frustrating. Now I'm left scrambling last minute trying to find another salon before my event tonight. Completely unacceptable customer service.

I was hoping for beige highlights and got bright blonde. I asked for a refund and was only offered a "fix it at no cost". I declined. Intervention: Reached out to Vance who did my hair in the past. Don't ask me why I just didn't come back. Vance was able to see me pretty quick and did an AMAZING job!! He gave me beige highlights and darkened the base which I just love. I'm tanned skin so the blonde highlights was not flattering. Evaluation: I am forever grateful for Vance. He is very skilled at his craft. Communication is fairly limited, as most of the staff speak very little English. They get the job done and focus on the hair, but there isn't much conversation or consultation beyond what's necessary. Also, while the pricing is comparable to salons in Los Gatos or Palo Alto, the experience is more basic. During my visit, I wasn't offered coffee, water, or other amenities, and based on other Yelp reviews and photos, that seems to be the norm rather than an exception. Overall, if your priority is getting great hair results, Mustafa delivers. Just don't expect a luxury salon experience with lots of extras or personalized service.
