I paid $480 for my appointment and left with hair that looked patchy and not like what we had discussed. While disappointing results can sometimes happen, what bothered me most was the complete lack of communication afterward. I reached out to Masaki on May 13 regarding my concerns and attempted to resolve the issue privately. I never received a response. It has now been about a month, and despite giving plenty of time for a reply, I have been ignored. I did not immediately leave reviews or make public comments because I wanted to give him the opportunity to address the situation directly. Unfortunately, that opportunity was never taken. For $480, I expected a higher standard of work and customer service. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Masaki.

Updating my review: I used to come here because the haircuts were strong, but over time the…read moreexperience deteriorated significantly. Appointments became rushed, started late, and lacked even basic professionalism. You're barely greeted when you walk in, and the overall tone makes it feel like you're inconveniencing them just by being there. I told them multiple times I had a head injury from a concussion and the lack of care was very concerning how abrasively they washed and handled my head. My most recent appointment was a complete failure. I asked for a warm, golden brown and came prepared with multiple reference photos. While the color was processing, I clearly flagged that it was pulling purple. That concern was dismissed, and the product was left on longer. The result was the darkest my hair has ever been, almost black with a cool, purple hue. The exact opposite of what I requested. The color job is all mismatched, the lower part of my hair significantly darker, the roots are sloppy and uneven. When I pointed this out, the response was defensive and dismissive. At one point, I was sarcastically asked if I wanted to "bleach it," which is an inappropriate and careless suggestion for already fine hair. It was mind blowing to have this handled so poorly and then be rushed through a cut that does not look anywhere close to the quality of the past cuts. I followed up requesting a refund, given that this will take months to correct and fade, and received no response for over 48 hours. It's not even about the money - it's about the severe lack of respect. What's most surprising is that this level of defensiveness and lack of accountability was unacceptable, especially after such a grave mistake. Instead of thoughtful adjustment and ownership, the response was dismissive in the moment and silent afterward. Mistakes happen. How they're handled is what defines a business. This was not handled well. NYC has no shortage of salons that can deliver both technical skill and professionalism. This is not one of them. Updating this with a pic and additional NYC HAIR SALON SEO terms so future customers are warned since the salon has decided to block me after no satisfactory resolution. The pic at the top right was me pre-hair f*** up. Only come to this salon if you'd like to come home and cry.

I only needed a haircut and this was the only chance I got (I am a SAHM with 2 kids and minimal backup except this day) so I said I would consider it but I need a cut now. It was 6 months since my last. That must have just not been the right thing to say bc I was judged, insulted during the entire session and I got the worst haircut of my life. I can't even get it fixed because it is so much shorter than I wanted. There are huge "texture" discrepancies all over my hair, the most obvious being in the back near my neck. There's also a strand of hair far longer than the entire length of my bob cut. I don't even understand how this happened. I'm so traumatized. I would never recommend this place and will never ever come back. I really had 1 chance to get a cut as a treat to myself, since I really don't have extra time to spare. And now I have to live with this until it grows out, definitely more than 6 more months. If I could give -1000 stars, I would. Please do yourself a favor and find a salon that can do a nice cut for long AND SHORT hair. WITHOUT A PERM TO MAKE IT ALL STRAIGHT FIRST. The skill level here is just so sub par. Gina has been my hair stylist since 1991, and I have brought my wife, both teenage children, and friends to have her style their hair. I see her even after moving out of NYC and now living in the suburbs; she is worth it! I can count the number of times I have "cheated" on her during the past two decades on both hands. After each time, she is so gracious in fixing my hair shape that others messed up. Gina is the best there is, period. She is so much more than a stylist; I call her a hair architect; everything about that metaphor holds true to her talent. She understands better than anyone I could ever find everything about thickness, volume, shape, texture, body, depth. She can also predict how your hair will grow out. Her styling is also amazingly cost effective. Indeed, one haircut, and I get at least three different "looks" as my hair grows, from short, to wavy, to flowing. I just don't know how she knows how my hair will grow out so well; call it talent. Forget about any other review written on any stylist (who the heck was "David"?) that may have worked for Gina in the past. You go there to see Gina. Oh, and by the way, her colorist, Lee, is also very talented. Ever seen a women with highlights that look, well, stripy? That won't happen with Lee. read more

I love going to this place-Let's start with that. I left after my first visit and kissed all the staff on my way out-Not kissed-kissed, but you know what I mean! I only get services and spend my money at places where I not only get what I want but my overall experience is pleasant and leaves me feeling good. It's actually fun to get my hair done at Gina Le Salon! Gina does my hair. I usually want a boost to my color-sometimes it's the roots, other times I want a few strands of light color, and sometimes I want a toner to enrich the overall head-Gina plays with many more options than single process or highlights. Sometimes it's not that simple. I just was there last week and I left (like always) feeling good about myself. In a three day span (after hair cut and color-we did my roots and a toner to calm down all the sun bleaching!) I got FOUR "you look great, did you do something to your hair?". I got TWO "Let me get your number" (WHILE I WAS DRIVING!!) and ONE Marriage proposal-haha. I say it's because of my hair! P.S. I wanted bangs-I know I don't look good with bangs and so did Gina! But what she did was, cut my hair so it looked like I had once had bangs and they were growing out-She found a way! read more

Gina is amazing and true artist when it comes to hair- everything from color, cut, style, and hair care. I have been to so-called "top salons" for years before finding Gina Le and no one ever was as interested or cared about my hair the way Gina does, she listens to client but also know what would work for my hair.. What is even more amazing is that Paul and the rest of her staff is just as good and they all work together to make sure the client is happy. I have never left there not feeling great...and there is none of that "when it grows in"...my hair looks great from the moment i leave the salon until my next appointment. I also should mention that they have corrected other stylists mistakes on my hair. There was one time where I made the BIG mistake of going to on of those "Blow" out salon for an event I had- I immediately ran around the corner to Gina's and begged someone to fix my hair. They squeezed me in with no appointment and made my hair look fabulous. That is the kind of salon Gina runs. I highly recommend it anyone who want great hair. read more

Gina is a top notch stylist and listens to what you are looking for and makes it happen with what you are working with in terms of your hair type. I have gone to Gina for a number of years and tried differing styles and i have always been very happy. Also, I have gotten to see other customers get stylings and i have to say i am always impressed. My wife has gotten her color done here and she loves them, and the coloring looks very natural when she gets done. I miss this salon every day!…read more I came in with very outgrown and brassy balayage that I didn't have the time to keep maintained until my visit. My poor hair was neglected for too long, and I was recommended to see Arielle. I was pretty nervous - I have thick Asian hair, and lots of it. My hair isn't easy to work with, and many stylists in the past have failed to meet my expectations as a result. I came in knowing what lightness and tone I wanted (Goldwell, beige pearl/beige ash). Instead of telling me that she couldn't get me that light in one sitting (which is what I expected to hear since it's the response I usually get with someone new to my hair), Arielle said let's do it and started working on my hair after the consultation. Arielle absolutely nailed it and gave me even more than what I was looking for - my confidence back! I didn't add a blowout to my service as I knew my salon visits were always very long (5 hours on average) and I wasn't planning on doing anything but roll around on my couch for the rest of the day. She wanted to give me one anyway - probably because my hair just looked too good not to style and photograph! I've since moved after my first visit with Arielle. If I were still local, I would 100% continue to see Arielle. Since seeing her, I've never been fully satisfied with my balayage at other salons and with different stylists.
