Friendly atmosphere!

First time here as I have driven past this Pub many times and wish to give them a try and glad I did finally! Staffs are very friendly and everyone followed the Covid Check-in Protocol and other cleaning procedures to the tee! Menu is extensive for a Pub, on a rainy Wednesday noon, the place was filled and there was hardly a parking space left! Our super nice server Tanya was on her top speed all through as most of the customers all came at once, yet she was still very professional and made sure we got our orders and to our satisfaction! Food: Love their wings, looked dry but actually very moist and well seasoned!! Dry Ribs, super meaty and flavourful, would have been perfect with a huge glass of beer!! Seafood Club!! Overflowed with baby shrimp & crabmeat, will order again for sure, love the crispy bacon! Overall, a great venue to stop and grab a bit on the super busy Mary Hill Bypass!!

Brunch buffet $15.95

We went to the Brunch Buffet on Sunday. We drove from downtown and it was totally worth it. They have a great selection of food, and the food is good. There's a lack of buffets around Vancouver and the lower mainland, so it is really great to see this place service such a fantastic buffet.

Kalamari - a bit rubbery and tasteless. :(

I've been here a long time ago and I thought my Dad who likes seafood would like it here to celebrate an early Father's Day lunch. We got here just before 1pm on a Thursday and the place was packed. Luckily we found a nice table in the half moon semi-booth area. Our waitress took our drink orders right away and gave us time to review their menu with good selection of traditional pub food and other specialties. I decided to go with the kalamari and my Dad ordered the cioppino. While we waited for our meals, we got a chance to observe the maritime theme and the beautiful view of the Pitt River. I'm not normally a patio eater however if the view is gorgeous, as was the case at the Gilnetter, then I would have asked for a table outside if immediately available. Sadly, most people linger in the patio as I would have. Back to inside the pub, for a packed restaurant, it was quieter than expected, even with the background music. I noticed the clientele was mostly retired people; perhaps because of the time of day. Our food took awhile to come out of the kitchen. At least the person who delivered them was apologetic and the food was still warm. My kalamari was crunchy with a light batter however it didn't taste like much. The tsatsiki was a bit too runny and could also use a bit more garlic and lemon. My Dad really enjoyed his cioppino. It had plenty of shellfish and chunks of salmon and a white fish (halibut?). He said it was a bit spicy but he didn't mind it and would definitely order again. The Gillnetter is a nice neighbourhood pub and I would come back again. I probably just ordered the wrong thing.

Great service and the food was delicious. Thankfully the waitress suggested a half order nacho. We still had to get a take out box.

Went in, sat down. Waitress walked by us about 3-4 times over 10 minutes. Didn't greet us or offer drinks. We left.

This place is confusing. The decor teeters between hip…read more and shabby that is mos def not chic. The band is great,  the food is not. The steak bites are cubed and fried to death. Saganaki was inedible and an embarrassment to an ostensibly Greek kitchen. Staff are good, friendly,  and they git' er done. Only one toilet working in each bathroom. The jury is out... (And please put those dying plants out of their misery)

Well, maybe they're new…read more Not a pleasant surprise, by the way. An old fave,, hey, post-covid (1st wave) they're open, yay! Facebook says so, 3-9! Uh, yeah. They're open. Same menu covers. Menu by someone unfamiliar with how to structure a menu in order to be understood by people who spend a LOT of time in restaurants. Bad Word document with an unnecessary colour printer. Explanations for the obvious, no explanations for the obscure. Very odd. -1 What else? Ooh, look, it's ALL greek. Uh.. okay? Weird, but sure. I like greek. I WANTED the Yorkshire puddings and I thought I was in a pub.. but sure. Started with a fan fave: saganaki. Tip to the chef: if you don't heat it enough, it doesn't melt from lighting it on fire. Very crispy, not too salty. Also not melty. Hmm.. -1 $6 garlic shrimp with pitas! Whoo... shrimps are big, garlic is indiscernible, pitas is whole wheat. Surprise! Oh, and that reminds me: saganaki served without pita. Whole wheat pita is...okay. not great. A bit surprising. -1 Uh... g-pita burger what? Beef patties (with a LOT of something unidentifiable and green in them, spinach maybe? No idea.) With a very scant sprinkling of feta. One patty is fine, sort of. Not juicy and delicious or anything but fine. They're 3" across more or less...two of them on a sliced apart pita (not whole wheat, now I am just confused) the other patty is a rock. Inedible, can't cut it with a serrated steak knife. Replaced with (clearly, I have had many!) a premade all-beef patty... also fine, but really oily. Edible. Not great. -1 Spinach pie (on a menu made by people who think they know that no one will know what spanakopita is (but will know saganaki?) Um... yeah. Not bad. Again: none if this was bad. It just also wasn't very good. Not enough phyllo, nowhere near enough butter to make it... well... put it this way: it was soft. A few crispy crumbs, but this was like when you take the leftovers home and put them into a Tupperware and then tomorrow... maybe the day after, you take them to lunch and microwave them. Soft. Not strongly flavoured. Not buttery. Should not have put them in the fridge. No cheese flavour at all. -1 I have had better greek food at Earl's. And the house wine is not only $9 a glass, it is SWEET wine. That needed a warning sign. Ooh, nice view. (Boston / Philadelphia stanley cup final rerun from maybe 1980? on tv...why?) Edited to add: tzatziki. Well, that is the name on the menu. Is it, though? I honestly have no idea what it was. I have never had bouncy textured tzatziki that kind of pulls into peaks when you take some out or dip something in it. Kind of flavourless, if there was cucumber, dill, onion or yogurt in it, it's news to me.

They have a patio outside, a mezzanine and quite a few tvs for you to watch games. We got the pineapple wok squid, brussel sprouts and the big "o" chicken sandwich/burger. They asked if we want regular or spicy version for the chicken, We asked for the spicy one. The pineapple wok squid was unique as it had a slight curry flavor and the pineapple gives it a tangy flavor which is an interesting combination that works. I didn't taste the garlic in the dipping sauce, maybe because of the curry taste. It was good. The chicken burger was good as it has cole slaw, pickles, and range sauce. When we told the waitress that we were sharing, she asked if we wanted the burger pre-cut in half. Not a lot of places would have asked that, so that was really good of her to ask. The brussel sprouts were good too as it was crispy but not burnt. If we are in the area again, we will definitely come back, maybe for their happy hour

Wings are $2 more ($12.99) - I should have taken a pic or two of the menu to get all of the differences. Obviously, you're supplementing cost with your DD fees when you order delivery. The fellow behind the bar was super-friendly. He was working solo (dropped in there about 1:30pm on a Wed - not exactly "happy hour") :). I ordered two pints of their near-hazy pale ale, wings and potato skins and it came to $45. Not horrible, but the wings were the smallest size that Sysco sells (think pigeon) and the potato skins were tiny as well. Shrunken that the fillings didn't fill the skin. Repeat? Nope. Though, hate to say that as I found the bartender quite personable. There were a few regulars at the bar when I dropped in. Hoping this place sees a lot more activity on regular pub nights. Suggestions: get the medium-sized chicken wings (not the ginormous "turkey-sized wings"!) and make certain that the potato skins at least get alll of the potato back into them before you add the topings. :)
