Dropped my wedding dress off December 9, 2025. Went to get fitted on January 7, 2026. I was pinned and told it would be ready for my last fitting on May 7, 2026 and pick up date would be May 9, 2026. Go to pick up dress on the 7th, they didn't alter it. They told me i lost weight instead. I was then told i wasn't a good christian because i have tattoos on my arm. i told them i would be back on May 9 to pick up my dress after they had asked me to pick it up on the 11th. (i get married the 16 and will be out of town starting the 11th). i told them no i would be picking it up on the 9th as promised. I get there on the 9th at 1:00 and i go to put it on, it's too small. i couldn't get into it. So i told them again i can't get into my dress because it's too small but two days ago they told me I had lost weight and that's why it didn't fit. I let them know once again. I would not be leaving this area until I had my wedding dress in hand and that I would be back before they closed at 3 o'clock. i got my dress at 3:00. moral of a story I would not recommend this business. There is no communication between employees. My dress was forgotten about and the excuse that was brought up was I lost weight instead of just admitting that they forgot. they continued to try and make me pick up my wedding dress three days before I get married and I kept telling them I could not because it is an out-of-town wedding and I was commented on not being a good enough Christian because I had tattoos. 10/10 do not recommend. read more

Absolutely terrible place, do not take your wedding dress here!! I have them my dress the beginning of September and my wedding was November 2, 2024. I was supposed to pick up October 30th. I came to pick up and they hadn't even started on it! 3 days before my wedding. They promised to have it done that night but didn't contact me until late the next day. I came to pick it up and they totally messed up the front of my dress. I asked them to cover the cleavage and my boobs were still hanging out. They promised to have it fixed by the morning and I did pick it up that next morning thinking it was fine. Then Its wedding day and as Im putting my dress on I realize there are still safety pins underneath the first couple layers of tulle. They didn't even finish hemming it!! I had to have my coordinator safety pin it up to keep me from tripping on it. Almost $800 wasted!!! read more

Amazing alterations! A week before my wedding I disliked my previous altered dress from another location specifically the sleeves! Called Gill's on Saturday they were able to take off my old sleeves, create my new dress sleeves and fix a few small other latches and stitches on my dress in 4 days! I have been using Gil's for over 25 years and get almost half of my wardrobe altered - hemmed, pinned, fasteners added, etc. and routinely have my boys get their suits altered here. I can't say enough about Gil's and will never go anywhere else. From the service to the work they do, this business couldn't be improved. Most importantly, the work is PERFECT! The seams they leave look identical to the ones on the original garment, and you cannot tell that the item has been altered. I have not found any other alterations place that can change the clothing and make it look exactly like the one originally bought off the store rack. I moved into the area a year ago and researched to find the best alterations services. I grew up sewing for myself, so have a very critical eye when it comes to sewing. I was excited to come across Gill's Alterations because Sandy's level of training and expertise stood out among all others. She has now made three perfect pillow coverings for me out of expensive wool mohair velvet. It takes a highly skilled professional who is sensitive to details to confidently work with special fabrics like that. I appreciate her pride in doing good work, and I highly recommend her. Tip found in GQ: "The difference between a good tailor and a bad one is obviously skill and their level of training. But the most important aspects are patience and attention to detail. So often with alterations, people make the request to turn it out as fast as possible (i.e., can you have this done by tomorrow?). A great alterations tailor will simply tell you "no" - they can't finish it by tomorrow because they want their work to speak for themselves and they want to do the job right. I love Sandy! I've been using her services for some 10+ years. What I like about her sewing is that it doesn't fall apart after a while. Her work really does stand up to the test of time. I've used her in the past to alter dresses that were too wide or jeans that were to long. I've always found her price to be fair. (You really get what you pay for). She takes the time to examine each garment so that when she does the alteration it really keeps its shape and integrity. She also works things out pretty fast so the turn around rate is pretty quick. Even though I've moved out of this area whenever I have something that needs to be altered I still drive out to her because I trust her and I know she will always take good care of me and my clothes. Her shop in located on Canto Road next to the Ace Hardware and the post office. There are plenty of parking and she is closed on Saturdays. Next time if you need stuff altered. Give Sandy a try. If you need any sort of alterations, this is the place to go. Sandy is INCREDIBLE! I bought a prom dress and really didn't like the neckline on the front, so I brought it in and they had me try it on and show them exactly what I had in mind. I was nervous because the dress was this sequin/glitter material and knew it might have been more difficult to alter, but when i picked it up it was exactly what I wanted! Prom and party dresses take precedence over wedding dresses here even if you drop your dress off long before prom season. Sandy was very thorough at our first appointment to make sure she addressed all of the areas of the wedding dress my daughter needed altered. She never made us feel rushed. When we picked it up, I don't know who was more excited - my daughter or Sandy!
