Not the most impressive rest stop that Texas has built (ahem, Navarro county? Walker county?), but…read moreit's still a step up from the basic picnic areas in the middle of nowhere. It provides an adequate amount of shade near the main building and several walkways to roam through the grass. The men's restroom could use a touch up but looked acceptable. Not sure what the deal was with the gated vending machines; they're mostly empty and hard to reach through the gates. While this stop does the job for a quick bathroom break, its usefulness is completely overshadowed by the town of Kerrville just a couple miles west on I-10. I saw plenty of fast food restaurants and gas stations right off the Kerrville exit which looked much more comfortable. When heading westbound, the exit for this rest stop states that the next *official* stop isn't until another 120 miles, but you can find plenty of small towns along the way. I will say, this stop does have well kept lawns. I saw several kids happily running around. Not my choice of activity in this sweltering heat, especially since there's a lack of natural shade, but I can see the appeal in stopping here in a time crunch.

The flowers are beautiful. The ground keepers should be favorably recognized for their hard work maintaining this rest area.

There were other people milling about, including two maintenace workers painting the I-Beams. The restrooms were impeccably clean and well-maintain, which is great because I'm a stickler about public bathrooms. The exterior landscaping and buildings were also in excellent condition. I never hesitate to stop here. You should too!

It's got a rare restroom here in the middle of the freeway, which is more efficient than one on each side of the roadway like elsewhere! The restrooms here induce some sort of vertigo with me here. Someone has gone to great lengths to tile the inside of this place with a mosaic of colors, which, in my opinion, is rather disorientating and makes me dizzy! But, the coolest part of the tile work is a large mosaic of swimming in the Frio river with a rope swing off a Texas Cypress tree. It's picturesque, but it is a restroom. Outside in the rest area, they've got placards to teach y'all a bit about the Texas area and history, with a big Texas Lone Star made of metal in the lobby area. There was plenty of parking when I went, both for cars and for RVs. The place was well-lit and safe. Someone was actively working in the center, and there was a repairman in the building when I went, so it was pretty busy. There was a playground and picnic tables too, if you're interested in getting out on a slide or monkey bars and eating some snacks. Really, this is a great Texas rest stop that makes travelling the miles and miles of Texas to be a pleasure!

The rest rooms are clean and you might find just a little bit of shade next to one of the trees or the building if the sun is shining in the right direction. This rest area serves the traffic in both directions with separate lanes for each so you don't have to be too concerned about an accidental U-turn. History about the general area and who was the mastermind behind the creation of the rest stop. I learned facts about Seguin that I knew nothing about. Amazing! The ladies restroom was immaculate clean and smelled good too! I admired the turquoise blue doors and how pretty the restroom was. I can't wait to stop here again!

every once in a while everything lines up exactly wrong; this is the story of one of those times…read more.. coming up from the southern border I needed a safe place to arrange lodging for the evening and stuff so I opt for a sanctioned rest area. the deceleration lane becomes (parallel) parking becomes the acceleration lane in all of maybe 1000 feet! no turns, no barriers, no problem!! there might be room for a half dozen tractor-trailers to line up on the left, maybe ten cars plus two accessible spots on the right, and traffic goes right down the middle; looks like an odd sort of bowling alley so head up, phone down, and pay attention. the whole thing is maybe 100' front to back separated from the highway by a curb and the local neighborhood by a chain link fence but there's a lawn and some picnic shelters, vendo-land is well stocked, free Wi-Fi, clean restrooms, and a dump station - which is kind of the same thing but not really... Tons of parking spaces for cars and trucks with clean restrooms and great amenities. Great place to check out in the summer to escape the scorching sun.

So my father being as old as he is has to stop every 60 miles to go to the bathroom, damn all that medicine he takes. Any ways....i decided to stop and stretch a bit while he ran in. Right when you get into parking lot it's free and clear of any trash. The bathrooms are located inside the rest stop building that has a small museum in it with snacks and drinks. There is even a kids play area right outside that is pretty solid. New and shaded area for a quick pic nic and a few nice trees with park benches underneath them. Now if you have the four legged family pet there is also a dog walking trail. I don't of course so I didn't check it out. I'm really impressed. It felt like I was in a huge park ready to enjoy some perfect scenery. If you ever need to stop and stretch this is a location I would suggest. It's definitely not like the scene in the movie "There's Something about Mary" with Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz. If you haven't seen this movie before sure to YT that scene. You will get the joke. If you're not stopping, we can't be friends. Needed a break and do some shopping. Had to grab their 250 anniversary American shirt. Which comes with a Buc-ee's sticker. I usually put on my car, then it fades with the Texas sun and I peal it off till I get a new one. Customer service is on point. Everyone is nice, polite, helpful, and just Southern. Love coming here. It's always packed, so I'm not the only one that gets it. God bless Buc-ee's

It's in a great and safe area with an amazing view and right by a castle winery next door! First off, going into the room, it was so much bigger than expected! The decor was absolutely modern and cute, but most importantly super clean! If you're patio door was facing the towards the Fredricksburg direction, you get lucky to watch the sunset views along with a few cows in the distance. Such peaceful and beautiful views. If you didn't get the sunset rooms, I was able to watch the sunset from the hot tub which was also very clean! I loved that there is a little secret (not so secret) path that connects you straight to the castle winery!!! Perfect idea for a girls winery weekend especially if you rather play it safe and not drive, just grab drinks and food next door and walk back to the hotel and enjoy the pool! Honestly it was a great choice, we went to the garrison brothers distillery which is 10 mins from this hotel as well which is also a great thing to have nearby. Will definitely tell others about this place. Loved it!
