Started off with a good experience with Shepherds, but by the time installation came, it turned…read morepretty sour. The tile guy, Trenton(?) was awesome, but the carpet folks they sent took many shortcuts and left an atrocious mess. They also ripped out all of our baseboard because they "misunderstood" us when we told them not to. In addition, they didn't level out our living room adequately, which Shepherd's tile guy agreed. In our formal room, they did not finish the carpet transition properly, and the carpet began lifting a few hours after they left. Their carpet installer refused to acknowledge any issues. Shepherds then sent Trenton back, who is their tile guy, to fix the carpet issue. He mentioned that the way in which the carpet guys over-stretched the carpet would be an issue within the year, and he was right. We are now experiencing lifting of the carpet at the edge and it is beginning to destroy the carpet. It has been only a year. We will be seeking out options to remedy this experience.

It took them months to come fix the biggest one and, when they came back, they wrecked a wall with the pry bar they pulled baseboards off with and scratched paint on the wall and baseboard. It seemed like after the cleaning it would be dirty again within the week. It was frustrating enough that I had been talking about replacing the carpet soon. I didn't deal with the technician when he came as my husband was the one that arranged it and towards the end of the cleaning I could hear him say "You'll want to erect a statue in my name after this..." well, not quite but he went the extra mile, went over the high traffic areas a second time and I couldn't believe it when I came out of the office...our carpet literally looked new. I was afraid it was just an illusion and the wicking would start but it never did. We did have to dry the carpet with the blower the rest of the day...which he warned us about but it was just as clean when dry. I wish I had taken a before picture. It looked similar to the some of the ones posted here. I do have an after so you can see it looks new. This is a 5 year old carpet in a home with pets, teenagers and where we eat in the livingroom often along with our kids friends. High traffic with perfectly clean carpet under the furniture. Isn't clean carpets the point? I was glad that the technician cared enough about his job to do it right and it's obvious he takes pride in his work...maybe not a statue but an unexpected Yelp review might do it. :) We're planning on using them again for our 4-plex and other areas of the home.

The price quoted was $99 for 450 sf and $.30 a square foot after that. But upon arrival, the tech told me of charges for pre-treatment, stains and stain-guard. To get what I wanted (clean carpets), I ended up paying $300 for the entire job. I am perfectly happy paying that for what I got and I don't want this experience to overshadow the results.
