This was in Booton, NJ, on the way back to Syracuse, NY. The shop was a large room with tables for open gaming and tournaments, and the walls were lined with merchandise for sale--ranging from board games to trading cards. There was plenty of light, and the people playing Magic towards the back were very friendly and welcoming. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice! The coolest part is you can ask for the secret password, based on a quest posted outside the space down the road a little bit, and you can get into the Gaming Lounge addition. When you go in to the Gaming Lounge, it feels like you're stepping into some kind of hobbit hole, and the further back you go, the more space there is to play games with friends. There is even a fireplace! The space is super cozy and features a huge wall of games to play with friends. If I lived anywhere near by, I would go to this shop all the time! There's one extra bookshelf that I didn't catch and there's a display case in front with CCG cards. Shopping experience aside, you can tell this place has a good community. There were four tables occupied in the back around 4 PM on a Saturday - maybe representing 10 people - and there's a big communal shelf you can draw from if you want to play in house. I held a family membership at this store for about 18 months. My son and I went there to play D&D…read moretwice a week. We cancelled our membership tonight. We had been planning to cancel for a few months since the games just were not fun and the adult men were acting inappropriately in front of minors. I cannot state strongly enough that this is not a place to take your kids. Pros: The games were reliable. DMs were on time and would arrange another DM to cover if they were unable to attend. This was the main reason we hung in there as long as we did. Cons: Too much AI used by the DMs. Too many players at the table. The DMs get $5 store credit for each player so they pack in as many as they can and state the reason is for the $5 for each player. Sitting at a table with 11 players is ridiculous and nothing gets done. DMs do not move the game along. One round of combat, on the average was taking 45-60 minutes. On numerous occasions, a 4 hour session would consist of 4 rounds of combat which took up the entire session. My son was one of two teenagers that played. He was 13, turned 14 and the other boy was 14 turned 15. With these two young boys in the room, the grown men would make masturbation and sexual references in front of the boys, and joke directly with the older (15 year old) boy about masturbation and sex. They never joked directly with my son since I stated it was inappropriate. On top of that they would constantly use obscene language in front of children, dropping F-bombs three in a sentence. I made it clear that it is inappropriate to curse and make sexual references in front of minors, but they did not stop. At times, there would also be drinking by a player, and a DM. It did not get too out of hand, though. There is an inner circle of 6 players that have been there for a while playing together. If you are not in the inner circle, you will most likely be treated as an outsider, unless you are a young attractive female, then you get the royal treatment. An example of disparate treatment was on one occasion when the party was split and the inner circle characters were in one room and new characters were on the way, the leader of the inner circle stated "It's ok, let's move forward, all the characters that matter are here." I saw the expression of another player who looked disgusted, and she later told me how offended she felt. She never came back. This is just one of many examples. We played for about 18 months, and there were a few good sessions. Most of the time we were both thinking about how long it was before the session was over so we could go home. In retrospect, we stayed too long. In full disclosure, tonight the owner, Josh, called me aside. In 18 months we had never spoken more than "hello". He shared that a few players (inner circle) complained that my son expressed frustration at times during the game, and he was told it discouraged roleplaying for others. I shared that my son does enjoy combat more than roleplay and both are important in the game. He has never stopped anyone from roleplaying. He has never told anyone not to talk to an NPC. He chooses not to. Their style is not more important than his. I shared that I have many issues with what goes on in the gaming room and when prompted I shared some of the above. Josh was obviously not aware of the behavior that is going on. I did not mention to Josh, but should have, that players who we met there, who are not inner circle, have approached my son and I to play in home games and they will not be inviting others from the store. My son and I play in two other games (one of them I DM) at a different store, where we have no problems at all and players act appropriately in front of minors. In conclusion, take my opinion for what you will, knowing that you may consider it tainted by being approached. But Josh and I had a private and calm conversation where we both shared our concerns. Once again, I do not recommend taking children to this store. It is NOT a family friendly environment.

I even was able to pick up these tiny little cutting masks for working with little bits of bobs, which was all very reasonable price. They also had 3D printers there and I think if you needed to have a miniature printed you have to email a specific person at the shop and they can do that for you. All in all, this is a pretty nice local friendly game store and definitely worth patronizing over the corporate behemoths. Additionally, it doesn't hurt. There's not many in the area and this is probably the closest one for a long drive. So if you have any game store needs you should definitely check this place out.

The price is $10 per visit. They allow outside food and there are drinks to buy at the store. The store is decorated with lots of game memorabilia and they have games to buy as well. The bathroom is decorated in game posters to continue the game store theme. There is a large closet where there are games stacked up to the ceiling and you can play any of the games in the game library. We also bring our own games to play. The owner is very nice and accommodating. He allowed us to reserve in advance a night to play games. This gaming store is located on Main Street in downtown East Stroudsberg. Inside the store, the first area to greet you is board games, with options for different game styles and interests available. Pretty ok selection for reasonable prices. Towards the middle of the store is the cash register area on the right with collectors' "weapons" displays overhead for safe keeping and display. To the left is a section with American DC/Marvel comics and a small shelf of manga. Further back is a smaller, more specific modeling and other comic related section, followed by open tables in the back for Magic and other card games. Terrific idea to incorporate tables for player interaction and provide a space for gamers to enjoy games in person. In the very back is an e-sports area with consoles and computers set up. When I visited, these weren't in use, but good idea for non-covid times. I also noticed signs posted up for special game nights on certain days a week, for example one sign listed a Pokémon weekly game night. Covid-related: staff wore masks as did most of the patrons. There is a sign on the door requesting customers to wear face coverings. There did not seem to be a limit on # of people in the store, and when I was there on a Saturday early afternoon there was probably around 10 people in the front section of the store and about a dozen seated in the game-play area in the back.

I attended a League Cup as a player on December 7th, 2025. During one of the rounds, I witnessed…read morethe following incident between two players, I will refer to here as Player 1 and Player 2. Player 1, who was new to completive play, shuffled his deck after a deck search, but did not offer it to Player to for a cut before drawing from a card effect. Player 2 called a judge after this happened. After reviewing the situation, the judge issued Player 1 a warning for failing to present the deck for a cut. Following this ruling, Player 2 became visibly upset and began using profanity and getting very angry, where I was feeling unsafe. Player 1 attempting to deescalate the situation responded, "you don't have to rule shark me over it." Player 2 then escalated the situation by saying, " meet me outside and see what F***ing happens" along with other curses and violent threats. The head judge, Alan, attempted to disqualify both players, despite Player 1 being the target of the threats. Player 2 left the venue. Player 1 stated he would contact the police regarding the threats if he was disqualified, the judges allowed Player 1 to stay and finish the tournament, where he placed second. During the tournament, Judge Alan proceeded to act unprofessionally towards Player 1, and threw prize packs aggressively at him at the end of the rounds. After the event concluded, the judges informed Player 1 that he was banned from future tournaments at that store. Based on what I witnessed, and as an active member in the community and pokemon professor, I believe this decision was unfair, as Player 1 did not instigate the confrontation and was subjected to direct threats from Player 2. This store and the judges have a very bad reputation in the area, being unfair to new players and unsafe for women to play. The judges have also made fun of the community calling them "autistics". I strongly believe that they should not be in good standings with the Pokemon Play Community and should not be a sanctioned store.
