We wanted to completely redo our master bathroom and move a wall so that we could add a bathtub. First we worked with Mega's design consultant, Laissa. She was incredibly patient and helpful and guided us through the process of designing our bathroom, choosing all the fixture and tiles, etc. I have no idea how we would have done it without her. I especially appreciated how they gave us a spreadsheet of all of the fixtures and their prices so that we could easily see how every change of fixture affected the overall price of our project. Once the design was finished, Ibrahim, Juan, and the rest of the construction team took over. They were unfailingly polite and considerate while they were in our home. They were even kind enough to wear masks when we requested it (we have an immunocompromised family member). The construction team regularly consulted us whenever they wanted to confirm a decision and the work was finished well within the time frame we'd been promised. Our bathroom is so beautiful that my mom regularly drags family members upstairs to admire it when we have family events at our home. We did have one issue after construction was finished: a stubborn leak that kept coming back. Mega was very responsive when we reached out to them about the issue and was very proactive about making sure it was fixed and repairing any damage it caused. It took me so long to write this review because I don't like saying bad things about companies but after today December 8, 2018 when I found my BRAND NEW Redskins Hoodie turned inside out with PAINT and PLASTER all over it and stashed behind some storage boxes in an upstairs spare bedroom that was the last straw!!!!!! They took the time to turn it inside out and hide it. I did not have work done in any bedrooms so there was no reason for them to even open the door. I had all 3 bedroom doors closed. I'm sure this was done when I left my elderly family member here for 1 day because I had to go back to work. They actually took the hoodie off the hanger and rubbed it in paint on purpose. I only found it because I was pulling out Christmas decorations. These people are evil and I guess they are not Redskins fans. If I could leave my phone number in this review I would just so I can tell you the horrors I went thru. They drank 2 cases of my water without my permission and then put the half empty bottles in my freezer. I had to trash everything in the fridge. They left water rings from the bottles on my furniture. They wrote the words F**k You on my laminate flooring boxes. I reported this to the owner Sergio and he was supposed to come and talk to me but he sent his son to talk to me which was a waste of time. In October I was moving stuff around and saw some strange symbols carved in my brand new $1500 Bose Soundbar box. This box was behind my sofa unopened for 6 years and no one ever touched it but me so who carved this crap? It was not there went I bought it from Circuit City. When my house flooded I didn't want any electronics put in storage so this box was in the room where they were working. I was looking around my house for 2 months for my brand new hoodie and today I find it covered in paint. I left Sergio a message and sent him pictures of my hoodie. I'm sure I will get no response. My concern now is how many other things will I find in my house that was destroyed by these people. I am so mad right now I want to get the police involved. I was very nice to these guys ....I bought them lunch one day and I gave them water everyday not knowing that they were stealing water I had in my storage room. Sergio kept telling me it was ok to leave them in my house alone I said no I don't leave anyone in my house alone. I ended up using most of my vacation time. Oh...did I mention the spit I found on my floor after they left. DO NOT LEAVE THESE PEOPLE IN YOUR HOUSE ALONE. I have cameras but with the construction going on I turned them off. BIG MISTAKE on my part. I would have had the person on camera. My project was supposed to take 3 maybe 4 days but it ended up taking 8 or 9 days just to paint and add flooring to the first floor of a very small townhouse. Then they had to come back on a Saturday to fix things that they did wrong or sloppy. I have baseboards that are not straight. I have quarter round that is not attached (I went to sweep and the section just came off). They had to come back and re paint my whole kitchen. You could still see the old white walls thru the new gray paint (they did a rush job on the kitchen). If you decide to use this people wait at least 2 weeks after the work is completed because you will find tons of stuff that is not done properly. They installed a powder room light fixture and I touched and it fell sideways. I pulled the bathroom sink stopper pole up and it came all the way out in my hand. I have paint spots on my new paver patio in the backyard (still cant figure out why they were in my backyard with paint) I paid them to paint my front door but they did not do it. I had to call and finally they came back and painted it. Sergio refused to fix my baseboards . He said my floors are not level..LOL. I might be a woman but I'm not stupid. I sent Sergio a text message and I told him he needed to send his workers back to fix this stuff and call me to discuss. He replied "I have nothing to discuss the work is over". But had the nerve to ask me for the money for installing a bathroom light that almost fell off the wall when I touched it. The transition piece of wood between the hall and laundry room was not even glued down. It was sticking up. They painted my laundry room and storage room bi-fold doors and didn't let them dry but placed them up against each other so all 3 doors stuck together and were damaged when they pulled them apart. I could go on and on....but I wont. I will be reporting this company to every agency I can find.

We got a quick response to our online request for a quote and Edgar was at the house within a week and at a time that was mutually convenient to give us a quote. He was thorough in explaining the quote, including the "forks in the road" that might lead to a more expensive total cost. The pricing (including the possible expansion in scope & cost) was completely transparent. When it turned out that we had some rotten fascia and a flat roof that would need replacement, the team was diligent in sharing very clear photographs of the damage, as well as transparent that the flat roof repair we needed was not in their wheelhouse. They paused the work so that we could get the flat roof repaired and then resumed installation as soon as the other contractor had finished the work. I can't imagine a better experience.

Ft. apartment, removing badly worn, engineered flooring. The result is fantastic, the professionalism was top notch, and the cost likely will be fully recovered when we eventually resell. They also, at no additional charge, corrected a problem with one of the 13 years old carpets. I recommend them highly and would not hesitate contracting with them again.

J&E Modern Construction renovated both our unfinished basement and outdoor breezeway of our almost…read more100-year-old rowhouse in NE WASHINGTON, DC. They did a FANTASTIC job! The job included demolition of existing non-weight-bearing walls, new framing, insulation, sheetrock, ceiling; new flooring, doors, windows, overhead lights/wiring; upgrading the stairway to 1st floor; building "mechanical room" for boiler; plus framing, screening, ceiling, tiling back breezeway; installing breezeway fans;; plastering & painting; and other finish work. We did NOT need the full bathroom done; it was already done. We also purchased & J&E installed stackable washer/ventless dryer. The finished basement includes a guest bedroom with private back entrance and private access to bathroom, a small room to be used as a recording studio, hallway/general access to washer/dryer, and small sitting area at base of the steps. Breezeway now provides a screened in patio. Importantly, J&E discovered some structural decay in the brick support pillars and beams/crossbeams at the back of the house in the breezeway and were able to repair the issue quickly and attractively for a reasonable additional fee. While J&E was not the least expensive bid we received, the quality, timeliness, and thoroughness of their work was first rate! Additionally, the communication channels (via WhatsApp) connected all the team leadership easily and efficiently. The response time was speedy. Yair Delayahu spent considerable time assessing the job; his estimates were incredibly detailed & parsed out financially. Shay Ovadia, and Orlando were terrific in guiding the project, and crew member Oliver and his teammates, plus electrical/plumbing teams, were all tremendously skilled, punctual, courteous, and responsive. I did not have a good experience at all with this company. First, they changed project managers on…read moreme just before they came out to do that work without explanation. When the work started, they moved at a glacier pace with erratic attendance. There were days they did not show up at all, other days they would show up unexpectedly at 7am, and leave at 10am. This was never communicated with me. Next, mistakes started happening. They painted the walls the wrong color. They put up the shower door on the wrong side. They also put up the window blind backwards so I couldn't reach or use the rod to open and close it. After the shower door went up backwards, the project manager fired the workers, but the had no one to finish the work. When they finally came back to fix the shower tiles wrecked when the door went up on the wrong side, they didn't align the replacement tile patterns with each other so the pattern is disjointed and doesn't line up at all. The project manager told me it's not supposed to line up!? After complaining about it 3 times, they finally offered to replace the tiles. But they stalled on ordering them and now it's out of stock. There are also other problems - the shower faucets are not properly secured to the shower walls, the vanity light is separating from the wall and the light switch fixture is also separating from the wall. The floor tile is irregular with grout lines sometimes thick in places, other times nonexistent. Currently, they are not returning my calls or texts. I've even reached out to the owner who came out and promised to fix everything, but commented that I was overly concerned with "small" details. Now he has not returned my calls or texts about when he will come to fix things. Maybe I am concerned with details but I'd think that is common when paying 20k to have a bathroom redone according to an approved plan. At the very least, I expected that shower tile patterns would match up and that things would be well grouted or secured in shower and on walls. This was my first renovation in my first home and I'm so disappointed in how it turned out and how I was treated by the team. Also, this 2 week project took 5 and 1/2 weeks to get to where it is now. Overall the project was done carelessly with no attention to detail and with no acceptance of their mistakes and no attempt to repair the problems identified. I see they have had good reviews in the past, but my project did not go well at all. I would definitely recommend choosing another company. When I first complained they asked me not to write a bad review and I said that along as everything was fixed we had a deal. Nothing has been fixed and they are not communicating with me. I know have to either pay another company more money to fix their mistakes or take legal action to resolve the simple issues that could be easily fixed. If detail and having a project done to your liking is important I would not recommend H&C at all.
