Decided to stop here for something to eat after a long day of traveling and a recommendation by a local. We sat outside and it was the end of the days so absolutely beautiful! The guys got beer and there were so many to choose from. I got a fish taco that was pretty good but I think overcooked so it was a little dry. We got chips, salsa and guacamole which were very good. The guacamole had some pickled onion and a citrusy taste. I loved it. We also got the elote and it was the best I've had. I saw a nice looking drink at another table that looked like a strawberry smoothie so I got one. I think it was a strawberry smoothie with wine, it was very good. I'm on vacation so I probably won't be back but if you are wondering, it is definitely worth a try. read more

And the service is 11/10 (if you get the gay guys, the cis college women are just OK.) Highly recommend this place. The food was excellent, the quesadillas were one of the best I have ever had. The queso (cheese) was awesome. The tortilla was handmade. I got just the plain one with the salsa verde on the side. Another person in my party got the quesadilla with chicken and said it was great. The wings were a little bland, but they were the special for that day. The chips and guacamole were normal quality, but the guacamole by itself was delicious. Over all amazing experience food wise. The service was awesome they had menus on the wall and ordered at the bar. The service was good they gave people a stick with a word on it. They came out with food quickly. The ambience has an interesting "brew pub" vibe to it. Before the name, Gild, was it was known as the Gilded Lilly "back in the day." Has this progressive "college-town" feel to it today and not a "Mexican" restaurant environment at all but don't let that fool you. Ordered the guacamole and chips with salsa. Got an Elote and a chorizo taco. And a horchata. Anytime I go to "Mexican" restaurant that I haven't been to before. I always get the salsa and guacamole because that generally is going to give me an idea what the rest of the meal might be like in terms of freshness, quality, etc. Salsa and guacamole were excellent. The taco was one of the best I've had. Great flavor. The elote was presented in a way I've never seen before in all my travels. They "core" the center of the cob leaving long strips of kernels attached that you pick up and eat. Not sure what the benefit is for but it was also very good. The horchata was just okay. The service was very friendly and good. As you enter, you grab a menu for drinks, food, etc. go to the bar and place your order. Then pay get a number to place on a a table that find and wait for the server to bring out the food. Overall scored a 5 and I will definitely come back. read more

Here is brewery #274. We were the first customers when they opened up and grabbed seats at the window inside which was opened up to enjoy the beautiful day. SWFTD went with the alt-bier while I ordered a flight of four. Cónico Rojo masa cream ale is "nixtamalized". Yes, I had to look that up. I'm not going to explain it. Decent cream ale though. No off flavors etc. Common Ground Kentucky common was good. I could go back to this one. It just has an overall flavor that's, well, common. Mugshot oatmeal stout was really good. Smooth mouthfeel with roasty flavors. Dins Fire is a sugared mango grapefruit peel-solero IPA. I didn't get the mango grapefruit flavors but it was a good IPA. While enjoying our tacos we had a couple of corned beef tacos. Nothing like crossing Mexico with St Paddy's day! They were quite good. I would eat those again. Rolled into town just in time for lunch. Gild gave us something to talk about and not just the tacos. This is the first time I've gone out for Mexican food and there was no margarita. I promise you won't miss the tequila when at Gild. Why? Well because they brew their own beer and it's definitely delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. The staff was on point and not only made us feel at home but provided lots of local recommendations to add to our weekend adventures. The chips and salsa were top notch. The salsa was so flavorful and fresh. My cauliflower two was scrumptious and made on a fresh ground blue corn tortilla. My companion had the chicken and also enjoyed it.
