Ask him about the surgical care he gave to my mom Lelia Leadley December 2017. It's a long story…read morebut she spent just under a year starving due to a fistula that caused her body to be unable to use the nutrients in her food. The morning after surgery he apologized saying "I'm sorry I can't explain why she's still alive" as if we wanted her dead. He also put off surgery from 1pm to 5pm the next day because he thought she'd die and finally had to perform the surgery. He was also the reason she didn't get to Stanford claiming his team was as good but they were not. I have a witness but tort reform in CA allowed him to get away with contributing to her decline.

From the 1st introduction of my appointment Dr. Miyata wasted no time and went straight to the…read moreimportant details of my problem issue, plan and solution! He was direct on the plan of my gallbladder removal procedure. Even the day of my surgery Dr. Miyata was there and ensured me again everything was going to be 45mins. I asked how long my recovery would be and Dr. Miyata estimation really helped alot for my schedule and mind sake, especially if your have no time of just sitting around and doing nothing. My post recovery plan that he also set up for me got me back in 2 weeks moving, driving and working out again. I feel great and a difference since my gallbladder removal. I was placed in safe and caring hands! I would recommend Dr. Miyata for my family or friends that would seek of any expertise or procedure of his! Thank you again Dr. Miyata I appreciate your time and being under your care. Also thank you to all his nurses and staff they are all super kind and sweet! Best of more wishes and luck on your continued career and journey!

This review is both observations and recommendations...to both hospital staff and all patients…read more The care was not bad at Adventist Health Sonora ED, nor stellar, but with that said, I will return in the future for care if needed. Observations, the care was efficient, generally good and the staff was friendly, but the lobby triage nurse flinging gloves across the lobby like a basketball is not very professional and doesn't exude confidence for any visitor/patient. Also, greet every patient/visitor upon arrival...quit your side chatter and help your customer. Recommendations: The Physician's Assistant (PA) informed me that since I could move my arm, that I didn't have a torn rotator cuff...it makes me think of the statement that if you can move your arm, leg, etc. that it's not broken! All of which are 100% wrong! Please don't inform patients of such things...until all testing is completed AND don't assume everyone is a drug seeking patient. Having been in healthcare, yes, at the bedside and other positions for a LONG time, patients' prefer honest information...not incorrect data/diagnosis. They also prefer to not be in pain! The same PA told me to take an over-the-counter topical medication for the pain I was experiencing...with no offer of even non-narcotic methods of pain control. I understand that healthcare in general is limiting the use of narcotics (for good reason), but there are other great medications that work wonders (such as Toradol) that could've been offered. Patients/families...be your own advocate!!! If I had only followed the advice of the PA, I wouldn't have pursued a second opinion .. to find out that I have a complete tear of a rotator cuff tendon. This explains the reason for the severe pain I was experiencing and why I still can't lift my arm more than about 15 degrees. I've been referred to Ortho Surgery for evaluation and possible surgery to repair the rotator cuff tendon. Again, care wasn't horrible, but both staff and patients need to remember we're all people and should be taken care of from both sides (healthcare staff and by patient/family members).

I don't know why they have a patient portal. When you go to ask your doctor a question, you'll be…read morelucky to get a response. Is it the doctor or the staff that reads the question or comments for the doctor. I've tried call and you're lucky to get someone to answer the phone. The recording prompts you to leave your phone number and your call will be returned in the order it was received. Well guess what? No return call. I guess it's better to use TeleHealth now a days.
