If you want to spend the day in a waiting room Dr Hoopers office is your place. I am more than pretty sure they are double booking appointments because getting more than 2 hours behind schedule should not happen under normal circumstances. I've been with Dr. Hooper for about 7 years. I've got many issues such as chronic pain, diabetes, and COPD. His style of Medicine is tempered with common sense, a bit of humor, and the ability to listen to his patients inputs. It's very important to me that a doctor listens to his patients. Being on Medicare, I must have referrals to see a specialist. I have never had a problem getting a referal to see any specialist. His staff is friendly, and makes visiting his office a little more pleasurable. I have been seeing Dr Hooper for a few years now. He went from being someone I went to see for an acute problem to electing to have him as a primary care doc. Since then, he has treated me for broken bones, sprains, back problems, and more. He has seen me for many things and the more I see him, the more I trust him. Other reviewers have commented on his wonderful sense of humor, his annoying :) bluntness, and his gift for knowing how to treat my problems. They have commented on his kindness, and I have to agree, this man is the real deal. All of the positive comments are true. I too, had a nightmare experience with another dr and had decided that most drs were greedy quacks and I did not want to have anything else to do with them. The first time I met Dr Hooper he was working in Prompt Care on Forest Rd. My son was very young and had an ongoing rash. We had been to prompt care and his pediatrician for this rash already. At my wits end I went back to Promt Care, Dr pulls the lighted magnifying thing off the wall looks at the rash and starts counting, totally weirded out I ask what he is doing? He reply's wait a second. He finished counting to six, looks at me and says your son has scabies. He said he likes to find six live ones for a definitive diagnosis. I was hooked, I asked if he had a practice in town to which he said no but was working on it. As soon as I heard he opened one I became a patient with no regrets to this day! Tho continue, I was recently hospitalized over a weekend, the hospitality was in contact with Dr Hooper on his weekend to discuss my case with. The day I was discharged I called the office and They got me in the next day to follow up! Dr Hooper is very thorough with every patient every time. On occasion this can cause back up in the waiting room. For me I just try to be patient and remember when it's my turn I will get the same respect. I am a "pain management" patient due to migraines. Because of the state of not only this county but changing laws, Dr Hooper is very serious about the contract you sign and management of your case. If this offends you you then You are the problem. These two stories alone should be enough to prove Dr Hoopers loyalty to his patients. I read the reviews on Dr. Hooper and decided to try him as my primary care dr. His staff is very friendly & helpful - I was able to get in for a new patient appointment in about a week, I was seen on time (no wait) - I have a couple chronic type issues (not pain related) - He LISTENED to me - TALKED to me and EXPLAINED things - We were able to DISCUSS my treatment... I didn't feel rushed - in fact, he tried to get more details... I found him very friendly & easy going - very knowledgeable I was spoiled by my doctors back east - I was dreading finding someone to replace their excellent care - I was totally impressed by Dr. Hooper & his staff. He prescribed both traditional medicine - and suggested for my anxiety things like aromatherapy & told me how to try that & why it helps - And he wanted to see me back in 2 weeks, rather than making me wait a month - to see how things work for me :) It did take about a day to get all my prescriptions called in - but now that it's in their system I'm sure it won't be a hassle again :) read more

My dad went there for cronic pain, his primary doctor is retiring so he tried Dr. Hooper. His staff was wonderful but dealing with Dr. Hooper was a nightmare that I would never want to return to. My dad has actually been deppresed by his visit and refuses to return. The doctor was very rude. He asked many questions very fast and treated us like we were on the wittness stand. I choose Dr. Hooper due to pain and arthritis i have had nothing but unprofessional dealings. Was told he went over blood work which he didn't now hes found something which is contributing to my pain blows me off when i call. Gives me referral to have x-rays taken when i look at my paper work its not correct and now there trying to tell me i never brought this up. So people watch hes putting information in charts that never happened and picks what he thinks is important to put there. Very disappointed in him and staff. read more

I was recommended to Dr. Hooper by a friend who likes him. I was a refugee from a horrible experience with a truly incompetent and uncaring primary care doctor. I read a couple of negative reviews about him and almost didn't go, but as his specialty is pain management and I have severe and constant arthritis pain, I decided to check him out for myself. I'm so glad I did! The office is a little daunting, with signs all around about the rules, but Dr. Hooper has some challenging patients (I assume) and he is dealing with drugs. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I was very happily surprised. I can't speak to the experiences of others, but I had a great experience with him. I found Dr. Hooper to be caring, very knowledgeable, with a terrific sense of humor and a clearly genuine desire to help me. At 65, I have found that many doctors don't like dealing with old ladies. But there was nothing like that with Dr. Hooper. He treated me with respect and consideration and professionalism. I have recommended him to two of my friends. I've had one appointment subsequent to my original appointment, and he continues to be the doctor I had hoped to find. It really took a load of my mind to finally have a doctor I can trust, who actually listens. Also, he spent about 25 minutes with me, which is unusual in doctors these days who want to jam as many patients into their day as possible, with a result of substandard medical care. Well let's see when did I first meet Dr Hooper how about a year ago I agree with Tiffany below he's very rude man and tries to cover it up with humor you got that one right he's sarcastic he thinks he knows it all and he knows hardly anything the man put me on 24 medications I have been so sick the last 2 weeks I've been in the hospital 3 times I have a new doctor and he attributes it all to the expert care I got from mr. Hooper I would never refer him and I would never go to him again three times they've accused me of being an alcoholic one time he walked in he said mrs. Dixon we've got to talk about your drinking funny I don't drink never have Okay I lied I buy a six-pack of Corona a year and it takes me a year to drink it but that wasn't one of the cases cuz I hadn't bought one in a year they call me a liar on more than one occasion he's walked out of the office in the middle of my consultation and went to another patient because he got mad at me I think he's a drinker in fact I know he's a recovering alcoholic or is he do yourselves a favor don't go to this quack and he claims it's a know-it-all and have you seen him lately he is in the worst shape probably has all kinds of heart problems to put it bluntly I don't like you dr. My family and I have had many visits with Dr. Hooper, as well as visits outside the office for emergencies. He is a great, very knowledgeable and experienced doctor. The best general practitioner in the area; which is most likely the reason he has a wait at his office (I wouldn't consider this a bad sign). He is very attentive to your medical problem/emergency, and his diagnoses are always spot on. Seems to have a sixth sense for medicine, and also a great sense of humor.
