Adventist Health Sonora - Greenley Oaks Ear Nose and Throat

Adventist Health Sonora - Greenley Oaks Ear Nose and Throat

I saw Dr. Wester in 2023 for a nostril itch and an unpleasant smell. He prescribed a steroid, which…read moredid absolutely nothing, so I just tolerated the issue. Recently, I noticed that the itch was really bothersome, and the foul smell was increasing. I called Greenley Oaks ENT to schedule a return visit. Of course, he was scheduled way out, so I took the first available appointment on March 11, 2025, at 1545 hrs. Upon arriving, I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and checked in. As I sat down, she advised me, "He is thirty minutes behind." I accepted that as it was normal for a late afternoon appointment. Fifteen minutes went by (1600 hrs.), and a nice nurse took me back to an exam room. She took my vitals and said the doctor would be in shortly. I sat in the exam room for forty-five minutes when I decided to call the receptionist and ask if they had forgotten about me. She acted like I was an idiot. I asked her to have someone at least look in the room and tell me how much longer I would be waiting. That never happened. At 1700 hours, an hour and fifteen minutes from my scheduled appointment, I opened the exam room door and caught the nurse. She could tell I was upset. She says, "You are next". I happened to look in the room next door, and Dr. Wester was on a computer and chatting with others in the room. I said, "Hello! Am I next?" No one even had the courtesy to acknowledge me. I decided it was time to leave. I found my way back to the receptionist and advised her I was leaving and that I better not be charged for this visit. No apologies. She said I would delete the record. Never even asked if I wanted to reschedule. No goodbye, My time is just as important as a doctor's. I understand there may be times when a doctor is running late, but this was ridiculous. I will seek service from another provider. Another BLACK EYE for Adventist Health Sonora

He makes his diagnosis before the exam - what little exam there is. Not only this but he lied in the notes he sent my doctor. He said that I denied having hearing loss when I never said any such thing! I brought my sister with me to this visit and she is my witness to the rudeness this man has. I cannot understand how he calls himself a doctor. I have pain in my right ear, dizziness, vertigo, loss of hearing or muffled hearing, ringing, he diagnosed it as migraine - which I do have - but my doctor sent me there because he saw fluid in there - this guy made up his mind before even looking inside my ear....then concluded that I am stressed. Perhaps but the mannerism to tell me was extremely rude and uncalled for. I don't think he did a complete exam either. I think there is something wrong with my inner ear -

ENTs are in short supply, there's no great solution as far as getting good care quickly…read more I'd say this guy is top notch, the doctor himself gets 5 stars, it's just the office scheduling apparatus is confusing if you're a bit disorganized. Problems were really due to my own disorganization but if you aren't punctual and organized you'll have to reschedule. First off it took about 6-7 weeks to get an appointment, but this is actually good as I explain later. Apparently ENTs need an audiologist's report to have an objective chart of frequency/deficit relationships with your hearing. This takes an hour, too expensive for an MD to do--so this is done by an ancillary person-- audiologist -- who has to have a separate appointment with you. So you get two appointments. There are also two offices, one in Woodland and one in Davis and if you are get confused and go to the wrong place you'll be too late to make it to the other office and will have to make another appointment maybe a week later. Guess how I know. They do try to schedule you with the audiologist one hour before doctor at the same location so if everything goes smooth it's not a headache. So make sure you grasp not just WHEN but WHERE your appointment is, because if you google the phone number to get the appointment it's two layers, you get the referral service first who gets you on a separate call to the people who can actually tell you when and where your appointment is. And they might not remind you WHICH OFFICE your appointment is. It's definitely more clumsy than have a number getting you to a receptionist who directly looks things up. Zavod himself is great, obviously very smart, very polite but engaging with refined Old World manners. I guess the long time to get an appointment helps him from being overworked and burnt out. He takes time to thoroughly get your history and details, and the time to carefully and sympathetically explain everything. Other doctor's offices I've gone to have a crowded waiting room because they're doing a model where the MD spends the absolute minimum time to bill the service with you, tell you the general category of your diagnosis, and then the next patient is herded in. They are at best superficially genial and detached, and you can tell they are not really interested in medicine anymore. They aren't tuned into the nuances of your particular case which offer the opportunity to optimize treatment. Zavod's not like that, he seems to have his clinical curiosity and empathy intact. At one point I laughed when he was describing my moderately severe condition and he looked sort of shocked. I explained that the whole apparatus he was carefully explaining was sort of comical, and reassured him I took my condition seriously. He wanted me to take my case seriously because he himself did, which is a good ad for him. I only acted so weird because I'm sort of a Buddhist and the body is just a cloud floating by.

I called my doctor's office in the Bay Area and asked them to Callao I maybe could get in earlier. My actual dr called and they told him to have me call and they would make sure I was put at the top of the list. I have left 3 messages at his office with NO returned call. Extremely unprofessional. Especially since they told my Bay Area doctor to have he call. I guess this office does not need anymore business. Called a place in Fresno near my office and am going tomorrow 3 days after I called them. Guess they want new patients with great blue shield ins.
