Piss poor service in the gun section . Guys back there giggle and laugh when they rip people off on guns . I watched happen on more than one occasion and then they bragged about it to me. Poor business practices and high prices on transfers . The customer comes second in this place. If you are looking to sell a gun don't waste your time. If you are looking to transfer a gun dont waste your time. I had been going here since I was a kid but I won't be back because of the staff especially the ones that run the gun section. read more

Are you old enough to remember Gibson's Discount Store? I spent my whole youth shopping at Gibson's. I even worked there in sporting goods! They were big before the word Walmart was even invented! Sadly, there are two left, in Weatherford and Kerrville. Mike and I spent over an hour just wandering the aisles. It sure brought back memories. It was jam packed with merchandise, but in a nostalgic way, not in a cold corporate Walmart way. And they were busy! I browsed the toy aisles and found a cat puzzle for Glenda. The hardware aisles and the fabric area were huge, just like in the old days. We will return here, and will definitely go to the one in Kerrville! read more

Gibson's is a throwback to the general store some of us remember, or at least remember hearing about. Nicer than a five & dime, they've got a good selection of everything at a good price. And it's not just hardware -- they've got clothes, toys, crafts, everything from ammunition to aspirin. If you can't find it, one of the friendly employees will help you. You may have to wait your turn, because they're often busy, but you will get knowledgeable service with a smile. Used their service to do some FFL transfers on some things I ordered from Aero Precison. The crew there was so generous to hold on to my order for an extended period while I worked out some drivers license and other things needed some I had just moved. They were super professional and friendly about the whole thing and I was pleasantly surprised to find an honest business and opportunity to still get my goods. Thanks to everyone at Gibsons! I called Gibson where I ordered a pallet of sod last week. Which I was told it would be in Friday. I call Friday to check on it, The lady says no Bermuda just St. Augustine. I told her that I paid for it and was told this Friday not next week. Tells me to call Monday. I call and she sends me to "that dept". Guy tells me that they have to wait till they get at least 16 to 18 pallets before they can order any not just onI told him that no one told me that. That the lady took my money and said it would be in Friday which it didn't. Then the other lady told me it would be Mon or Tuesday and yet now he tells me it won't be until they get more orders. Brought my Stihl line trimmer by here that I've had for maybe 2 months and was having throttle issues. The guy behind the counter said he would take a look at it in a few days and says that their swamped. I call back three days later and get another gentleman who tells me that they are so busy it's gonna take them 3 weeks. My grass don't stop growing for those 3 weeks...... I can't have it there. I could probably take a class and figure out every part on that thing by then. I'm swinging by there today to pick it up 3 weeks is crazy. read more

I love this store. They pack so much into this place it's unbelievable. It's a throw back to the good ol days to walk the aisles. The sporting goods has stuff that people actually need and use, and they know what they they order and how long it takes to get it in. Employees are pretty rude and like to follow you around. I get that they don't want people stealing, but they make it so obvious about what they are doing. They also have a snotty attitude when you ask where something is. Ended up leaving with out buying anything. read more

I would dearly love to give this store 5 stars, but my experience at the gun counter won't allow it. The neanderthals that work back there don't like having a lone woman invade their boys club. The time I walked in with my boyfriend, we were asked if we needed help within 10 seconds. Yet if I am alone, I can stand at the counter for 5 to 10 minutes and be completely ignored and eventually have to flag down a clerk, even though they aren't that busy. (I have tried this on three occasions on different days... with the same results every time). When I finally did get someone to help me, he acted like he had better things to do-and before I had finished asking questions, another clerk came over and cut me off for a conversation with him that wasn't work related. Thanks guys, you just lost a $700 sale. The rest of the store would get 5 stars. They always seem to have those odd items that you can't find anywhere else, and the craft department does a wonderful job. read more

This store has so much for reloading ammo, they seem to have the things you need even when everyone else is out. Not to many people have reloading supplies anymore. Good selection of guns, knives, and ammo. Gun safes, holsters for concealed carry, even some nostalgic toys for the kids. Everything you need for you and your family. I love Gibsons for many reasons. They have items in stock I haven't seen in years. Bringing back the nostalgia of the 5 & dime my grandmother used to take me to. They also have reasonable prices on firearms. I came into the store today for a specific reason, to trade in my current gun for another. In speaking with the guys today at the counter I asked the first one if I could look at a wheel gun I've had my eye on for awhile. There were several that I wanted to compare. As I was looking at it a gentleman walked up and the same guy helping me walked over to him and started helping him. No excuse me I'll be right back, no take a look at it, get a feel for it while I help this guy, nothing. He walked over to him and started handing him several guns from the case. I was done looking at the first one and would have loved for the SALES guy to answer a few questions..... but no. When the gentleman left he then walked over to me and said "anything else"? Well, yes as a matter of fact, how bout a trade? I told him about my current gun and as soon as I said trade, the other guy behind the counter said (without looking at me, staring at the computer the entire time) we aren't doing trades right now, our case is full. Ok fair enough, I understand that. The point is, Gibsons, your customer service/sales guys were very rude. I'm sure had I been a male with $700 in my hand to purchase that firearm I would have been made eye contact with. Probably even gotten a handshake. Funny, my father was looking to purchase a new firearm soon. Guess where we will not be going. Shame!! read more

What a joke! They can't even get their prices correct. I was looking at the firearms, when I noticed a great price for a firearm. Usually these guns go for $1,750-$1,990. This one was marked in the $1,400 range. So, I began the process of getting it. I asked a few questions, and what a surprise, one of the workers marked it incorrectly. It was price marked not only on the handwritten tag, but the computer generated tag corresponded with the price. So, they begin to throw a loud fit about it , and won't honor the price. The price they come back with is much higher than you would be charged in an actual firearms store !!! I could only imagine how they would screw up the paperwork. While I was there yesterday, I observed a clerk "helping" a gentleman through the firearms purchase process. She even mentioned how the paperwork is "rough", and they " had their license taken away a while back for improper paperwork". From what I've witnessed today ..... Not a surprise Do yourself a favor, drive into Fort Worth, or down the road to an actual firearms store , that knows what to do. I'm sorely disappointed, and will NEVER purchase anything from Gibson's ever again. read more

This store reminds me of the old five & dime stores such as Motts or Woolworth, my parents use to go to. This store has many interesting products ranging from gun sales to lawn & garden products. I personally like looking at the array of model airplanes in stock since I am into building models. The toy selection is definitely set up and stocked like the old school stores use to have with toy soldiers, dinosaurs, farm animals and snakes kids can try out. Of course since is store is in the country they have toy bull riding cowboy toys and Breyer horse series of toys. I also love the good selection of western wear they have. I especially like the array of Wrangler jeans they have here but some styles are a little pricier than Cavenders Western Stores. Plenty of good lawn and garden needs here. Good selecting of lawn equipment, fertilizer, mulch, and sod at a discount price. Finally, I love the huge array of weapons they. They have a good array of shotguns and assault rifles which can be put into layaway. I love the layaway which other stores do not have. I have live here for 49 years. My family has shopped at Gibsons since I was a kid, i can remember going as a kid to the toy isle and now I get to take my kid to the toy isle. The owners are awesome people that pride themselves on taking care of the customers. They have also been very good at giving back to the community and individuals. The quality and selection of products is remarkable, things that you cannot find anywhere else you can find at Gibsons. The employees are always willing to help and very polite. My son shoots competitive sports and without the help of Gibsons my son would not have had the ability to own and shoot the shotgun he uses. They help with kids in many different organizations such as 4H. The people in the sporting good area are very knowledgeable and if they do not have it they will do their best to order it. The family at Gibsons are very good Christian people that show their love in so many ways. My business will stay at Gibsons. read more
