I'm a graduating student and as part of our portfolio requirements we need to have a book made to…read moreshowcase our best work over the course of our studies. This place was recommended to us by our Dept. Head so we came to check it out. When we got there, the owner took us into the back workshop to tell us exactly what they did and how the final products would look according to each style of binding they did. They can bind pretty much any style you want (im no expert on binding but they sure had a lot of styles). She then showed us all the fabric types that they had in stock that could be used as the fabric on the cover of your book. She said it usually takes about 3 days of so to bind our portfolio's (since others from previous classes had come here before too). They also offer an embossing service, that is extra for the piece to be made that embosses it (prices according to size but i think its usually around $75), but it looks very very nice when done. I decided this was what i wanted and after I had printed out all my pages I cam back here to get it bound. When I got in, she remembered me from when I first came in and took me into the back workshop again to go over what we had talked about, and to pick out a fabric. I chose a black, very clean almost pleather type material. They have real leather fabric too, but the price jumps up almost $150 for the real stuff. It was a Tuesday that I dropped it off and she told me to come back on Friday. I got there today to pick it up and i must say im very happy with the work that they have done. My portfolio book is bound great and looks very professional now. I originally wanted to have it embossed, but as a student, you cant always afford everything that you want, so perhaps at a later date i can take it back it to get upgraded.. Im very happy with them for their quality and speed and would recommend it to anyone.

My mother recently passed away and I came into possession of her Roman Missal and a New Testament…read more They were in a sorry state, with the covers falling off but I wanted to save them because my mom had cherished these books as a young woman back in the 1950's. The New Testament was an inexpensive one with cardboard covers. My mother had written notes in it though, so it felt very special. I arranged with David Weinstein to replace the cover with a synthetic material but he found a small piece of beautiful leather and used that at no extra charge. The Missal was re-covered with goat skin. Both volumes were embossed in gold script on the covers. They look and feel amazing - like new books with a whole new life. It was so nice to hang out for a bit with David in his peaceful shop. I would definitely come back to see him for any other book binding needs. He's a real artist.

Once you get close, there is a neighboring beauty salon. Laser Sharp has their own office space next door. (It is the white door with laser cut design) The SERVICE IS AMAZING! Teresa was responsive to my yelp request for an engraving job quote, was able to work on acrylic, and gave a reasonable price and FAST same day turn around. She made time for my small, but meaningful engraving job for my team at work, helped me pick out fonts that enhanced the job, and I can't wait to give there engraved performance awards to my staff! The shop is not far from downtown LA (DTLA) where I work (15-20 min drive) so that I could drop off the job at lunch. There was plenty of street parking and the shop is right in a small building next to a beauty shop and close to the 76 station on the corner. What's great about this place is also the atmosphere... you walk into the shop and see displays of creative, artistic wood cutting, paper cutting, laser cutting jobs ranging from complex 3-D models to beautifully adorned signs. Immediately you get the sense they can do anything and the only limit is your imagination! The shop is clean, smells inviting, and is like stepping into a design dream world just off this busy street. The photos of Teresa's other passion - landscape design - adorn the walls. Gorgeous. Plus, she was pleasant, helpful and finished my job early! At the end of the day, she and her husband and co-owner Al (the architect) were there waiting for me. They had my job beautifully displayed for my inspection, and I fell in love. Teresa and Al are the type of business owners you want to work with over and over. Their warmth and genuine pride in their work exudes from their heart. You feel like someone in your family just went the extra step to make sure you are pleased with your requested work, job or project and on time! I know I'm not alone. They were on their way to see a customer's building at CSULA because of the sense of connection created from the model they designed for the customer in the process. I can't say enough good things about this company. I called or wrote back and forth with at least 5 other businesses in the area before choosing them just based on their customer service in our interactions. I'm so happy I did. One of the strangest experiences I've ever had…read more Walked in to get a quote for some business cards and check their pricing structure. Was lectured for a few minutes on how business cards are "not a magic bullet" and how "if you need to ask (the price), it's probably out of your range." I asked about engraved business cards. Quoted ~$2.5k for a handful of paper cards. Not a single engraved card sample in sight and their limited (2) samples were entirely unimpressive. Was so hot and stuffy inside, felt like I was suffering oxygen deprivation. From the owner himself, if you need business cards, "go to one of those online places." I recommend the sellers on Etsy.
