Crème brûlée

Birthday celebration. We had a party of 5 and our table was very comfortable. Everything was very clean. They had a great outdoor seating area as well but it was too hot for that. Hostess and server were both very friendly. Server was knowledgeable about the specials and regular menu. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Two got a featured Lobster pasta. I got the pork chop. Our son got the salmon. Everything was cooked perfectly. We'd definitely return!

This was our first visit and everything we ordered was delicious. The service was attentive throughout our dining experience. The restaurant is clean and everyone is both pleasant and professional. We tried appetizers, main entrees and desserts. Parking is free but on a busy road that is tricky to maneuver. We will return soon to try more tasty items.

Spaghetti and meatballs, bruschetta, and Cajun Alfredo

Some of the best Italian food we've probably have ever had!! So delicious and with great service. Very nice inside, a good blend of casual enough and fancy. We had the bruschetta, Cajun pasta, and spaghetti with meatball. Would highly recommend all!

Mushroom Risotto

One could throw many educated and less so educated guesses at why Giardino is so popular. Maybe it's the copious amounts of hearty cheese filled American Italian classics that dominate the menu. It could be the reasonable prices. Others might come for the view. There is a sense of coziness and presence of home in this small restaurant. People, such as the waitress Nicole, are incredibly kind and go out of the way to make people happy. The lasagna here is a true highlight, with a tangy bolognese that is the star of the show. One of the best out there. The mushroom risotto is a large portion, but seems to have artificial truffle oil taste to it or something similar to it, which slightly offset the dish profile. The tiramisu is remarkable. The wine list is great with many interesting and inexpensive Italian bottles. Bottles are generally priced 2.5 to 3x retail, which is a bit above the common 2x multiplier found in restaurants of this caliber, but also not too unreasonable. Interior design is quaint, homey and tasteful. There is a view, which is likely better during the day than night. Windows are not small, but also not floor to ceiling and a bit high on the wall, so keep in mind that it may not be easy to see the actual view from the table. Giardino is a clear favorite of locals for many reasons and all of the reasons are very well deserved. Arrive hungry and enjoy the ride.

Dessert special - chocolate cannoli. SO GOOD!
Ghyrn W.

Our new favorite place! We moved to Chattanooga this past year and my wife & I have been trying various Chattanooga restaurants. The food here was SO DELICIOUS! We loved everything. Our server was so helpful, attentive and cheery! We don't usually choose patio dining in the summer heat, but it was busy and I didn't call in a reservation until same-day. It was still pleasant with the nice view. A cat strolled through but didn't bother anyone. My wife loved the roasted carrots so much that she bought some at the grocery store for me to grill at home. Sadly mine did not measure up! The thing we're still talking about is the dessert special - chocolate cannolis. Filled with chocolate cream. SO DELICIOUS! Sadly they're not always on the menu.

This was interesting...4.5 star reviews and we gave it a try based on that. This is a big space, with seating for over 120. The patio has nice view of the mountains but curtains are down... The booths are comfy and we had a nice seat by the patio window. In early at 6:00pm and glad we were early. Make a reservation as there was a line out the door at 7:30 The service was terrific throughout. Grady our primary server. Corkage is $15 The bread and flavored EVOO was a great start and we had high hopes based on the menu. My Casa Salad looked beautiful, but was drowned in poorly executed Caesar dressing. We ordered the Chicken Parmigiana - overly herbal breading overpowered the flavors (rosemary?). Cheese was barely noticeable and...well...unevenly cooked...see the pic. As another reviewer noted the Rigatoni a la Gorgonzola was basically rigatoni in vodka sauce. No sign of the cheese. Certainly not what I expected. Pasta was cooked well but the whole dish was just ok. I can see the appeal of nice sized portions in a family friendly environment but the kitchen needs improvement.

creme brulee

Great food options and service was amazing. We decided to go for my birthday dinner and we loved it! Our server was Zoe. I had no idea what to order from the menu and then she told me the special and knew that's what I wanted. She even gave us a complimentary dessert for my birthday! Highly recommend the bruschetta and crème brûlée. Will definitely be back!

the lobster bisque soup of the day
Timothy S.

This was our second trip to this little Italian restaurant, again for my birthday....seemingly becoming a tradition. Sadly though, the experience wasn't quite as good this time at this little family restaurant. Service overall was good, not great, but certainly acceptable. Several of us tried the lobster bisque, which was being offered that evening. First of all, it's a pet peeve of mine when soup is served lukewarm, while the children liked that, I expect soup to be steaming hot. The taste was actually nice, though there was one family member that would have preferred a stronger sherry taste, but me, I was fine with where it was. Here's the rub though, none of us could find any lobster in our bisques, a bit of a problem. I tried the rigatoni in gorgonzola sauce. Fine cook on the pasta, though it looked like a vodka sauce, and while I enjoyed the sausage and peppers in the sauce, there was not a notion of gorgonzola to be found in tasting the sauce, and again, the food was just lukewarm. While not as big an issue for me compared to soup, the food needs to be hotter. The sauce tasted okay, but it certainly did not have the flavor profile I expected. My wife had the fish of the day, which was actually quite good, maybe that would have better a better selection for me, but when I go to an Italian restaurant, I will nearly always have pasta.

I went with penne, with a spinach tomato cream sauce and added grilled vegetables, which was zucchini and chicken. My husband got the pepper linguini with the gorgonzola cream and sausage. Both were fabulous. We arrived around 11:45 and were seated right away. By the time we left around 1:00, the wait was 40 minutes to an hour. Apparently, we timed that just right! Parking is a little tricky. We parked on the street, and I'm not sure what other options there are, so give yourself some time to find a spot. They have upstairs, downstairs, and outdoor seating. The complimentary bread is served with olive oil and grated Parmesan cheese and it was fabulous. Five stars for the food and five stars for the service. My only complaint was the bathroom situation. There were only two bathrooms for the whole restaurant, with five people waiting, and it took about 15 minutes before we could use one. We managed to beat the lunch line, but apparently not the bathroom line! Definitely worth visiting for the fresh pasta. Come early!

The waitress kept saying they were out and she was waiting for more. My one niece asked for plastic ware and received hers so now 2 with and I still did not have any. We ordered our meals and a shared appetizer of calamari. The calamari came and I still did not have a napkin or silverware. I asked the busboy for at least a napkin and he said he wasn't sure how to get one. He did come back either paper towels from their handwashing station. *strange!! But at least I could wipe my hands. Our server finally brought two more napkin/silverware sets right before our food was delivered. Plus she had the audacity to comment she was just as upset as we were about it. 1. We weren't upset but confused about how to eat. 2. She barely came to the table to notice we needed napkins or anything else! Before I get to the food... I have to comment on how nasty underneath the table was. The customer before us dropped pasta and stepped all in it, and I kept slipping my foot in their dropped pasta. It was so annoying. I actually mentioned something to the manager on my way out so the next customer would not have to sit with pasta underneath their feet. It did not help also that the bus boy kept dropping dishes as it was either coming up or down the stairs. Honestly, the ambience of the restaurant was thrown off with either the pastel on the floor or the dropping of the dishes by the busboy. When lunch finally arrived all three of us commented that it normally taste better when we do it as a to go order. Perhaps I like my low country pasta better because I normally let it sit and allow the flavors to meld together. Plus, my niece comment into the portion size seems smaller in the restaurant. I thought the same about the calamari. Overall, I still love Tony's, but definitely would not eat it again.

Alleia turned out to be one of those meals we'll be talking about for a very long time. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, with such a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our server, Dakota, was exceptional ~ kind, tactful, and genuinely welcoming. After being on the road for about 9 hours, we definitely weren't dressed for a beautiful dinner out, but Dakota immediately made us feel completely comfortable and assured us that we were more than welcome to dine there. That kindness set the tone for the entire evening. Our cocktails, the Spaghetti and Pretty in Pink, were both 10/10! But the food was truly outstanding. The halibut with creamed corn, arugula, and tomato relish was absolutely phenomenal, and the trout with zucchini and squash was prepared to perfection. Every herb, flavor, and ingredient felt thoughtfully chosen and beautifully balanced!! For dessert, we had the tiramisu, uniquely served in a clear little cup where you could see every gorgeous layer of mascarpone, along with the flourless chocolate cake. Both were fantastic and the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal. We've been talking about this dinner since last night and are genuinely sad that we live so far away! Everything ~ from the atmosphere and cocktails to the food, desserts, and especially Dakota's wonderful service ~ was outstanding. He made our evening feel extra special! 5 stars without hesitation. We sincerely hope our travels bring us back to Chattanooga soon because Alleia will absolutely be on our list to visit again!

I give the 2 stars just for that staff member: he immediately got our bottle of wine, went to the kitchen to check on our dinner (it was a kids bowl of butter noodles, a bowl of gnocchi and a bowl of ziti with meat sauce.....) and then provided us with 2 free cocktail coupons for "service recovery". He saved us from having a totally disappointing experience overall. The meat sauce was bland, my husband did like the gnocchi, and my son's butter noodles had no taste at all. When my husband asked the first young waiter for Parmesan cheese after he asked if he could get us anything else, his response was "it's already on there". :-/ I feel like staffing was an issue, for sure, but when you are literally the only customers and there are 2 waiters plus kitchen staff I just don't understand the nonexistent service we received. It takes a lot for me to write a negative review. Perhaps on a bustling Saturday night it's a much better experience?

The wait staff was young and more interested in horsing around with each other than taking care of diners. Paid $12 for 4 ounces of a very sour (!) Prosecco with a squirt of blackberry syrup at the bottom, but no straw to get to it. The fried raviolis were just cheese-filled and tasted of old oil. The salad contest consisted of whole leaves of iceberg lettuce, four slices of beets and six garbanzos. (This is for two people.) the salad dressing tasted of nothing but oil. The garlic rolls, for which I had raved to my wife, came out hard cold and stale. I ate a couple anyway thinking that the next batch would be fresh, but was told when I asked for more that they were "out." Since this was formerly a highlight of the Provino's experience this hit hard. My wife's entrée tasted burnt as as the only flavor and she refused to eat it. My eggplant Parmesan was cold inside and gelatinous, although the plate was warm. I suppose this Restaurant has suffered the same fate as Portofinos and the Acropolis; started by a family who is no longer involved and is now run by people who don't particularly care. Anyway there are other options for Italian in this town; heck, I would've done better going to Olive Garden. Won't be back - not ever.
