I love this store, here are the best reasons: They have EVERYTHING Most items are in stock, regularly. Except for the organic steel cut oatmeal. It's very clean! The pharmacist is excellent! The bakery...ok let me tell you about the bakery...I don't usually feel comfortably explaining what I want for a cake or cupcakes so I just order something online or buy whatever is there. I met with someone the other day (Monday and again on Tuesday) that really gets it. She is an incredible baker and dare I say "artist"?! I had a big company event and wanted something unique that included a tropical theme and the company logo. She spent so much time with me and even let me come back midway to check in on things. When I picked it up, WOW! It was better than I expected. Her tropical flowers are amazing and the pull apart cupcakes were perfect. Everyone loved them. Such a successful event and the cupcakes were a hit. Thank you soooo much! I'm sorry that I can't remember her name but I do want to compliment the entire bakery on their kindness and helpfulness. Beautiful bakery and kind employees. I'll be back! Oh did I mention the price? $20.99 for each pull apart which is fantastic. I am grateful. read more

This location drives me nuts. Employees while stocking or filling orders are oblivious to the fact that that they are blocking traffic in the ridiculously skinny aisles due to all the case stacks narrowing the aisles as well. The cherry on top today was the snide remark from the cashier who announced they were only taking cash today. She looked at me in disgust and said didn't you read the sign? Upon looking for said "sign" it was a piece of copy paper taped to the side of the double doors In a font size no passerby would notice. Given the situation one would think something I bold print directly on the door, or perhaps a person greeting the customers to inform them might have been a better idea. Extremely poor management and a waste of my time. Awful treatment by the cashier. Left my groceries and walked out. read more

Bottom Line: Assuming you survive the parking lot a huge grocery store with a wide selection awaits you. Giant has been a Severna Park staple for decades and I have been shopping there since I was a little kid. Many years ago they did a major renovation on the Giant and it is now a very big store. This is nice because there is tons of selection but there are some drawbacks too. For those shoppers who want to get in and out quickly, or aren't up for walking a huge store, the large layout of this store is unfavorable. This store gets very busy which is good on one hand because that means the inventory on the shelves turns over quickly and you're less likely to get expired goods. But, because this store is so busy, the parking lot is often very chaotic. A Starbucks location inside the store probably adds to the business. Giant is no stranger to technology. They implemented the first, or one of the first, bar coding systems in the grocery industry. And now they have a "Scan It!" app which allows customers to scan their food with their mobile phone as it is selected off the shelf. And then at checkout you can your phone again to pay for your items. I've never tried it but it seems like an interesting idea so I might give it a whirl one of these days. I appreciate that this store always seems to be clean and they have a lot, eight I think, self-checkout lines. read more

I don't know what happened to our good store. I have shopped at this store forever but It has changed and now the shelves are empty and they is no service. Yesterday they had 1 checkout person and no one else to help. Lately that is how its been. No checkout persons. What is happening. I have loved shopping at giant for years. So when I moved to Kent Island, I was really disappointed that the only Giant locations are in Easton, Severna Park, and Annapolis. Severna Park is the closest to me but Ritchie Highway is a pain in the ass to drive on. But I had some other errands to run and managed to make my way up to Goant to get some groceries. I love this Giant location. Compared to the three locations I mentioned were relatively close to me, it's so clean and it's very lovely and the inventory is the most diverse compared to the other locations in the area. There's always a lot of options when it comes to juice and cheese. But moreso, I enjoy the fruit and vegetable options they have from organic to no. But in true supermarket fashion, it's all about how long it will take you to get in and out during the checkout. Those that mount the register see extraordinarily attentive and quick, which allows me to not fret about being in a long line given how efficiently and experienced those on the cash register are. read more

The self checkout machines at this store are frustratingly outdated. They don't scan well and constantly throw errors about weight being incorrect. Also, the lady working at self checkout is very rude and should not be in a customer service role. Giant is a very outdated store in general and I recommend going elsewhere. read more

Not a single employee at the regular checkout. So I went to the self checkout area. There was only 1 other customer there. I began to check out with approximately 30 items. I was then stopped by an employee who told me it is 20 items or less. I said I know but there is no one working at a register. She pointed to a self checkout that apparently is for more than 20 items and told me I had to relocate there. Considering there were no customers, no lines, no one was waiting behind me, and there was no one working at a register, her behavior was COMPLETELY ridiculous. I could totally understand if it was busy or there was a line but when I am 1 of 2 customers, I think it's OKAY to let me check out at the regular self checkout. Or perhaps they should have someone working at a register. Also the produce there is always old. Looking forward to seeing what the new supermarket opening in Park Plaza has in store. Hopefully some fresh produce and nice employees who aren't looking for a power trip. Also the employees working at the Harris Teeter checkout up the road never give me a hard time and are always EXTREMELY kind. I highly recommend going there for a great experience. I spend around 400-600 on groceries a week so I'd rather take my business elsewhere. Happy New Year read more

Too often the negative is brought to light here's something different. I dont ever post reviews but feel that credit was needed to be given. I stopped in for a few things and couldn't for the life of me find my steakumms. I noticed a gentleman coming out of the back with a determined stride as he was on a mission. I asked "do you know where the sandwich steaks are?" Expecting an answer of a isle number. This young man I believe his name was frank stopped dead in his tracks and walked me to the item. I would have been happy with that but please read on. As I'm making my way out of the store I stop at customer service and there he was again. I just needed cigarettes I know bad habbit but still. I said I just need cigarettes ill ring this other stuff up at self checkout. The young man took the time to stop and ring out all my stuff. I'm certain he was doing 20 other things and I was so impressed that some folks take customer service seriously. Great Job frank I hope that's his name. Allot of people could learn allot from frank and I hope this reaches the appropriate supervisor because I beleive he deserves many accolades.​ read more

I went to Giant this summer to purchase some helium balloons for my daughter's birthday. It was a busy Saturday morning, and Dwight, an associate who worked in produce, helped us to efficiently get 10 balloons even though he had other responsibilities to attend to. He was friendly and helped my son to hold the balloons so that they would stay down and under control. I wanted to commend the associate who helped us and recommend Giant as a place to receive friendly customer service. read more

Used their deli for a graduation party. All the platters were prepared fresh. They were on a tall cart ready to go when we arrived. One of the deli staff, Hope, even rolled the cart to the front, helped us check out, then rolled the tall deli cart to the car and helped us load up. Great assistance and pleasant attitude. I pass this particular Giant on my way to and from work, so usually I'll stop by on my way home from work. The store is pretty clean and I can usually find what I need here. I love their produce section and the fruit and veggies that are already cut and ready to eat or cook with. I think the prices here are a little more expensive. ShopRite is usually my go-to grocery store aside from Wal-Mart but I'll go to Giant when they have something good on sale or I need to quickly pick up something. Giant also has a great selection of "healthy" and organic foods which is another plus for me. Coming from NJ, I'm used to Stop & Shop but Giant is pretty much the same thing. I loved the muffins and bagels at Stop & Shop but haven't had the chance to try them at Giant to see if they're the same. read more

Giant. Not sure I've ever spent any time in a Giant before. This place was Giant- so many rows and such a selection. I could have spent hours in here like I did with my Dad when I was younger. We would go grocery shopping late at night and those were memorable fun times. So many different brands of the same item. This Giant is always well stocked, associates are very helpful however the prices are def in the high side. Since this store doesn't make the prices, I will just rate the store and its employees. One thing with Yelp that annoys the heck out of me is when someone gives an establishment or business 1star because of 1 mistake or a person had one bad experience out of many visits. Be freaking realistic, a kid puts a box of produce on the bathroom floor one time but the kid washes his hands and then places the produce in the shelves. Couple things about that specific post, you mention that you cone here all the time, the produce was in a box, kid washed his hands. Big freaking deal. You think that produce came out of your grandmas backyard. Its shipped overseas and the people picking and packaging may have had crap on their hands. Wash your produce dude. One star, seriously? And the manager addressed the issue. Its not a restaurant. Go to Safeway then. .. Anyway, pharmacy Mgr is very helpful and they have will allow partial filling of ALL meds, unlike their competition. Plus its rare the pharmacy is not stocked with anything someone may need. Come on people, think about the big picture. Where's your positive comments when you were happy. read more

My family and I have been patrons of this location for over 20 years. It was convenient as it is located close to our home. Over the last year we have noticed a general decline as many of the items that we routinely shop for are not in stock. Last month we tried the curbside pickup, which took an hour of waiting in the designated spot, even though we received confirmation that our order was filled prior to our arrival. Today, I reluctantly tried the curbside pick up again, but the weather is bad and this should be the best alternative for social distancing. I pulled into the parking space and called the number listed on the sign over and over, which nobody picked up, or it was busy. Finally, fed up with waiting (during the scheduled time) I went into to speak with somebody at customer service. The young lady in customer service informed me that the phones were down. I politely told her that they should post a sign, so people would know. To which she replied, "Sir, it would get wet given the weather." No kidding! I had been waiting out in it for the last 30 minutes waiting for you to deliver my groceries. Solve the problem! Have somebody monitor those spaces so if somebody pulls in, they can meet them and explain the situation, get their name and get them their order. Not to mention, you are 200 feet away from an Office Depot. Go down and get some plastic sheet protectors to insert a sign into to call another number, that is working, or to come inside. Doing nothing is not the answer. If this happened to me, I'm sure I'm not the only one. Not to mention, while I was waiting I noticed more of those curbside pickup spaces being used by employees being picked up, rather than patrons. read more

I have been shopping here for awhile since we moved down here to Maryland. Up until tonight it has been your average grocery store for me. Clean. Fair prices. And an alright selection of prepared foods. I normally choose giant because of the gas prices. But tonight was the night that gave me the reason to give a review. The manager on duty tonight, around 10pm, was excellent. She went above and beyond to help me with my issue. I could she was stressed from what seemed to be a lot of things happening at once but she was incredible at prioritizing each issue and giving each customer the help they needed while still going out of her way. I really do appreciate the great customer service I received tonight. So thank you to management. I will continue shopping here and spread the word for others to come also. And a hint for what seems like most maryland shoppers. You can get a lot more with honey than vinegar. read more

About 7pm (6\13) last night while shopping I needed to use the restroom. When I walked in, there was someone in the stall. A box was on the floor. A Giant produce associate came out, washed his hands and left the bathroom. I finished, left and followed him. He took box that was on the floor of the bathroom stall and opened it. Placing the items on the shelf. I immediately notified the highest level of management in the store. His name was John. I will be following up with the store manager on the next few days. I am concerned that this situation might not be handled. He did say that he was going to speak to the associate and the department manager. Needless to say I was shocked and upset. This is unexcusable. We are loyal customers who drive past the Safeway in Arnold for the selection and pricing if the store. I'm just not sure how someone could think that placing a box of produce on the bathroom floor in a stall and then stocking the shelves is ok. read more

I bought a vegan cream cheese. (Kite hill) By the way the cream cheese is amazing for anyone who wants it! Back to the point, the cream cheeses expiration date was January 15 2020 which at the time it was about 3 weeks before. When we looked though the clear plastic piece that you peel to open, there was mold in the cream cheese. The cream cheese was unopened, not past any date, cream cheese went straight from my car to the fridge, (it was only in the car about 10 minutes.) This shows that the item was not taken care of in the back of the store. read more

This is our staple grocery store. It's a convenient location with a great selection. They have a good selection or organic produce, products, and meats. They have a great deli, florist, and bakery. We have ordered birthday cakes from here and have always been happy! The staff is always friendly and helpful. This location is always busy! It doesn't matter what day and time you go. read more

This place is going downhill and I'm surprised that's happening in "Better than anywhere else" Severna Park. Of course that's at least what the people that live there think. I went in this "store" on Thursday night 28 Feb and it looked like the place was either going out of business with the sparse amount of items on the shelves, or the aisles had just been rioted. The produce (and I'm finding this with several Giant's now) is usually spoiled and moldy. When I brought this to someone's attention in the section, I was stared at like I had three heads. Lots of expired products on the shelves, especially the dairy section. When you go to checkout look for about one or two lines open and that's if you're lucky. "HELLO GIANT: Wegmans are now open in Maryland and they're eating your lunch!!" Step up your game!!! All in all Giant is continuing it's downward spiral and The Severna Park store is finally catching up to the other terribly run stores of Giant. About the only positive, is the checkout lady Laura was very friendly. Also a quick note, if you go on Sunday or anytime during the weekend the botoxed snooty soccer mommies crowd the aisles, where you can't move. The parking lot is not easy to get in/out of there in a hurry either. read more

Of all the local Giants, this is my least favorite. I still can't get the layout straight in my head, so I'm always traipsing back and forth to look for things. It's always packed, and I've found the fellow shoppers to be quite rude (but hey, that could just be because it's Severna Park). I can't judge the store for it's CUSTOMERS, so the two stars are for the layout and organization of the store. Giant as a company is great.. I love shopping at Giant because I can usually find organic varieties of whatever I'm looking for, and they're always stocked really well as a whole. However, I try to go to one of the two Glen Burnie Giants before I'll hit this one. read more

Been shopping here for over a decade. I used to love this store. A few issues I have now. 1. The aisles used to be spacious but now they are filled with displays. You constantly have to maneuver around them and the other shoppers doing the same. 2. The self checkouts used to allow you to scan large orders. Now they have reconfigured the layout to cram as many in as possible and took away all but 2 regular checkouts and 1 express. You'll have an occaisional employee come open another lane but they always grab the people at the end of the line. 3. I have had so many problems with the produce. Onions go bad in days, the garlic is bad when peeled. I no longer buy my produce here. read more

This is the busiest store around! The parking sucks at times but it still is one of the better stores. I read a lot of these post. Maybe the people don't realize how hard it is to work with a low number of staff? Or maybe the people don't realize that employees call out right and left. This is not a Federal Job. Lots of people don't even come to work. Then you have the good employees who show up everyday and get yelled at by all the customers because people are not moving fast enough. Severna Park should be voted the snobbiest living area! Another thing someone mentioned was Giant employees standing around, it's because they don't have time to catch up on what maybe going on around the store! Before you judge how about you ask yourself....Maybe that man/women is doing the best they can. You don't know the circumstances! MAYBE JUST MAYBE...U HAVE TO WORK ON PATIENTS. If you see something way out of the ordinary then a manger should be told. What about telling the man/women behind the counter they are doing an awesome job? that wouldn't hurt either! Just try to walk in their shoes dealing with stuck up snobs and people who complain over the dumbest things. when we have real situations going on in the world! wake up and smell the coffee! with this being said....I will give Giant a five because it's better than the other food stores around. read more

Probably still the best grocery store in the area followed closely by the new Safeway at Arnold station. I actually shop more at Safeway due to convenience but Giant has the overall better prices and selection. The down sides are the meat and bakery are not as great as they used to be. Still better then most but it has lost a little. Any seafood I buy is from Giant especially shrimp. read more

I bypass 3 other grocery stores to go to this Giant. I go shop on Friday evenings and never wait in a line. The cashiers are super friendly and helpful! I even had one Lady, Jeanne, reach into her own personal coupon stash in her purse to help me out! I've been going to Giant Pharmacy for more than 20 years and I am DONE! Every single time the wait is forever - even when I fax over scripts before I get there. To add insult to injury, Giant Pharmacy seems to always hire the slowest moving and slowest thinking staff - they're (usually) pleasant, but glacier-like. I was there today waiting for 45 minutes with 9 people in line and ONE woman helping customers. After searching and searching and searching for a script for the customer ahead of me, she finally came back and realized that she had the name wrong. Pull my hair out now! read more

I am so angry at Giant in Severna Park that I can't see straight! I called on Tuesday to inquire about a fresh Turkey for my family's Thanksgiving dinner which is taking place tomorrow. I was promised a fresh.. NOT FROZEN.. bird by noon today. I called again in Thursday, as suggested to MAKE SURE the order was coming. I called this morning, as suggested to MAKE SURE the order arrived. I was told OH YES.. they are on the pallet. Pick it up by after Noon! Except I went to pick it up and there were NO UNFROZEN TURKEYS. Was your meat department employee on drugs this morning when I spoke to him??? I have 16 people coming to dinner tomorrow at 2 p.m. and will NOT have my turkey to serve. Instead I need thaw three small birds and figure out how to cook all three. I rarely go to Giant but we were in need of groceries so I decided to go somewhere close to my home. I usually do my shopping at wegmans on the weekend. My husband and I decided to go together with our two kids. Half way through our shopping my son broke out in a horrible rash on his face after getting out of their cart/car. Rushing to get to check out to get my son home we noticed only one cashier working. The line was wrapping around and I just couldn't wait so we decide to use self checkout. Thinking it would be faster. Self checkout took twice as long my items had to be rescanned every 10 seconds my husband is bagging I'm scanning as we are trying to watch our kids. What really ticked me off was that there were 3 employees standing in front of costumer service watching us. Not once did one offer to help bag or help ring. Or have one open another lane so we weren't in this situation in the first place. Extremely rude and not helpful. Why have three people stand there and not help. If your store is relying on just self checkouts that's poor customer service in the first place and the store is cheap. Taking much needed hours away from potential employees is horrible. And the fact that giant is even paying three employees to stand there and not help is even worse. A business that doesn't believe in ethics and pinching pennies is no business I want to shop at.
