This giant is located in thorndale Plaza on Lincoln Highway. This plaza has several like kohls, chinese take out, pizza shops, etc. There is plenty of parking and easy to get in and get out of the area. The shop has all that you would expect in a grocery store, have got vegetables section that I shop a lot, then usual groceries , canned foods etc, they do have take out section of cooked food not great variety but okay. They do have a sea food section and meat section, too. They have a fruits section and have a great collection of fruits here. Recently shopped for veggies and beverages and always stocked up nice and easy. The bakery section is neat and contains a nice collection. The checkout was easy to get out. Worst giant ever! Long lines, slow service, and dirty. Ever since moving to Thorndale I've had to struggle with shopping at the worst grocery store ever, Thorndale Giant or driving 15 minutes to Wegmans. This last trip to Giant I placed a deli order in the kiosk and had to wait 31 minutes for my order to be complete. What's the point of the kiosk if it's going to take longer than standing there and waiting? Hopefully they build a new grocery store where K Mart was and I never have to step foot in Thorndale Giant again. read more

This Giant's managers don't respect customers' time as evident by the understaffed, inefficient deli counter. It's not unheard of to wait 20 minutes to be waited on. During my last visit, mid-day, mid-week, I waited 30 minutes for my turn to order. Most of the employees are courteous and helpful but some deli workers carry on lengthy personal conversations while a long line of people are waiting to order. I saw one employee checking her phone, while wearing the same gloves she used to handle sliced meat. I don't mind if she has to check her phone but she should have changed her gloves afterward. The shelves on the side of the produce section are often restocked, blocking 1/2 the aisle. This takes place during the busiest times of the busiest days, blocking shoppers except for one lane, making people take turns going through the narrowed aisle. On a Sunday, this lane should absolutely allow for two-way traffic. The stockers don't even seem to care to move their carts over and when you point out they're blocking the entire aisle, they slowly move out of the way but really act like it's a bother when in fact, they're the ones in the way. Along the same line, get rid of the those giant display bins that run down the center of that first aisle next to produce. I can't imagine who thought it was a good idea to place those PLUS block 1/2 the aisle with the big stocking trolleys. read more

Their food is always fresh, meats, fruit, and vegetables. Customer service is always on point, and the cashiers are personable. My ONLY complaint is that there are not a sufficient number of cashiers manning registers. There are far too many self check-out stations. We need the Giant to hire cashiers. I DO NOT GET PAID BY GIANT... Therefore, I have no intention of doing a job they hire people to do. read more

Self checkout customer service is horrible. Woman stands there talking to friend, with her back to the guest not to mention her post, while lights are blinking for 2+ minutes, and continues to chat with their friend while 2 customers waited for help with self checkout. The store itself is clean. That's really the only nice thing I can say about this grocery store. My husband and I only shop here because it's right around the corner for us. The staff is extremely rude! When you walk past them, not even a small smile. Every time...seriously, every time we check out the cashier is having either a personal conversation with another co worker or look absolutely miserable! No manors, rude, and don't bother to help with anything. I used to work at a grocery store for 5 years. I understand it's not the best job in the world but you can at least put a damn smile on you face. And please for the love of god...bag the damn groceries! read more

I wasn't t so sure about this store when I first moved here but as I have continued shopping there for both major hauls and quick trips, I have fouund it very adequate in every department. The acid test for me, for any grocery store is: do they sell southern food? That is: grits, turnip greens, self-rising cornmeal, buttermilk and okra? And yes they do! The deli sells Boars Head deli meat that is top notch and you can pick up your deli orders later if you order on the kiosk. I got the hang of the rewards program which is a little tricky but worth it. The beer and wine selection is pretty good and the service is quick. There have been a few occasions that I've asked the staff where something was and they have been very helpful. My only wish is that I could get cash back there on my Discover card. read more

My parents are elderly, and they tried to call for help about their account for pickup/delivery. The person they got wasn't helpful, but I don't mind...when you work for minimum wage the desire to help someone just goes out the window. The problem is, if I were the programmer that wrote that code, I'd be fired! There's no excuse, that code was horrible, who wrote it? And then, we call customer support for help? Recently I've had some run ins with some very rude employees. I replaced the previous floor crew to restore the floors and the first thing I noticed when I walked into the back was the lack of storage and room for any kind of cleaning supplies. I didn't expect to find them stored sandwiched between the seafood and the meat section in the back where they cut meat for customers. Literally right next to floor cleaners and bathroom cleaners. I thought this probably wasn't inspection pass worthy but I went ahead and continued to do my job until I also noticed that anytime I applied a scrubber or a mob to the produce section, some of the produce was stored too low and was actually being covers in floor gunk unbeknownst to anyone. The scrubber was so old that it could clean the floor properly and was flicking floor gunk in the direction of the I'll properly stored produce on the lower levels. Let's just say I will never eat giant produce or meat again, the store manager obviously doesn't give a fuck. read more

My incident happened around 5 pm, it is now 9 and I am still furious. I did see the Asst Mgr at the time but this event was so egregious I must post here. I was in line of 8 people for customer service issues, stamps. Next to this line was checkout. A handicapped woman in a motor cart was checking out. She struggled to reach the basket and place things on the belt. The cashier, Jarrett, offered no help. He dutifully bagged as he checked her out. When she was done paying he began to check out the next person, she had to ask him to help load her cart for her - he didn't offer and was visibly put out when asked. She the asked for parking lot help, obviously in need. He deferred to Blaine who had just signed out and was flirting with the cashier in the next isle, he refused, obviously too busy. Next he asked Chad who also refused, his audible reply "outside ?!". Then a few other male employees who also refused as this woman sat begging for help. NO ONE would help her, contrary to the self serving comment on their shirts saying, "how may I help you?" I stepped up, chided everyone I saw who had refused, and I helped the woman get to her car. On the way out of the door there was a traffic jam of motorized carts as the lot attendant driving one in would not back up to let her out. I managed to persuade him to move. When we got to her car, loaded her groceries, and she got into her vehicle she was crying. An elderly lady with visible disabilities, a customer, was crying because of how Giant employees treated refused her. I am FURIOUS !! The Asst Mgr politely listened to my complaint as I vented. I appreciate that effort on his part, doing his job. But his reception to my concerns are not enough. This incident involving multiple employees, a callous attitude, is indicative of the employee culture at this store. I will drive to ACME or Wegmans in the future. Giant has a virus of employee lethargy at best. And Giant has a long way to win back this customer. Next review I will discuss how they allow parking on the sidewalk near the entrances blocking both pedestrian and moving motorists view. This is a dangerous store in many ways.
