Giant Food Stores is a popular grocery store chain in the Lehigh Valley. I don't think they have great prices, but they do have a good selection and quality products. This location can be found inside the Lehigh Shopping Center off of W Union Blvd. Curbside pickup and delivery are both available. Lots of trash (mostly plastic bags) flying along the (near to PetCo) entrance to the parking lot. Once in front of Giant, I tried 3 different carts and each was broken or didn't work right. I gave up and used a basket... but therefore did not buy as much. I asked for sliced ham at the deli but was told the (only?) meat slicer was being cleaned (at 5 pm on Sunday?). I was bitten by mosquitos while there (inside...near the produce... I saw them). I was bitten 4 times and haven't been bitten all summer. There were flies inside, too. Gross. Not a good look. I do not know why I return there. It is always a disappointment. The people who work there are helpful and nice, so this is not a critique of the cashiers, etc. But management, maybe, needs to be overseeing things better. At least they had two live cashiers open. thisbis the only giants I know that will have a bunch of employees on shift and still only have 2 registers open... lines will start making a maze and still they won't open another register. meanwhile they have employees in the back just chillin on their phone are some in the online area not even getting orders yet... when a custome asked why they can't open another line the cashier Carmen rudely states, "we don't have people so your gonna have to wait" mame! we've been waiting im sure yall can spare one or two people from the online orders cause we're here now the online orders can wait... read more

It is very average. Very just... fine. The bakery is the highlight-- we actually prefer the bagels and some other baked goods from here to those we can get from Wegman's. But otherwise, it's the most reliable and affordable grocery store near downtown Bethlehem. I don't find the produce especially high quality or fresh, and it is not always reliable for truly specialty ingredients, but for staples it is more dependable (but more expensive) than Price Rite or C-Town and more convenient and more manageable than Wegman's. It's our go-to... at least until the Bethlehem Food Co-op opens! read more

Produce sucks, Deli doesn't listen, Staff is rude, Nothing is ever in stock. Can't wait to move and go back to the Giant in Forks!

I find it very unprofessional that I am waiting at 10:45 am at the Deli line with 8 other customers and there are ONLY 2 workers helping people & one decided to take 10 mins to clean the slicing machines while we all stand here and watch her...... not a happy camper read more

Well, three years later and things have only gone downhill. * Recently the store changed it's hours from 24/7 to 6am-Midnight. I have it on good authority from a 4th hand source that this was due to a large amount of shrinkage that was going on versus actual sales in the overnight hours. * What this translates into is an even worse situation where if you shop in the early morning right after they open you regularly need to dodge the obstacle course of boxes & pallates & delivery guys all thru out the isles while the shelves are being restocked seemingly all morning long. * Way, way, way too many staff standing around doing nothing up front by the customer service area or by the registers or who love to just stop mid-isle for a chat which then makes it your job to move around them not, Vice versa. This would also include the store's manager. * Very limited deli offerings compared to other chains in the area and hands down the slowest deli counter staff, period. They seemingly always have to go in the back to get more of whatever you just ordered and even when you ask them to cut things thicker it normally gets cut paper thin anyway. * Cart pickup occurs once every lunar eclipse? It's not uncommon to come here on a weekend in the afternoon and find they're are no carts inside at either of the two entrances which should be obvious as in the parking lot you probably just dodged several that were left in/next to a parking space or that are coming out of the cart corrals from all angles. For deli stuff or produce this store is the pits and I increasingly find myself willing to drive farther to Wegmans or Valley Farm for a better quality of choices and of product versus coming here. Long term I think Giant as a chain and in particular this location is screwed as the musical chairs grocery game seems to be going to extremes with places like Trader Joe's, Whole Foods and Wegmans on one end of the spectrum and places like Aldi, Price Chopper and Pricerite on the other end with the places in the middle kind of being left without a chair. read more

This store is clean, and most of the staff is very friendly and helpful. I like the bakery. The pharmacy is the real reason I ever visit this store anymore. They are very polite and helpful. I need special medication for my dog and they are lovely about having it ready for me. The downside to this store, and it is a HUGE factor to me, is that their prices are now going skyhigh. In the midst of a pandemic, when people are hurting financially, the Giant has chosen to raise their prices to the point where I now longer go there for groceries. I choose Price Rite instead. They do not have some products, so that is why it is a 3. I frequent this location because it is close to home and its where I go for the basics. I usually will go to a bigger Giant or Wegmans for a full shopping bc I can find everything I need there read more

Terribly annoying self-service machines, which are the only option after certain hours.

Went there last night (4/22) , haven't been there in a while but went t what used to be an entrance was now exit. Dry politely explained this is only an exit, entrance opposite side, as he's collecting carts & spraying disinfectant. Went to entrance, Giant employee standing doing nothing but telling customers where to put carts, not helping, spraying/disinfectant carts but had 2 1/2 rows of carts just sitting. This is what an Officer should be doing? Shame on you!!! read more

Today I was shocked at the lack of management and communication with their workers. There was a clerk I overheard talking isles over to another clerk trying to get ahold of management because they had to pee for over two hours. I watched as employees and management congregated over at the flower display not caring that this person needed to go to the bathroom. This person needed to make a scene for their basic needs to be met, this is definitely a management issue and I hope the management starts practicing more empathy towards their employees so I don't see this happen again. read more

While not particularly bad in any way, I always find myself searching for longer than I want for mundane things like bread. Honestly, each time I go, I always forget that the bread and bread related items such as peanut butter are located at the far end of the store in the same aisle as dairy. While I don't mind that too much, it just seems like a poor choice of layout. Beyond that, the selection is pretty decent. They generally tend to have what I'm looking for, but on a rare occassion they might not. On the other hand, they do have a decent deli selection. All in all, It's by far not bad, just not my first choice. read more

Bakery tells me I'm three hours too late to order cupcakes for the next day. It's 11 in the afternoon and I need an order of cupcakes for 8am the following day....darn three hours shy of the 24 hours that is required. Now these cupcakes are for a Monday morning, not a particularly busy day of the week. Thanks anyway went to redners and guess what, got the service I expected.
