This is only a very modest lunchtime review of their salmon. While there's a wide variety of prepared foods to choose from I figured the $8 salmon would fit the bill. The salmon comes pre-cooked and it's all wrapped container. You can either eat it as is or warm it up. Having warmed it up in the microwave ever so slightly, I found the salmon to be OK. I usually wouldn't write a review like this but this Wegmans was shocking. It was so unprofessional that I laughed out loud twice. I walked in and three uniformed girls were skipping around together, laughing and taking. When I went to the cashier, he was literally texting the entire time he checked me out, like on his phone while he was scanning groceries. Every time I am back in Bethlehem I have to stop in Wegmans, even if I don't need anything it's a must. I really wish Danny Wegman and company would bring this store to Michigan, my fellow Michiganders would be grateful. Wegmans is not your ordinary grocery store, it's a step up. You literally can get everything you need here and then some. What makes this store stand out above its competition is its prepared food area and cafe. You can literally eat a delicious meal here or grab something to take home if you don't have time to cook (or your burn everything). They also have a sub shop, pizza shop and coffee bar all inside. Heaven can exist in grocery form. While I would not do all of my shopping at Wegman's because it can be a little pricey (especially for a young professional recently out of college), there are certain things I would only get from here. 1) Their bakery: their ancient grain cranberry bread and their cinnamon and raisin bread make for some excellent French toast. Their bagels are fresh and amazing. Their carrot cake is oh my god, and the pumpkin cupcakes! Pretty much if I become fat, I blame the Wegman's bakery. And you know what, every extra pound would be totally worth it. 2) Their cheese selection: I love cheese. They have lots of it. Match made in heaven. 3) Foods from around the world: pretty good selection of specialty foods from other countries and cuisines. The place is very well organized, clean, and well-stocked. I love this grocery store. Before I moved to the East Coast, I didn't understand why everyone was so all about it. But now I do. It is clean. It is well-stocked. They have everything. They have an app where you can clip coupons and get sweet discounts. The people who work there are friendly and knowledgeable. They have an unmatchable grocery store bakery (top notch coconut cake!). They have a cafe that has BOTH iced coffee and cold brew. They have wine and beer (a rarity in PA!) They have an organic food section and a substantive vegetarian food section (multiple kinds of seitan, tempeh, veggie burgers, etc.). There is even a train that runs above the dairy and egg fridge! And their prices, while not the lowest, are competitive. You East Coasters were right, consider me a Wegman's convert! read more

I love Wegman's. I travel to Beth for work frequently and almost exclusively just eat here. Their prepared foods and salad bar are wonderful, second only to whole foods. Everything is fresh and delicious. All ingredients are listed out and tend to be very clean (I tend toward paleo) which I love. Their wild Alaskan salmon in their sushi counter......is consistently THE best salmon I've ever had. It is unreal. I have never liked their coffee. Any of their roasts. Even doctored up with cream and sugar and most definitely not black. It has this cardboard flavor of ugh. Great section of organic / clean foods. They don't sell full fat Greek yogurt in single containers for some reason?? This isn't a huge deal, just noting it. Parking is fine. Huge upstairs dining area overlooking the cafe section. I have been a regular (multiple times a week) shopper here for quite a while. Produce here has been going downhill for years; at least 2010, and it has changed from good, to mediocre to just plain bad. This used to be a good grocery store. But the produce department here is staffed with fools and simpletons. They have no idea how to store, present, price, or market their goods. Over the last three years, conventional green onions have changed from 79 cents to 129 cents per bundle, and have changed from a crisp, fresh bundle as thick as a man's wrist to a limp, browning bundle as thick as two fingers. They are often running out. These are not seasonal price fluctuations! You can get consistent quality at Giant, instead of the decline and fall of the Wegman's empire. Asparagus is frequently stored incorrectly, in trays that are dried out or tilted over so that they cannot get any water. This results in disgusting soft wilted asparagus that lasts about 2 days, as opposed to fresh asparagus that will stay crisp for a week. Somebody tell these dingalings that asparagus needs to be kept wet at the cut end. They frequently run out of iceberg lettuce. They have completely missed blueberry season this year. In 2011 and 2012, they always had 2 lbs boxes of excellent conventional and organic blueberries and their high but tolerable prices. This year, it's nothing but the small 4 oz boxes. It's not like blueberries are missing at any other store! Just Bethlehem Wegmans! derp! These trends indicate ineptitude at the bottom level and a lack of standards or a lack of competence at the managerial level. It's not like the store is being run by someone focused on profit - the high margin items like organic blueberries are just as neglected as the low margin items like heads of lettuce. Whoever is running this department is at best asleep at the wheel and at worst trying to ruin the rest of the store. At least the place manages to keep the power on during weather related blackouts. read more

Friday night use to be sushi night, but not anymore. Wegmans recently decided that it didn't want to have Asian contractors making sushi to save themselves money. They now have non experienced store employees making the sushi. We have complained several times about the quality. Store management told us to be patient that quality would improve when these employees learned. Management never offered us anything! We have tried back several time with the same poor quality results. Here's what you can expect them now. Poorly/loosely wrapped sushi, no consistency and sushi with a very little amount of fish. See the picture of this salmon roll... NO Salmon! This is a new corporate policy. We have tried the other Weagmans in the area with the same results. Poor quality sushi is the new standard. I so enjoy having a Wegman's nearby. I live less than a mile from another grocery chain, but if I'm willing to take the time then I will go to Wegman's. Their produce & deli prices are VERY reasonable (less expensive than some of the larger chain grocers & better selection/quality). I LOVE their Mediterranean Bar. I could eat their olives & hummus all day! The place IS pretty big, so it's hard to run in & out for something if you don't know exactly where everything is. Their meat & seafood is REALLY good quality, but you are going to pay extra for that quality. The butchers are very helpful as are most of the counter staff. I love going to the cheese counter & trying a few samples. Yum! Their salad bar is a bit pricey - they really should have separate pricing for the hot foods (lasagna, meatloaf, etc.) from the cold salad bar. I love their sushi to go, especially because they offer brown rice versions as well as white rice. Their soups are tasty & have the nutritional info right there! Their Market Cafe in general has a wonderful assortment of foods to choose from, whether it's pre-made or made-to-order. This is a good place to go for a quick lunch if you can't decide what you want to eat. For the area, Wegman's is a fantastic place to go if you want to broaden your grocery shopping experience. Wegman's came to town my junior year of college at Lehigh University. I was really missing the good, fresh food that I was used to and nothing else seems to sate my appetite until Wegman's came to town. The best part is that it's open 24 hours! This is a one-stop shop, it's Whole Foods + regular grocery store all in one. The prices are reasonable and there's a huge selection of gourmet foods as well as regular stuff you'd find at a grocery store. They also have a killer bakery, hot foods bar, deli counter, Chinese food bar, sushi, cheese counter, pizza shop, sub shop and salad station. There's a place to sit and eat upstairs if you'd like to just come here for lunch. I came here at least once/week during the time I was in college, if not more. I'm happy to have found this place! It happened to close to the hotel I was staying at and I remembered family from up north talking about how great Wegmans was, so I checked it out. I was impressed and I wish they had these in NC. It's like a mainstream grocery store meets Wholefoods, but way better. The place was nicely arranged, clean, and everything looked fresh. After driving for 14 hours to come into town for a funeral we stopped at Wegmans to get something gluten free since neither me or my daughter can eat gluten. We stopped at the sand which counter and saw that they had gluten free bread so we waited at the counter. The employee came over and asked if she could help us. I asked her if they had the gluten free bread and she said yes and it is very small and it is $8.50. I asked her if I could see it and she was very rude and pulled it out. So I asked what time they closed so we could do some shopping and come back. We went back to get the sand which and I asked if the meat was gluten free and she said no just the bread. Face it, it's hard to beat Wegmans for everything and anything related to grocery shopping. I know my wife has compared the pricing of doing all the grocery shopping at Valley Market, Giant, etc and it's almost always around the same or cheaper at Wegmans. I can't say it's the case for everyone, but I think it's a bit of a bad rep that everyone thinks Wegman's is 'expensive'. Sure we still stop at Valley or Giant to pick something up, but Wegmans is the primary store for the regular grocery shopping. Whether it's parking, the bakery, groceries, or eating on site from the several options of prepared foods - Wegmans is tops. If I have a complaint - it's that the bakery doesn't have the Black & White cookies enough! ;) read more

Let me just start off buy saying I only came here for lunch and not to shop. The store is massive and the lunch selection is crazy. I ended up having a sandwich which was even more insane with how big it was. I really enjoyed it, and was meaning to take some home, but just couldn't put it down. The seating upstairs is really nice as well and is very well taken care of which surprised me a little. I don't even have kids and i think it's awesome that they have a daycare - They have a daycare, right? Yeah I've only recently started going to Wegmans - fearing that it was going to be ridiculously expensive I hesitated from trying. Not only did i save money a handful of times I found so much more that I couldn't at the competition. My boyfriend loves the Sushi selection. Unfortunately we go later at night and the selection is slim. One thing however I don't like is how they push their brand down our throats. What if i wanted a bag of Dole Spinach??? Huh? They dont' carry it! Just the Wegman brand. Granted it's probably just as good if not better - yada yada yada, spinach is spinach -... But there have been many other times I couldn't find something specific. Well it's still fine. I was forced to realize brand means nothing in most cases. So thanks Wegmans for knocking some sense into me and creating a good brand at low prices. read more

Brown Hamburger Meat. I was at the store earlier today shopping I noticed the date on the hamburger meat so I talked to one of the managers he had someone come from the meat department come over he ended up gave me two new packages from the back room dated July 29 so I was happy. I got home and a few hours later I took one of the packages out of the fridge so I can start making patties and I noticed there was browning on the meat, I went to the fridge and check my other package and that was fine and there was no browning. I made a trip back to the store tonight and brought the meat to the customer service counter and spoke with a manager name Rob he had me exchange the meet he apologized I had to make a second trip which was nice. There was a difference of $1.93 and for some reason they decided that they wanted me to pay the difference, under normal circumstances this wouldn't be an issue but I thought as a customer service nice gesture most managers would waive the $1.93 but not in this case. I'm a little shocked that I had a problem with meat dated 7/29 from the back room but I'm also a little disappointed in having to pay the difference of $1.93 after making a second trip. read more

My favorite supermarket. They have so many different varieties of food from all over the continent. The prepared food tastes amazing also. I was originally born in England so I come here to purchase the food and treats that are imported from the UK. They also offer a variety of vegan food and organic food, vegetables, fruits, chips, you name it they have it. The store itself is so clean and organized. The employees are super friendly and always helpful. For instance, today wasn't such a great day for me to be honest and I was feeling kind of down, it was around 10:00 p.m. and I decided to go do some shopping, I get to the register to pay for my groceries and the cashier whom I wish I could remember her name was just so friendly, she was asking me how I was doing that evening and even though I was feeling down of course I didn't tell her that. We were just chit-chatting while she was scanning my items and after paying for my groceries she looked at me and said " do you like earrings?" yes! I love earrings I replied. I'm not kidding you she took out her pocketbook from under the back counter and pulled out all these earrings in individual plastic baggies and said to me "which one would you like? "She said "I make them myself and you can have any pair that you want" oh my gosh my eyes were filling up with tears, not to be too dramatic but I was so happy within that moment that this stranger was being so kind to me, she must have picked up or sensed that I was not having such a good day. I picked out a pair and then she gave me two more pairs, wow! I thanked her and told her she had just made my day and which she did. What a wonderful human being. Just for that kind gesture I will never go anywhere else to shop. I'm sorry I don't remember her name but I'm sure I will see her again and when I do I will be wearing the earrings that she gave me. Thank you so much! The manager of this store should be so proud of his/her employees, definitely five stars from me. read more

Without a doubt, this is the best grocery store around. For my first few years as a Lehigh undergrad, I stayed away, thinking it was expensive. Turns out I had no idea what I was talking about, as its prices are generally at or below other grocery stores in the area. In addition, it's just fun to shop here, as the store is kept really nice and has a lot more character than Giant or Pathmark. Wegman's bakery is second to none, as far as supermarket bakeries go. The muffins are delicious at only 99 cents each, and I also really like their rolls. The bagels are pretty good, though not quite as good as Johnny's. They also has the best 6-pack beer selection around, even though it's a little pricey. They've got all sorts of imported beers, both cold and warm, so it's a nice place to find new brands to try. Best grocery store in the area. For those that claim the one on 248 is better, please understand this is a higher tier store in the Wegmans chain. Offerrings are great. I have been going here for years. Unfortunately, there is one woman that works in produce this entire time that is so absolutely miserable and rude, that I go out of my way to avoid her. On many occassions I have thought to complain, but then I think to myself, how could they not grasp the concept of her performance from this perspective. There is another rude woman in the meat section that has on a few occassions told us we didn't want what we said we wanted. I don't need to explain myself as to my food preferences and I don't need someone to look at me oddly when I do. Wegman's.....your store is great but you seriously need to rethink a few of your employees. You do that, you get a 5 star. I am happy to say that the few young managers that used to walk through the front by the registers seem to no longer be there because they always seemed to think you should get out of their way, not the other way around. read more

I typically go to this store about a Lehigh student it's very close and convenient. However in my most recent visit I experienced racism that was so off-putting I'll never return. I went to the self-checkout counter and actually scanned at the register nearest to the employee watch person. She hovered over my shoulder. Each time that an item didn't immediately scan (bc those things can be tricky) she would walk over as I was trying to re-scan the item and watch me do it. To the point she literally stood directly beside me and watched me bag and scan each item. I am a paying customer and as a black woman in this political climate I'm not going to be made to feel like a criminal for faulty machines being unable to read scanners. When I left she didn't say bye to me even though she did every other customer. NEVER RETURNING. read more

Absolutely love Wegmans. Each week I drive 30 min to go shopping as there is only a Redners nearest to me (yuck!). Everything I buy is so fresh and delicious. Being a vegan there are so many options available in this store. The app is awesome too. You can prepare your list ahead of time, you know exactly how much you'll be spending and which aisle to find your items. You can also clip coupons on the app which is nice. read more

This is the best grocery store in the Bethlehem area. There are no Whole Foods or "gourmet" grocery stores, so this is it! They have an amazing selection of cheeses and meats. It's a great place to go if you're planning a party, because they have lots of great hors d'oeuvre type foods, and of course everything you'd need for the main course and dessert. Speaking of dessert, they have a pastry counter with french pastries (and good breads and rolls). You will also find some awesome food in the international foods section and the candy section. The produce could be better, but like I said, this is the best in the Bethlehem area. If you need other household items like toilet paper, dinnerware, greeting cards, they'll have them. This review is solely based upon the food services this Wegmans' has to offer, such as the salad bar, sushi bar, deli, etc. Being I have closer grocery stores to my house with cheaper prices I only go to Wegmans for their buffets or sushi. I would have to say I think the sushi is very tasty as well as the pizza. The Asian buffet is great, but I'm one to enjoy Asian food. I've had a few desserts from here as well, such as certain chocolate cakes, and they're all delicious. OK, enough about the food I'm beginning to drool as I type this review. Lets not forget about the upstairs seating area. It is very clean has bathrooms located on the 2nd floor as well. This is difficult to write since I've been a customer here at this location for many years and always loved it and it's workers. However during this pandemic this Wegmans has really dropped the ball ...well at least the Bethlehem location, I can't speak for the others since I don't shop there. A pet peeve I had even before covid when I shopped in store was the constant issue of being out of stock on certain items...at time for a couple of weeks....while the Nazareth or Allentown locations would have plenty of the same item. They would have all kinds of excuses but as a customer I don't care. I want to shop at a place where I can always get what I need. As my boss (or any boss) used to say if you gave them an excuse for something not working right; " I don't care, just fix it!" Figure something out. Well during the pandemic it has gotten worse. So much so that I was forced to start supplementing my shopping at Giant. After doing this I began to notice that they always had what I needed. Well, at least most of the time. Then something else. During the pandemic Wegmans raised their prices for each item for curbside. I believe they said it was 15% per item but whatever it was we were paying substantially more for each item. It hurt our pocket. Meanwhile Giant didn't do this, They charged a measly $2.99 extra per order. So if I bought $100 worth of groceries they would be normal priced and my total would be $102.99. On top of that, if they didn't have something they would replace it but not charge any differences. For example: I ordered a 12 ounce bag of coffee which cost about $5 and they were out of 12 oz bags. They replaced it with a 24 oz bag....twice as much...but still charged me for the smaller bag I ordered and they do this with all items. If they are out and they replace it with something more expensive they still charge the original price of what you ordered. Since we got into this pandemic and curbside I've shifted to doing the bulk shopping at Giant saving only a few items for Wegmans each week. Certain things that they have which I'm familiar with and continue to get there (very few). Once this is ended and I begin going back in-store I will be able to better check out these items and totally switch to Giant. Sad....I loved Wegmans but they totally let me down here. The other sad thing is that unlike other businesses Wegmans won't respond to any of these reviews. read more
