7/23/20 update. Social distance encouraged and staff wear masks. Only the northeast entrance in use. They always have what I need, and unlike Weis the produce and dairy items aren't old and nearly past their prime. Prices are higher than food lion or Weis. Biggest drawback is lack of cashiers. Only one lane open today and five customers waiting.

They don't advertise sales appropriately and I have purchased expired products here because I did not check the date.

Clean, bright, not overly crowded, short checkout lines.

Aside from the really friendly guy who works in the produce department, I don't love this location…read more The produce is decent here and I'd say better than the Lusby location quality wise. They seem to take their time making sure the produce they put out is fresh. They do have pretty decent sales and the self checkout is easy to use. The aisles are laid out really bizarrely- the milk is stored in a random aisle and not on the outer edge of the stories like in most locations. I tried placing an online deli order through their app with a 30 pickup time window and waited, and waited, and waited for a text that my meat and cheese was ready until the end of the window. By this time I was completely done with my shopping and still nothing so I went to the deli counter to ask and they hadn't started preparing my order or even noticed that it had been placed. They tried to start on it then but then they realized they didn't even have two of the meats that I had ordered in stock, so they directed me to the already packaged meats in the deli. No thanks, if I wanted pre-packaged meat I wouldn't have tried to order fresh from them. This is the second Giant location where this has happened to me so I don't really see the point of 1) offering the service of ordering online to save time when in reality it takes longer than just waiting in line at the counter to order and 2) letting people places orders for things that aren't even in stock.

They were wonderful. As for me, I spent my time stocking up on some wine and beer I had not seen before, coming from vineyards I have not bought from. Nick's is located near other stores. Nice area. Last night I was going to fix it for dinner when I opened it the ham has a very thick slimy and gooey. It had a nicked sticker on it so I thought they would take it back without a receipt, it was under $7. So I went in and spoke with the manager told him about it first thing he asked for is a receipt, no I don't but it has your pricing sticker you can see I purchased it here. He wouldn't even look at it just wanted a receipt, said he could look it up if I used a charge card. I shop here a few times a week, I hardly ever purchase meat ahead of time to use later except for bacon I get 5lbs at a time and meat like the packaged ham steaks or whole yams that have a longer use by date for planned ahead meals , I stop in pickup what ever meat I'm fixing for dinner that night. This is the second time since this store has opened up that a meat I purchased from here had an issue with it and this was the first time I was asked for a receipt. I've been shopping at a Nicks since I was a kid my grandmother use to take me to the one in Clinton once a week, then when I started working I would stop in Nicks of Clinton to get a sub for lunch. It was really nice when the one opened in St-Charles off of Rt 5 and Mattawoman-Beantown Rd. I started purchasing meat for my own family and then this one opened in Calvert made it even more convenient to shop at. I guess I'll have to learn to take a picture of my receipt from here in case this happens again or I can just continue to be a loyal shopper here and just take the loss and move on. I'm not going to stop shopping here since this is only the 2nd time getting a bad product for as long as I've been a shopping at a Nick's.

I always take forever in the store because I am reading labels in the frozen foods and the unusual pickles and sauces and garnishes. Produce is on par with Harris Teeter and giant . Bargains abound. When you usually walk in you are funneled down what is essentially their snack aisle. But at this one, you are greeted with the produce section, which I thought was more appropriate. Could also explain why a majority of the produce was picked over or completely gone. I made my way through the store and grabbed everything I needed/wanted and then some. I paid particular attention to the ALDI Finds section just to see if they would have anything extra. I know a lot of people usually just browse over the items that are for the home, but I prefer to go through the food section and pick over items that they don't usually carry. It's always fun to see what food items they don't carry and probably never will again. It's like a game, you might like it, you might not. If you do like it, too bad, you'll never see it again. Checking out was a bit of a stalled area. I did my time in the checkout line. I always somehow come out of here with just two bags, not sure how I do it, but I'm glad I don't go over that amount.
