My poor rating is regarding the issue I had with one of Giants employees, Angela/Angie this morning. I am a regular shopper for DoorDash in this location and have never had a problem until today. I had two separate orders, so I went to self checkout so I could bag everything accordingly and double check everything. I start scanning my first order and Angie comes up with her handheld scanner and scans the paper towels on the floor. I question her and let her know that the paper towels are not for this order, that there are two separate orders. She continues to tell me that's why I should've gone to a cashier because she's supposed to be monitoring me. Fine, monitor me; but don't just go scanning things when you don't know what's going on. I didn't realize it wasn't okay to have two separate orders in self check out. So I continue to ring up the first order. As soon as I start my second order she comes back up to me and tries to scan the paper towels again. Like at this point I'm feeling singled out and harassed. I have done nothing wrong, I have never stolen anything. I was working, so I wasn't even paying for the items myself. I then tell her to get away from me that she was harassing me. A manager Cindi came up and said that she was "just doing her job." It's her job to monitor. If I was doing something wrong or stealing something, then yes, confront me; but I was doing nothing other then ringing up two separate DoorDash orders. I feel discriminated against by this Angie. If the situation was reversed and it was a black customer and a white cashier, then it would be considered racism; but since she was a black cashier and I'm a white customer that's okay? She was nothing but rude, accusatory, and harassed me for no reason. This is not okay, and the fact that the "manager" stood by her and said that was her job is ludicrous. I come to this Giant to shop all the time and I have never had a problem any other time I used self checkout. I have never had an employee try to ring up my items, nor was Angie trying to ring up any other shoppers items.. just mine. That's the definition of discrimination and it's not okay. I think it's time for Angie's racist self to retire. read more

Two registers open and a line at them both!!! Where is the manager??? It seems like they only want self service

Expensive mid level grocery store chain. Nothing great about them also nothing really that bad. It's just mediocre and ordinary. Not a fan of the meats, bakery, or dairy. I wouldent be complaining if they were the same qualify as Trader Joe's or wegmans. This location is clean and well lit but not as modern and nice as many of the locations up north. Clerks are friendly and I can usually get in and out of here somewhat quickly. read more

RUDE management to customers and employees - Vickie and Cindy have NO business being managers! if they don't like their job, don't make others dislike theirs! Giant is local grocery store, in the true rich tradition of the main street supermarket, these are people from the community who serve the community. I have gone to Giant for years when I lived in Glen Burnie and then when I moved to Lothian. It is always clean, food is always well presented, prices are solid, well stocked, fresh and I love their prepared meals. The staff is always courteous and professional. The way that Giant has supported the community during COVID has been and will always be the gold standard. There may be many places you can go but you will not find one that is better than our Giant here in Dunkirk. Thank you! read more

Great store great customer service too! Never disappointed coming here. I love that I get gas points that come in handy and being a couponer I get great deals too. Never any problems and they have self checkout for ppl like me in a rush most of the time. Clean store and never had a problem finding what I need. read more

Unbelievably awful customer service with every single visit. More specifically when speaking with the evening customer service desk manager. On multiple occasions she has been impatient, unapologetic and rude. Don't waste your time and money shopping at this Giant location. You will be very disappointed. read more

This is my Giant! The staff is always super nice and helpful, the store is clean, the manager is very nice everytime we have been in, and they usually have pretty good sales often. It's literally really the only grocery store we really shop at and it's not far from my home. read more

Pharmacy is super slow at giving the COVID vaccine. They don't appear to care at all about the appointment time.

We hosted a funeral celebration last week for my husband's mother's family of 30! Giant came through with party platters that were perfect for our needs. We ordered wraps, luncheon platters and cookies. Rolls were extremely fresh! Thank you!! read more

Got off from work and went there to get a few things. It was around 5:00 pm and guess what, only 2 lines open through the whole store!!!! Cashiers moving like snails. The rest of the customers were using the self-checkout which was barely functioning. The light was blinking on one self-checkout and she waiting there 5-10 mins before this child employee cleared the error. I expected this kind of service in Wal-Mart..... read more

Just moved to the area and shopped at Giant for the first time. I give it 4 out of 5 stars. Here is a breakdown: Pro's - Incredibly clean and open feeling. Bright, too. Puts you at ease when you first walk in the door. A good thing. - Nice wide isles with excellent lighting - Huge seafood and deli area. - Easy to sign up for Giant rewards card. Took all of 2 minutes and had my card already. - Staff were very friendly...from the stockers to the deli to the cashier. Con's - Selection was spotty. For instance, there was only one kind of marinara sauce (Ragu...yuck!!). A store this size I would expect a more robust line of sauces - Selection of fruits and veggies wasn't as extensive as the space suggests. That section occupies a large portion of the store, proportionally speaking....but did not have THAT much to choose from. I have been to other places of similar size which had more to offer. - Prices were high. When you look down at a jar of normal spaghetti sauce and it is $4.50ish...AND it isn't one of the high-end sauces...you know you've entered the high-priced zone. Everything from Bread to meats were very expensive. - Wait time at deli was insane. It took me 15 minutes to get my order. Little sense of urgency from staff there...although they were nice, to be fair...just slow as can be. Frustrating as I was in a relative hurry. CONCLUSION: Overall, a pleasant experience. Their prices are enough for me to shop around, but I can definitely see myself going back on sale days. Much nicer than the Safeway across the street....it's no contest. read more

This is my store, but not for long. Most of the staff know me and are very nice to me. The Customer Service manager, Cindy, she is great. Always moving and doing, but the manager, Debbie, she is a real bitch. I cannot stand her. I have been shopping there for years and spend a good $1500 a month there. I use there deli for all my events that I hold quarterly, employee luncheons, summer parties and winter parties. I love what they do there with the platters and figured I will have them do it and I get great platters instead of using private caterers. I make a lot of money than that manager makes in a year, but I am not flashy. My money is not used for materialistic things. I have a huge house, 4 cars and 2 HD motorcycles, that it. I do for my children a lot, I give to charities always. But because apparently I dress in biker boots, plain shirts and black jacket after work hours, she seems to judge a book by it's cover. She has stalked me in the store for the past 6 months. I go down an aisle and she is at the end of it just staring at me. Yesterday was the last straw. I'm checking out and she comes behind me on the other side of the wall where the other self checkouts are and starts speaking to an employee, but watching me. I finally turned around to ask if I was in the way of her conversation. She said No. I said well maybe I'll just step back, wait for the conversation to end and then proceed with my items to checkout because I don't appreciate conversation going thru the back of my head. Not a bad place to shop, but store manager treats employees pretty bad. I couldn't believe my ears! It was awful. No one should be allowed to talk to their employees like that, I was disgusted. Live a couple a minutes away, which makes it convenient.Its also very clean, but I do have to say the staff are terrible.

This store is pretty nice compared to other Giants I've been to. The produce I buy is always fresh, and the store is usually clean and well-stocked. My one complaint is that sometimes the frozen food seems like it's been allowed to get a little warm. Maybe inevitable in the business, but it's disappointing to get something home and have it be less than pristine (slightly melty ice cream bars, for example). read more

Appearance 4 Selection 2 Customer service. 1 Check out. 1 Cleanliness 3 Organization 2 Giant was a favorite in the area. They continously run out of items and more often than not I am having to visit another store across the street right after leaving. Stickers are always taking up isles while customers are trying to shop. Recently they added around 8 small check outs that have very little space for bagging. While these check outs are always open they only have 1-2 regular check outs open... this makes shopping here very unpleasant. Most families buy a cart full of groceries and do NOT want to try to manage these check outs with so many items so they are forced to stand in line for 1 checker (even though they have an entire store front of check out lines that they never use. Many of the locals are exited for the new option of a new local store. A lot of would be loyal to giant but it seems Giant Corporate wants them to look new but still provide a poor experience; and in my opinion, a worse experience now with their new set up. Will be switching to the competition across the street as of today. They obviously have not listened to what the customers want. It's been a nice 8 years of shopping here but we are done! read more

Ahhh...nice! Clean! Friendly! I travel 17 miles out of my way, just to shop here! Yep! a store that's nice, clean and friendly is worth the drive! Of course, wait until my grocery list is pretty full. It helps that Walmart is just next door, and Wawa is just up the street (cheap gas!). read more

The produce is consistently moldy and the salads are wet. Every time we think we've found a container of strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries, we get it home and find mold inside. I even got food poisoning last week and I think it could be because I had Giant's raspberries. The deli wait time is astronomical, most of the time I stand around with my ticket and just take off (any time of day, busy or not, it's difficult to get service). Other than that things are pretty standard. Bakery is good, frozen food selection is pretty good but could use more vegetarian-friendly options, dairy and canned foods are fine, and there are Certified Humane eggs (they do need humane meat options!). But the produce is about to drive me up the wall. And don't get me started on the self-checkout lines. However, staff is generally friendly and available. One more plus, there is customer with infant parking. read more

I moved to the area 2 years ago and my husband likes to shop at Giant because aisles are wider than Safeway. I usually shop safeway, but I have been trying to use your handheld self check program and between Dunkirk and P. Fred stores, there is always a malfunction with the kiosk, handheld, or checkout. I have gone twice to P Fred store and the system hasn't even been operational both times!! Voice prompt at registers at both stores are too loud! Check it out, very stressful to have that much noise from all the self-serve registers. BTW--Giant was first to go to self-serve--not impressed that you guys prefer a 'hands-off' approach to customer service--like the banks. I do not use self check-out at all, but attempted to use the handheld device system--no good, so far. read more
