Floral Department review The floral department was closed on Sunday, so my daughter and I made this bouquet ourselves (out of three smaller bouquets. First time shopping here, and likely the last. Floral should be open on Sundays, but we made do. Okay selection of flowers, prices seemed reasonable, although there were no tools for customers to DIY in a pinch. i.e celephane wrap, ribbon, scissors, etc. (maybe it's safer that way). Incredibly rude customer service. For 30 years, their self service took cash, today, I go there and they redid their self service, added one checkout. I go up and checkout, and when I'm finished, there's no option for cash. I'm looking around and finally a clerk says "No cash". I said 'where does it say that so you know while you're waiting in line. He grunts and points at the machine. Grunts and points. Turns out, there is a small sign on the bottom of the machine, nothing at eye level, absolutely nothing to tell you while you are standing in line. Then, he just got worse, I'm not even going to go into it all, but the kid never used a complete sentence, just grunts and 2-3 word phrases. I stopped going here when they started charging for bags, and only went back a year later when someone told me they had stopped that. Looks like I'll be avoiding it again. read more

The latest innovation: Giant Eagle now sells us paper bags to pack our groceries in. The bags are flimsy and will rip even before you place them in your car. 10c a bag without any notice. Said bags will subsequently end up in a trash and then in a landfill. End of story. Whatever happened to the reusable cloth bags? Poof gone. No thanks. Will drive an extra mile and shop at Dave's in Severance. They have a better choice of meats, and their plastic bags are free. read more

First, there were no shopping carts OR baskets available. Then, as soon as we rounded the corner to check out (arms full of items), only 2 registers were open with the lines down the shopping aisles. A woman came up to, what it seemed like, open the express checkout lane--nope. She checked out 2 people and then started yelling at customers to get out of her lane because she wasn't open. I like this store for its proximity and the reward card program they have. But overall, I would say it is expensive on product that are not produce. I found out that a few product are more expensive as their competitor, and by a lot. Take the example of the nut butter : same product/brand/ format is half price somewhere else. You accumulate point for groceries discounts and discounts on the gas. I wish they would have explained it to me, as I am still figuring it out. It is also always clean and I never waited over than 5-10 min at the register. So overall convenient for location and having fresh produce; but the rest of the market would be for me, more expensive. read more

Pathetic customer service at store #5830! I went to the checkout with a six pack of beer and two bottles of Gnarly Head wine. The wine was marked as $2.00 off, which would have made it $7.99 per bottle. When I brought this to the cashier's (Jasmine) attention, she called for who might have been a manager? The lady only rolled her eyes and made some sort of sound as her tongue stuck out past her toothless smile. Apparently the wine was a mail in rebate? The rebate slip printed at the register was illegible due to low ink in the machine. I handed it to the cashier and stated that it was illegible and she took it and threw it away and did not attempt to print another. So I left the store without the rebate form. I will be calling corporate on Monday. read more

I decided to stop by this store to pick up a few odds and ends for a day trip that I'm going on tomorrow. As I walked up to the store, I noticed that all of the people coming out seemed to have masks on. So when I reached the front door, I paused for several minutes and carefully read over their posted instructions, which instructed *all* customers (not just those who are vaccinated) to wear masks. As I was doing this, a cart attendant started yelling at me in a loud, aggressive manner for not wearing a mask. I know how to interact with people even if he doesn't, so I smiled, walked back to my car, and went to one of Giant Eagle's competitors. I have zero tolerance for disrespect. Giant Eagle has every right make store policies. It does *not* have the right to publicly insult customers who are taking the time to read the rules, especially when said customers aren't actually violating said rules. I was neither in the store nor attempting to enter it. Evidently, the bellicose cart attendant and Giant Eagle itself need an attitude adjustment. Until they get one, I won't be back. read more

I spent ONE HOUR in Giant Eagle in Beachwood, OH from 7:05pm - 8:10pm 12/21/2022 to purchase 6 items! There is a blizzard warning for this weekend and there were only 5 registers open, & 2 self-check outs in the same line as the scan'n'go line. All of the check-out lines went literally to the back of the store. The only manager just walked around saying he had no help, he had 50 applications that were worthles.......he never went to bag any groceries nor did he open another register - DISGRACEFUL read more

Really like this place, but the prices are a little high (I guess they have to make that up since they are giving the gas discounts) But the pharmacy has the best deals of all. Get all my meds there for usually $4. They work with you to find the best price (via generic, or whatever) Their sales are pretty good, and you don't have to buy the quantity, so if it says to for $6, you can buy one for $3. read more

This Giant Eagle grocery store is across the street from my office, and since I'm not great about bringing my lunch to work, I run over to make a salad, on average, once a week. The salad bar selections are decent, it is conveniently located (no need to walk through aisles to get to it), and usually well-stocked (on my latest visit, though - at the beginning of lunch time - there were no large containers available, and those compartmented ones are not going to cut it for me). The sad service is what keeps this from being a preferred store for me, The times I have needed the help of an employee, I have felt like I was bothering them. The best response I have received is the aisle number of an item I was unable to locate (I subsequently searched through that aisle, and concluded that the item was not in their inventory - then went to another family-owned store a couple of miles away, where the employee walked me to the item, and then asked if he could help me find anything else). Another time, while making my way around the salad bar, another customer dropped a spoonful of veggies; the salad bar lady cleaned up behind him, spewing profanity ("Do you do this sh*t at your house?"); this was years ago, and that woman no longer works here. The worst response was (and this also was long ago) when an item would not ring up at the self-service checkout, and the employee on hand just watched and did not respond. When I asked her for help, she asked me the price of the item, and I told her I did not know (the main reason I am not the grocery shopper for our household; the mister ALWAYS looks for the best bargain, while I simply pick up what I need). Her response: "Well, what do you THINK it is?" I was dumbfounded. I told her that I honestly did not know, and she tilted her head and did a bit of an eye roll. I didn't know what to say or do. I asked her for her name (she was not wearing a name tag), and her reply was, "What are you going to do, call a manager?" Having an argument was unnecessary; this was just me and a small bag of groceries, not something upon which someone's life depended, so I just. walked. away. Went back to work, got some things done, chilled for a couple of hours, and then called to speak calmly with the manager to talk about the "incident." Poor guy said, "I am sorry, and please keep shopping here. I was transferred to this store a couple of weeks ago, and I don't know what's wrong with these people." On my most recent visit, after putting together my salad, I decided to grab some Cape Cod popcorn (I fell in love with their sea salt and white cheddar flavors when we vacationed in Cape Cop and visited their HQ). Grabbed THREE bags, because with three, the sale price marked was $1.99 per bag instead of $3.49. At the self checkout, they rang up at regular price, so I asked the employee at the station for assistance; same result for him. I explained the signage, he said he'd need to see it, so I left my things there and went to get the tag (this time, I WANTED my groceries). He went with me, grabbed the tag, and we returned to the register. He noted that the sale price was for last week. OK, my response, how do we get them to ring up as marked? He offered to delete one of the bags. That's still not the correct price (and I would think that would mess with the store's inventory/sales records). He re-rang them manually at the advertised price, and I left happy, with salad for lunch and popcorn to last at least the afternoon. So much better than past interactions. There are a couple of employees who are very good at what they do, and I look forward to seeing and talking with them, even if just in passing; the gentleman who corrals the shopping carts and puts them back at the entrance (whatever the Cleveland weather, that man works and greets everyone), and a woman who works the checkout area and is friendly, personable, and quick to help customers. These folks are gems, and assests for Giant Eagle. If you shop here, be alert and aware in the parking lot; it's like a game of frogger out there. Not everyone looks before they back out of a parking space, and just like any other lot, there are folks who don't mind the stop sign, are in a big hurry to get in/out of there, or busy doing something in addition to driving. read more

I eat at their cafe at least once a week, the food is great- fresh salad options always fully stocked in their cold bar and a lot of comfort food with options always changing. I love their bakery, everything is well made and delicous. Items are a bit overpriced, but you'll find that at any Giant Eagle. My biggest issue with this Giant Eagle is the pharmacy, I don't need it often but whenever I do it's a nightmare. I go every 3 months for a 90 day prescription- I have to use the generic of this prescription to avoid side effects so I make sure I tell them. First time they told me it would be ready in 20 minutes. An hour later they finally tell me that they don't carry the generic brand. I have to ask if they would call another pharmacy and see if another location carries it. Every other pharmacy I've been to would offered to call. Yesterday I needed two prescriptions for my cat. I was told 20-30 minute wait. I ran to the pet store for some additional shopping and came back 30 minutes later, not ready. An hour and a half later, it's finally ready, then the pharmacist asks why my dog needs the prescription. First of all, it's for a cat, they never asked me but they put her in the system as a dog. Secondly, She's the pharmacist and should know what it's for especially since these prescriptions were very small doses of common human medications. It really bothers me that the pharmacist didn't know what they were used for and didn't care Cat v.s. Dog. They are very different animals who need different treatment, I called my vet this morning to make sure that the generic they gave me of one of the meds was the same thing because I don't trust their judgment. read more

The only reason it gets a two star is because the staff is friendly and kind. Besides that this store is understaffed and the other customers are the worst. If you ever want to lose your faith in humanity walk down a couple of aisles. The staff that is there is great though Hey management help them out and hire a couple more people. Lots of negative reviews! I'm surprised!!! I had a great experience there today. Nice selection of fresh veggies and fruit plus organic options. Nice looking fresh fish and meat. I got everything I needed and was pleasantly surprised at the savings. But, the best part of my visit was my check out person Demetrus(sp)!!! Awesome! Efficient, helped me save by looking up my card, everything was packaged up so well, very nice smile and eye contact. Best checker I have had in a long time!!! Also, someone posted a review complaining about no check out people and it took too long. I counted 8 open lines with only 1 to 2 people in line. Nothing but issues everytime I come to beachwood for curbside pick up. They have me someone else's groceries last time. Almost every time I go they are never prepared. Skip the pharmacy at Giant Eagle. The headache is not worth whatever savings you think you will gain from that highly-questionable coupon you found online. Go to your local hospital or CVS or Walgreens. The Giant Eagle "pharmacy staff" are painfully under-qualified. I swear they don't know what they're doing. Most of them don't use the word "prescription." Instead they pronounce the abbreviation "Rx," as in: "Yes, I just checked - we can definitely refill your R-X for pick-up in an hour." Ugh. When you arrive you may discover they actually *didn't* check. Turns out they can't refill it. Good thing you've already made the trip. No explanation. No help offered. Ok I go in to find some lunch. I purchased a prepared meal of Chicken leg quarters; it was good. At checkout I am entering my Giant Eagle number at a self serve register and it did not take. A girl runs up and rather than asking what happened; do I need help or the like she grabs my phone from my hand. I proceeded to say I will hold that; allowing her to see the screen and she said I can't see it from that angle and snatched it back. A one week old Galaxy Note Edge (just under $1,000.00) and without a case (I generally don't use one). My thought was grab my phone from my hands; one more time! If I were not a professional; perhaps someone with a different character and set of values this situation would have ended very differently for her. Needless to say I wont be returning to this Giant Eagle. Extremely rude. A few years ago I wrote about a Giant Eagle on the near West Side that took utensils off the ground (Dropped in front of me) and put them BACK IN THE FOOD. Someone at Giant Eagle saw my review and attempted to buy me lunch at the store and give me a tour of the kitchen and such to show that this was a one-off. I did not take them up on this offer as my review was not written looking for a free meal, I can afford my own meals just fine. With this in mind the response seemed sincere and typical for damage control. My visits to Giant Eagle have been limited ever since this first event and today may or may not influence what has become an exception rather than the rule as a shopping destination. This and my prior review are not intended to defame the retailer they are simply an honest memorization of my experience. Most of my reviews are positive experiences and most negative encounters I don't bother to write about as EVERYONE has a bad day. Today's events have been echoed in some fashion repeatedly at this location (which happens to be right next to the office building I work in) so it finally came time for me to speak up. The only Giant Eagle that I have never had a bad experience in (that I would frequent) is Chesterland OH.) I lived in Chesterland when I was married and the staff was like family and the store was clean and stocked. While not the newest store in their chain and by far not the largest it is very well run and the newer super stores could learn a thing or two about their practices. read more

I have gone to several Giant Eagles in the area and this one stands out as the worst run / managed store. The lines are horrible consistently, there are never any small baskets near the entrance - I have to go over to check out to find them. They rarely answer their phone. Was in line at deli department and a worker came out the door to serve a customer and did not change their gloves. So I walked away. The bathroom is always filthy every time I shop. Paper towels not in dispenser so that's not sanitary. Soap goes not lather well. Toilet tissue is always on the floor. Feces either on toilet seat or splatter inside that I got so disgusted I just left the store. If the bathroom is nasty then to me the food is not handled properly!!! I'm been going to this location, but didn't have to go to the restroom. But lately had to and like I said not a good sight. Someone should check periodically. But I've seen enough. Without a doubt the worst grocery store in the area! If you want a packet of dressing to go along with your salad in prepared foods you might as well forget it. They hide them behind the counter in the prepared foods area but you can't get to them. The employees for that area are always down near the deli yacking it up while they stand there watching you wait. Don't bother asking another employee to get you a packet you'll get "sorry not my area". Send in a complaint, what do you know, no response! This is the only grocery store that won't honor the sale price when they fail to remove the sign. The only grocery store where you will be put on hold for 15 minutes waiting for the bakery and when they do answer they don't know if they can make a red velvet cake so they have to ask and call you back but guess what they never do. On a positive note the people at the checkout are nice and the cart guy is very pleasant. Not sure how this place stays in business. I'm moving on taking my business elsewhere.
