I always get great service at Ancaster Cycle. The guys are all friendly and timely with service, and always ready to share their knowledge.

Try Pieriks or free wheel cycle for better support and more reasonable pricing on service.

Buyer Beware -- Pattern of Incompetence and Dismissive Conduct…read more I'm writing this based on direct, first-hand experience -- both as a customer and as someone who worked for this business. In 2021-22 I bought a Kinetic R1 smart trainer for $1,200, sold to me as fully functional and supported. It did not work properly from the start. When I raised concerns immediately, they were dismissed rather than investigated. This wasn't a subtle issue -- it was an obvious failure that any competent, experienced dealer should have recognized, yet it was brushed off instead of addressed or disclosed. That same lack of competence showed up repeatedly in the mechanical work done on my bike. Year after year, basic race-prep items were missed or ignored. Before the London race, I personally flagged a worn rear derailleur that needed replacement. It was not ordered or addressed, and that oversight nearly cost me the race. This wasn't complex work -- it was basic follow-through that didn't happen. Before Ironman 70.3 Mont-Tremblant, I also personally saw my race bike transported with heavy items pressed against it. On race day, I experienced mechanical issues that were dismissed afterward rather than properly investigated or corrected. Over time, availability during critical summer weekends became inconsistent, repairs took longer, and follow-through declined. I ultimately had to take my bike elsewhere to get the issues addressed properly. During that period, it was clear that attention was divided across multiple business interests, and customer care suffered as a result. While working there, I observed the same pattern with customer bikes: rushed work, incomplete checks, and problems minimized instead of owned. The way concerns were handled by Sean and his business partner was the same -- often dismissive or belittling rather than professional and accountable. I also referred several teammates in good faith. When issues arose, the disappointment came back to me, which affected my willingness to recommend this business again. Taken together, these weren't isolated mistakes. They reflected a pattern of poor competence, poor follow-through, and poor customer treatment. Buyers deserve professionalism, availability, and basic mechanical diligence -- especially during race season. Based on my experience, those standards were not met.

He was knowledgeable about my old bike and put it in racing condition for my daughter. He'll be back for a tune up before the season is up...or if she breaks something

Where do I begin? My wife purchased an adult trike for my daughter last May from here. She is…read moresuffering from post-concussion syndrome so we didn't think a two-wheeler was appropriate at this time. My wife originally purchased a bike at Wal-Mart but Sam, the owner, convinced her NOT to buy there because you'll just be a number and it'll take forever to get parts and we won't get that personal service. That part comes in handy later in the story. Incidentally, the bike was $800 retail. We get the bike May of 2019. Daughter loves it. Takes it everywhere. She's 9. By August there is an issue with the back left wheel. When she stops pedalling it slowly comes to a halt. Never happened before. Certainly didn't ship that way. In order to coast she had to pedal constantly. I take it back. Takes 2 weeks but they tell me it's fixed. The Fall comes around and there's no other issues. Mid-May of 2020 the weather is warm enough to break out the bikes. The problem persists. She stops pedalling, the bike stops. So I take it back again. Now remember, fitting an adult trike into an SUV is no small feat. I explain the issue. They should be aware of it. It's been in the shop twice in the first year. He has to order the part. I get it. Things take time. They had the bike 6 weeks - 6 WEEKS!! I called 3 times to enquire and was made to feel like i was a pain in the ass each time. One time I called and the woman didn't put me on hold and I heard her enquire about the status of the blue adult trike. Sam's reply could clearly be heard across the shop floor "He'll get it when it's done." I called last night and miraculously it's done today. 6 WEEKS LATER! I'm awoken to a call from him tell me a sob story about how he worked late last night and he's only going to charge me for labour. Like he's doing me a solid. After having the bike for 6 weeks he's doing me the honour of only charging me labour on a bike that should still be under warranty. He tells me the supplier is out of business. Honestly, not my problem. Choose your suppliers a little more carefully. I walk in, spin the tires - it's NOT FIXED! Exact same issue. I tell him it's unacceptable. Clearly doesn't give two shits. Blames COVID-19. I tell him I should have taken it to Main Cycle in Hamilton. He tells me maybe I should have and starts motioning me to the door. Granted, I went off the rails a tad and dropped a few F bombs but like i said earlier, this is completely unacceptable. Sam kept saying "what do you want me to do?" I want you fix it to my satisfaction is what i want you to do. You own a bike shop, not me. I always do my best to support local businesses. The economic benefits to the surrounding community are countless. It's business 101, really. But in this instance we would have been much better off buying from a faceless monolith corporation. They would have replaced the whole bike - TWICE. Suffice to say, I will not be back. And I strongly urge you to heed my warning when i say BUYER BEWARE!

The owner, Sam, took the time and effort to fit me to the proper frame size and made sure that everything was to my liking. He truly cares about my satisfaction! I've never seen someone as passionate as Sam about the product he sells. That to me is true value and with every penny I spend. He also provides services for all bikes so it's reassuring to know that I have somewhere to go for all my biking needs. Thank you, Sam, for an amazing customer experience!

All my tune-ups at Pedalinx were professionally done. Pedalinx service has always been friendly and great. Getting the tune-up this year was complicated by Covid 19; demand for bike tune-ups this year went through the roof. I had to wait more than a month for my scheduled tune-up. But the shop did a fantastic tuneup job on my dura ace road bike, and in 1 day! Pedalinx is one of the best bike shops.

One of the two gentlemen, with whom I spoke, was also very polite and friendly. However, I visited this location because of a specific bike they had advertised on sale and when they showed me the bike, I immediately noticed it was not as advertised. They had switched out the front shocks, tires, and shifters for lower end components which were not the components advertised on their website. For all I know, they may have downgraded other components as well that I didn't take the time to notice. While it is possible this was simply a mistake in advertising, I find it a little "fishy". When I asked if they could replace the original components, they made it clear that was not possible so I wonder what happened to those high end components. In any event, I walked out without the bike as it was simply not as advertised. As a result, I doubt I will return in the future. I definitely plan to warn my riding buddies and caution them against buying a bike from Pedalinx.
