I am never disappointed by the food, it's usually their service which leaves a lot to be desired. They are right around the corner from us so usually because of location we go there. However after this time we might take a break for a while from Gianna's. Our pizza that we ordered was supposed to be half and half. When we got it, it was only one half of what we ordered. We immediately called them back and unfortunately we did not encounter good customer service. We were the ones who had to bring the pizza back and wait for another one. But when we ate to the thick crust, it was doughy and barely heated. Called the manager who refused to give his name at my request. Said too many toppings create the water which soaks the dough and ergo prevents the dough from being fully cooked. He then offered me for $10.00 off the next pizza I would order. Be careful giving Gianna's pizza any of your information. Accounts get mixed up and your information will be provided to the wrong customer. If you call to inquire about the mix up they will tell you different stories and then hang up on you. Your name and address is provided to incorrect customers even printed on the other person receipt. There is way too much identity theft for these types of mix up to be so careless. You may get an apology after begging for one. I asked for my name to be blocked for other customers and they offered to block my number for future purchases. Wow what a great way to keep a customer. This is not a sit down restaurant. They have a counter with about 4 stools right in front where they make all the pizza. That being said, I really liked the vibe in this place. One wall is completely covered in Chicago history memorabilia. The lady who helped us provided first class customer service and was quite engaging as well. She was very curious about the mehndi my friend was wearing and asked about it. After we had put the order in, my friend and I we're craving some soda and decided to split one. The cherry on top was when we asked our hostess for a coke and she gave it to us for free. I realize how cheap soda is but we truly appreciated the gesture! Now, about the food, because who cares about me droning on about good customer service ;) We got the veggie stuffed crust with spinach, peppers, and onions. I would give this pie a solid 8 out of 10 in my opinion. The balance of flavors was on point; the sauce was delicious; and the ingredients fresh. I was out in town visiting and was headed back out when my mother in law requested that we bring a deep dish pizza back. This place was the closest we could find on our way out. When I first walked in a guy was at the register looking down doing something on the register, never looked up but said "be with you in 1 second", I stood there for a minute or so and he said nothing else while doing whatever he was doing. I followed the prompts and even selected a flavor. When my order arrived no pop was sent. I called Gianna's and spoke with the manager, Jesus. When I attempted to express my concern I was interrupted. He told me that I had to say that I wanted the pop. I am going to preface this by saying that we have ordered pizza from here before and it went off without a hitch. Tonight was a very disappointing and shocking turn of events. I am home with my children and ordered a pizza for dinner through Grubhub. 70 min later (not a problem for great pizza) a driver called me to say he was downstairs at my building and needed me to come out to him. I obviously couldn't do this with two small children running around. I asked him to ring the buzzer for our door. He stated that he wouldn't do that or bring the pizzas into the building. Now I get this may be a policy that I'm not aware of, however I've talked to a manager there before and he said the policy was delivery to the door. I would not have placed an order for $80 worth of pizza with tip and delivery fee if I had known this was the case. I called the manager who was completely rude and condescending who said that no matter what had been done before this was what they were doing tonight. I explained the situation and she was still quite rude gave me the number to Grubhub to take it up with them and then hung up on me. As a 18 year vet of the service industry I can state unequivocally that this was an appalling lack of professionalism and curtesy. There are a million pizza places (most cheaper and faster) in this city. We chose this place due to its food quality in the past, but there is no excuse for this kind of break down to the basic steps of service. We will never be ordering from here again and will be discouraging everyone we know or come in contact with from giving their hard earned money to this joke of an establishment. I love this place...they service my area, are generally very efficient and have taken my order 40minutes before close. One day, I ordered a pizza with various veggie toppings (think bell peppers) and a bowl of the minestrone. Before the pizza arrived I fell ill. My stomach was tipsy turvy and I knew there was no way I'd want to consume that spicy pizza. The minestrone CAME THRU! Talking about it soothed my soul. I fell right to sleep.
