We booked this tour last minute as a walk up. The front office was very friendly and helpful. My son selected a ghost tour, and we really enjoyed it. Our tour guide was Courtney. She was great. The tour was a great balance of history, current information and ghost discussion. The previous night we did a walking tour with another company which we enjoyed, but this tour was our favorite because we saw more and learned more history by being in the van and getting around town. Our favorite stop was in the cemetery. Courtney had great information about everything and especially the cemetery. The stories were so fascinating. If you enjoy history and dark tales, you wouldn't want to miss this tour! The tour operator was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the town, history and ghostly haunts. They give everyone an EMF reader, flashlight and provide a radio scanner to try to talk to the ghosts. They take you to several places around town, which was fun. What was a 2 hour tour expanded to almost 3, which was great (with an opportunity to opt out sooner if desired). The only negative (and reason for 4 instead of 5 star) was that one person didn't show up so he had to do double duty with a haunted tour and the history tour. He accomplished it with aplomb. Also, we weren't able to go into some of the buildings because they were either not available for safety, due to the holiday or because they're still negotiating with the owners. My wife and I spontaneously decided to join up with a tour and ended up having such a great time. One of the few ghost tours that had the perfect balance of sharing the history of the town and places you visited while also telling you about actual ghost stories to keep things spooky. This was my second tour in Jerome but first with Ghost Town Tours. My friends and I took a Friday afternoon tour with Taylor and it was a blast! Taylor, a local, took us around to Liberty theatre and some other local artesian shops/locals all the while divulging facts and stories. The glass blowing shop was fun and Taylor gave amazing details and funny anecdotes. Taylor promised that if we returned on a Monday, he'd have fresh pierogi's he and his wife make. My fiance (Stuart) and I came out here on my birthday (9/30/17). He doesn't believe in the paranormal, but he knows I'm fascinated by it from experiences I've had as a child. Any who! We booked an evening ghost hunting tour with Scott. First, let me say, I loved Scott! Before the tour started, he got to know Stuart and I. He asked what we did for a living, where we are from, and what we were interested getting from the tour. I appreciated him making connections to our lives with the history and activity on the tour. Another plus to having a tour with Scott is that he shared the history of the town while we were ghost hunting. Really cool! As far as experiences I had on the tour... Yes I was lucky enough to have a couple! While in the cemetery, I had the spirit box and an EMF at the same time. I walked off away from the group because other members had been drinking and I wanted the real deal experience. I asked some questions, no response. Then I asked, "can you understand me?" Clear as day a male voice came through and said "I do". The EMF started going off at the same time when it was steady just moments before! The others experiences I had were orbs in pictures, what I thought was someone poking the back of my head in the school auditorium, and feeling heavier in the music room in the basement. We were really looking forward to doing this tour. Based on the reviews we had high hopes for a fun ghost tour. Our appointment was for 8pm and we got a call about an hour or so prior asking us if they can "upgrade" us to the 8:30, 1.5hour tour instead. Sure, sounds great. One of the people in the group asks the guide if he believes in ghosts and he says he doesn't... great way to start a ghost tour. The tour consisted of them giving us meters and things that kept turning off and having us just roam the streets to find ghosts ourselves. We weren't allowed to go inside of anything and the guide kept forgetting facts about the town. The guide didn't have any personality and obviously doesn't know how to run a tour. It would have been so much cheaper to just buy a book on the town and a ghost box and walking the town alone with our group instead of paying for this tour. read more

So much knowledge, both about the history and the people/current residence of the town. This was one of the best ghost tours I have been on. They have electronic equipment, just like in the Ghost Hunters series. I definitely recommend Ghost Town Tours when you're in Jerome! I would absolutely take another tour with them. We took the Haunted History Tour which was a mix of shuttle and some light/moderate walking and climbing. The pricing was a little steep but we took advantage of an online discount and it was worth the price. I loved to ha e the option of a late night tour so we were touring from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. We were provided with EMF readers but it was more of a novelty. Taylor the tour guide was fantastic. My girlfriend and I did the Ghost Adventure tour last night. Overall it was fun. My favorite parts were when we were given historical backgrounds about the areas in which we were hunting ghosts. In retrospect, I would probably have enjoyed a straight up historical tour so long as it had the gruesome stories in it (and would have traded that for the ghost hunting parts). But hey, it is Halloween time, so I suppose it's good to get your spook on. You will be given a couple pieces of equipment. One is an EMF meter and the other is a spirit box, like the kind you see on Ghost Adventures on the travel channel. The EMF meter never picked up anything unless I held my phone near it (proving that it at least works), but the spirit box produced different results, so read on... I am a complete skeptic and remain to be after the tour, however, I did have a couple interesting moments that made me take a step back, if only for a moment or two. All of those moments had to do with using the spirit box. It cycles through radio frequencies and outputs white noise. You'll often hear snippets of actual radio content here and there (music or vocals from different stations). In one particular area, I broke away from the group and started asking questions in the darkness (like who is here with me, what's your name, etc...). On a couple of occasions, I did hear what sounded like responses that occurred in a timely fashion to my questions. At one point I heard the name "Ann" in response to asking "what is your name". The strange thing about that is that earlier, you are given some history about a person named Ann Hopkins. During the talk about that, I was distracted by a lot of the Halloween partying happening around us, so did not catch the name of the person the story was about. Later when I told my girlfriend that I thought something responded with "Ann", she thought I was making it up (because I do tend to be a joker). Honest truth is, this had nothing to do with the story from before because like I said, I totally tuned out at that part of the tour. I was drawing no line between what I thought I heard and the story from earlier (unless it was on some subconscious level). So yeah, that was kinda weird... The likely explanation in my mind is that when you hear what you think are snippets of responses, you are likely only picking up chatter from radio stations and when the timing is right, one believes it is a response. But in a couple cases, it seemed a little strange. Still not a believer, but it was fun and makes you wonder, if only for a moment. My girlfriend tried and did not have any luck. All of this happened in the old red light district (the one uphill). My only complaint is that I'd like to be able to explore more indoor locations. Perhaps there is more of that on other tours. The only indoor location was an old Catholic Church. It was dark and creepy inside, but a bodiless bust of Jesus that revealed itself to me when I ran my flashlight over it freaked me out more than any potential ghosts. Overall, it was a very good time and I would recommend it. Even if you are a skeptic like myself. read more

I'd like to start off by saying Jerome AZ is no joke. I've heard a lot of stories about the paranormal activities around this town so I had to see for myself. Took the 10:30pm tour with Miranda who was fantastic. She had a lot of knowledge about the history of the town and told us some pretty interesting stories. So needless to say I was very excited to see what I would come across. After walking they the cemetery as our first stop we had some pretty good activity on our spirit boxes, and lot of dense cold spots which were easy to feel in the warm AZ air so that was cool. Then we went to the old HS where things really picked up. A completely different vibe. As you walk in the front door in just feels eerie. Miranda told us a great story of a door closing and locking her in which got us all jumpy. Now after about an hour of walking around and having some fun little experiences I thought naturally I should be taking as many photos/videos as I could. I got a lot of pictures of orbs and video of the spirit box of a guy shouting "girls" which we all heard which was also a response of a question so it was definitely an intelligent ghost who's name is 'Wade'. Then after looking a little closer to some of my pictures I found one that we all look forward to capturing. It looks as if a man is standing behind another investigator peeking around a doorway checking us out. My partner and I decided to try this on our 14th Anniversary day trip to Jerome. I'm pretty skeptical. I had low expectations. But went with an open mind and just went for the enjoyment. I read the other reviews and decided it was still a fun thing to do. (Used a groupon and paid $62 for a two hour tour for both of us. Our tour guide, Shane, was pleasant, informative and we enjoyed his stories...he even enjoyed my partner's. We roughly visited five places with a few stories inbetween. Granted there was no "mine" to visit, and was went inside one building. That didn't bother me, though it would have been nice to include something else "inside" as opposed to standing outside. We each had an EMF reader and he had other equipment. At one point, Shane got a shock and both of use got goosebumps and chills at exactly the same time with subsequent "voices" from his equipment. It was a little freaky. Overall, perhaps a little pricey for the experience, but still give it five stars for the fun evening. (And we tipped well) Though I read the other reviews from a few years ago that basically bashed a specific tour guide, we enjoyed the experience and the tour guide, we got exactly what we expected with a few chills on top. If you expect to see ghostly creatures floating past you, you may be disappointed. If you expect a pleasant, entertaining and informative tour, you won't be disappointed. read more

We took this tour with high expectations and sad to say our group was highly disappointed. Mainly because we had a really awkward and uncomfortable encounter with one of the employees of Ghost Town tours. Our group was a bit early for the tour, so we decided to walk around to kill some time. We became acquainted with one of the town locals and he joined us in our little time-killer walk. Upon being by what they call the "Sliding Jail" this guy Kenny from Ghost Town tours starts running his mouth to the gentlemen we became acquainted with for no good reason! Kenny was unaware that we were taking his tour in an hr. This guy acted as if he was the owner of the town and people needed permission to walk around. He was completely rude, unprofessional, and his attitude was unnecessary. Our group wanted to cancel, but really couldn't. We would be out money if we cancelled, you need to provide a 24-hr. notice. So we decided to take the tour anyways. Kenny looked a bit shocked to see us when we arrived and acted like a totally different person toward us. He was super nice to us, nothing like he acted an hour ago. The tour was very informative and our guide was very knowledgeable. Our guide really knows how to tell good stories and the histories behind Jerome. As mentioned in another review, you look at haunted buildings from inside a van, however you do get off to see one spot by foot. You get out the van to see the "Sliding Jail", I guess Kenny is trying to scare locals away from the only spot he can really show off and act like he owns it. If you want to have an amazing ghost experience, book a room at the Grand Hotel and do the tour there. Our group did both and the Grand won by a landslide. The atmosphere feels historic, spooky, and the staff is so amazing beyond belief! read more

What a great tour! Our tour guide Brandon was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Jerome and it's fascinating past. What made this stand out from the other tours I've taken in Jerome is how much the tour guide really loved the town and it's history, down to details. Even though we were ghost hunting and had meters, the best part was the walking tour and getting to see the places and hear the stories of how rough the town was in the past and all the death that took place back in the early 1900's. If you are a history buff, this tour will satisfy your curiosity and leave with amazing stories, and if you are a spirit chaser, this will give you enough fodder to make you want to explore the dark corners, alleys and dilapidated buildings in search of any lost souls that may be lingering. read more
