It would be remiss to call a major college social hub a great campus hangout without a solid pizza…read morejoint. Now, Bulldog Plaza -- already home to a variety of highly rated and diverse eateries, including authentic Thai Taste and quick-service spots like Sushi 'n Pop, China Station, and Tacos Marquitos -- can add a worthy pizzeria to its lineup.
All the positive reviews piqued my interest, as I am always on the hunt for another great pizza spot. I decided to try the combination pizza, topped with traditional sauce and mozzarella cheese along with salami, pepperoni, linguica, Italian sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, and olives.
The pizza was good -- solid, satisfying, though not particularly memorable. The sauce was tangy and well-balanced, the cheese was generously layered, and the toppings were evenly distributed in a harmonious mix. The crust was dense, crisp, golden-brown, and pleasantly free of excess grease on the bottom.
I was especially impressed by the size of the large combination pizza. Each pie measures about 14 inches and is cut into roughly 12 slices. At $25, it felt reasonably priced considering the generous toppings and substantial crust.
The highlight of the pizza was the sauce: vibrant, fresh, and slightly sweet, providing a welcome counterpoint to the richness of the cheese and the heaviness of the meat toppings.
Bulldog Plaza was already the perfect pit stop for Fresno State students, staff, and Red Wave sports fans looking for a quick bite without leaving the immediate campus area. Now, with the addition of this standout pizza joint, it has become even better.
