I've gone on this ride many times but not during October (I think). It's basically Space Mountain but for Halloween, it's called Ghost Galaxy. The line is long but if you have the Fast Pass, the wait is very short. ::Experience:: It was really dark inside and the ride was super fast!! The ghost images were not scary but it might be if you have a little one. I remember riding this when I was younger (really young) the speed of the ride is definitely faster!! It was fun not knowing what to expect since it was so dark. I liked the outer space/flaming ghost theme, sharp turns, speed, cool breeze, and the duration of the ride. As you exit, you can view your picture and see what facial expression you had during the ride lol! ::Tips:: -Get the Fast Pass -Put away your hat, glasses, and Minnie Mouse Ears, etc. or you'll never see it again. read more

Ghosts swirling all around you now I don't know what to do and I don't know how to feel inside I wish I could see deeper into the into the depths of this ghostly ride everything I do everywhere I go I'm seeing ghosts! Space Mountain full of ghosts is a totally radical adventure through this awesome space case the sights the sounds and just all around ride is what's good at D! Definitely make it a point to ride the Ghost version during the Halloween season! Once in a wile you get to see what the real depths of space are if it breaks down during this past visit we stopped close to the bottom where the last turn is we chilled there for a few minutes until two Cast Members came out and grabbed the side of the train to give us a running start and got us rolling fast enough to coast through the curve into the tunnel and out through the station only to be given another ride right then due to the delay! It's always a fun ride that's super smooth and just an all around awesome coaster every time I will always look forward to my next ride on Ghost Galaxy or Space Mountain! read more

Ok Space Mountain or known as Ghost Galaxy for the Halloween holidays so if you know how Space Mountain is it's really no different other than the music and the images which were really cool. For the Halloween season I say this is a must to see you won't be disappointed. Don't forget to get the fast pass and show up on the times listed. Absolutely terrible that there isn't a prominent warning that the content may be too scary for little kids. ( think 5 year olds that make the height restriction) This is not a ride for small children. If your let your children watch movies like SAW or Insidious then this ride probably isn't a big deal . Not knowing the content of this experience I made a terrible mistake taking my daughter on "Space Mountain" ooops Ghost Galaxy as her first roller coaster ever. This new horror experience is basically a pitch black ride with an "Iron Maiden's Eddie" like skeleton trying to get you. Needless to say she left crying and scared to go on any other rides. Thanks Disney.. More suited for Teens and Adults.. - As a follow up, I took my other daughter ( now as 5) on the Hyper Space Mountain and that was better.. No scary monsters trying to kill on you that one. read more

I love non-Halloween Space Mountain so I was super excited to finally experience the Ghost Galaxy rendition. We went directly there after getting to the park, just to find it not-quite-ready to open. We instituted a go on another ride and then check back at Space Mountain system and lucked out with only a 20 minute wait. We also picked up Fast Passes so we could go again later. Both my honey and I agreed that we didn't expect the ride to be as creepy/scary as it is. I also liked, with the different soundtrack, that I didn't know what was coming ride wise. read more

The ride is fun, fits the Halloween theming, it's more "scary" than typical Disney fare and definitely pushes their boundaries. It's also got great music and a nice green glowing queue. To the people complaining that there isn't a warning for little kids, there literally is one at the front of the ride, right there on the sign. Also, look at the artwork and judge for yourself. For those who don't get the "story", it's just spooky and Dolores the ghost is chasing you. It's Disneyland, it's not that deep. read more

Great ride! Ghost galaxy is a fun twist to the normal Space Mountain. Projections are changed to be ghost themed. I love that there's a ride picture you can preview at the end (and snap a picture of with your phone for free!). Even the picture at the end has a special "ghost galaxy" overlay with the year on it. Wait times can be long, but I love running over to the ride as soon as the fireworks conclude to minimize wait time. If you wear glasses, make sure to tuck them into your bag. The ride has a lot of jerks and can potentially make your glasses go flying! read more

Best holiday overlay at the park, in my opinion. True, the overlay doesn't change the ride at all, but I love what they did with the graphics. The eyeballs! The creepy ghost-type dude tracking your car as you go flying through the dark! The cracks of light and the interference! The music! It all adds so much to the ride, which I was not expecting. I think they could do a bit more to tie the ride graphics in to the graphics you're seeing as you wait in line, but that's not a big deal. I'm glad they focused on changing up what you experience on the ride itself, and if they want to go back this year to change up what you're seeing in line, I'd be just fine with that, too. =) read more

This is a great seasonal take on Space Mountain. Sometimes the projections light up the track which kinda spoils the ride a tad for me, but that's fine. I also love the projections they do on the outside of the ride at night. I often find myself just watching that in the evening. Disney does a great job of creating an atmosphere for this ride. read more

It's that time of year again where Disneyland gets a Halloween overlay. Space Mountain is transformed into Ghost Galaxy. There are new visuals and music added to the existing ride. It's still one of the best rides in the park. You still ride it mostly in the dark but it's supposed to be scarier. Well not really because nothing at Disney is scary. Still an enjoyable ride. I'm surprised that this is the second year for this attraction and yet no one has added it until now. For those who don't know, Disney has decided to modify Space Mountain for the month of October and it has been rechristened Ghost Galaxy. The major change is that instead of being treated to the standard starry visuals on this coaster, there are now video screens set up inside which project images of a green, ghostly galaxy that chases you as you wind around the circuit. The real shocker - for me, at least - is that this is genuinely scary stuff. Seriously, kids will be chilled when they see and hear this demonic mass of stardust chasing them. Now, I don't know if Disney is going cheap this year (shocker!) or if they reserve this for the weekends, but the line queue gets an amazing show. Well, at least it did last year. The white dome on top of the ride glows green, purple, blue and white (if you've ever done mushrooms, prepare for flashbacks) before unleashing a blood-curdling howl while thunderous sounds accompany an image of the nefarious ghost galaxy attempting to smash it's way out. This was VERY cool last year, but this year all the dome did was glow different colors a few times before ceasing all activity completely. But if you are lucky enough to catch the full show, it makes the lengthy wait time go by much quicker. read more

Let me begin by stating that Space Mountain is my favorite ride at Disneyland and I ride it quite often, up to 12 times in one visit! However, the Ghost Galaxy transformation seems to change your overall experience. The best part is the beginning in which you journey into complete darkness and it feels like you are floating. This is because you cannot see where you are going and it's such a smooth ride. Soon after, an angry ghost appears and gets all highfalutin on you and it's like he sends out all of the gods to warn you! The downfall of the Ghost Galaxy transformation is that you can see the television screens in which the images are projected. This throws people off because dang-it, Disney is the best when it comes to special effects! Other than that, the ride is still a lot of fun. I just with that the creative minds at Disney would find a way to hide the appearance of the television screens so that this does not detract the guests attention away from the special effects. read more

Honestly, I've never been as gung ho about Space Mountain as others always seem to be. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun ride, but it just lacks a bit of excitement for me. When we heard that Space Mountain was themed for Halloween, my fella and I figured we'd give it a try. To be fair, my fella doesn't have the best track record with this ride. I guess the combination of darkness and speed doesn't agree with his tummy, but he was adament about trying Ghost Galaxy. The ride doesn't undergo as drastic a makeover as the holiday versions of Haunted Mansion and It's a Small World, but it's still a fun ride. There are scary images jumping out of the darkness all over and I definitely prefer Ghost Galaxy to the regular version of the ride. I'm also happy to report that my fella felt fine after this version. read more

I'm going to go against the grain on this one. Which isn't too much against any grain since it's not like I suddenly hate this ride once it becomes the Halloween season, but Ghost Galaxy just adds a level of cheese to this ride that doesn't sit very well with me. The wonderful thing about space mountain is the darkness. Seeing a giant floating colorful worm hole as you go up the ramp sort of takes a little bit away from it - especially when it's suppose to be some monster that chases you through a slightly less dark space simulation. The clincher on why I think this is just over the top silliness? The last part of it when it takes your picture. You're basically photographed with a floating head of a space ghost. And I don't mean the cool Space Ghost from Adult Swim. I mean, some giant strange looking thing that EVERYONE PUNCHES AT. Just look at the pictures of others on the ride. Everyone throws a punch at the image of this giant space douche. Besides, everyone knows that the cooler alternative to this ride was when they had it set to go with the Red Hot Chili Peppers song. read more

Fun yearly update to space mountain for Halloween.

WOOOHOOOOOOOOooo AAAAAAAAHHHHHH! Space Mountain is brightened up (a tad bit.. normally it's so dark you can't see a darn thing except the "stars" of mirrored disco balls) because now they have projectors / screens appearing with the Ghost of the Galaxy following you around.. well.. not following, more like, chasing you around. I always get a good thrill from this ride during this time of year. It's fantastic! and this year, they added more ghoulish surprises! I also love the Mountain on the exterior. Disney projects light/visuals + sounds of the ghost attempting to escape the mountain and it's very awesome. :D This ride is a must for me everytime I visit DL! read more

Maybe I had high expectations, but I was disapointed with Ghost Galaxy. Checking out the Halloween version of Disneyland for the first time, and after just riding the Night Before Christmas Haunted Mansion, I was expecting ghosts and ghouls flying at me on a completely transformed Space Mountain. However, what I got was what appeared to be the standard Space Mountain with some projected "scary" images on screens I could clearly see. Furthermore, I was sitting in the back of the car and was met with blaring "scary" music in my ear. And this was all after about a 2 hour wait. My first time going to Disneyland for the Halloween decor was just yesterday! So based on sites and yelp, Ghost Galaxy was a must for Halloween. I personally don't really prefer Space Mountain because the twists and turn in the dark make me slightly carsick.. motion sick... roller coaster sick. However since this will probably be one of the very few Halloweens I'd be able to visit Dland, I decided I must go. Holy crap. I was pretty scared because I had no idea how long the ride was (endlesss anxiety), the music and the howling added to my tension, I don't do well with scary and also sitting by my lonesome made me feel so alone in the dark. conclusion: I'm a straight up pansy and hearing a boy cry his heart out after the ride made me want to cry along too. I think the ride was mainly scary for me because I had no idea about the duration of the ride, not being able to see what's ahead, and also not remembering how the ride is like (it's been years!) read more

Uh, what am I missing? So it's Space Mountain with something projected in various spots during the ride. Ghosts? Spirits? Catholic Guilt? It wasn't scary but more puzzling as we tried to figure out what the hell it was they were trying to accomplish here. My kids who usually love stuff like this were even bored. OK this ride is pretty cool and more frightening than I thought possible. I mean, it's disneyland, so you expect the happy treat or trick kids ride....well this is not that. This is a ride I would expect at six flags or universal studios. It's sad that is only here for the Halloween season because despite having a pass for the last few years, this was the first chance that I got to ride this...and it did no take disappoint. We got there early on a weekday with a 10 min wait. We fast passed it and went directly in line. The first time the speakers weren't on, but I didn't think they would keep the regular ride music so it the experience was still really cool. The special effects of the ghost is really amazing. It really did scare me!!!! We went on it again about an hr later and the music was back up. The music went really well with the ghosts' actions and added to the ride experience. I definitely want to do this ride again and recommend hitting it early because I know I was definitely lucky enough to ride it twice in one day without any major issues and wait times. read more

it's like Space Mountain but you are followed by ghosts and skeletons through the galaxy ...hence ghost galaxy! so much fun! my 5 year old daughter claims to be scared on the ride...but i don't buy it, she is laughing hysterically throughout the ride..then when it's done says "i didnt' like it...it scared me". my 7 year old LOVES it!!! and I LOVE IT!! wish they would extend it through Xmas (like haunted holiday mansion)...but i get that it is only halloween theme and not halloween/xmas...maybe they can open it earlier??? not gonna happen...so i'll be happy with the time i get. i'll make it back once more before it's gone this year read more

The original Space Mountain gets three stars from me, it's neat but I'm not thrilled by it. Ghost Galaxy on the other hand adds the spice that Space Mountain is missing and turns it into an awesome ride. Those little additions make it so much more fun to scream and hollar with people... Doesn't live up to the hype. Great ride, great theme, but Ghost Galaxy doesn't work. When I rode Ghost Galaxy for the first time, I thought, " There are tv screens in here?" It just doesn't seem like all that much compared to the regular ride and the holiday-themed Haunted Mansion. Decent but I like regular, ol' Space Mountain much better. read more

This was my first time riding ghost Galaxy, I have only rode space mountain, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. As my husband and I were getting closer, I was getting the jumpy stomach and sweaty nervous palms, but I was ready to ride. When it was our turn, I started doing the nervous bounce, but there were two young kids behind me and I wasn't about to look like a scardy cat in front of them. The ride started and I felt better, the first ghost reached out and, yes, I screamed! My husband and I were laughing the entire time. At the end of the ride we were laughing and saying how fun it was. I can't wait to ride it again, we had a blast. Disclaimer-I had a little headache before we walked over to the ride, so I decided to take some aspirin and take a huge drink of something. I don't recommend that, I did feel a little queasy after but it was worth it! read more
