We got chips and salsa, which were surprisingly spicy, the guacamole had a bit of a cake to it. It was great. The quesadillas were good as well, heavy on the oil. This is not my typical cuisine so it didn't blow me away by any means, but it was good food at a good price. Our server did a great job, taking care of our party of 10! Knowing this was a bachelorette party, she unprompted brought us a free round of shots, which was much appreciated! We came in on a Sunday night for drinks and left feeling underwhelmed. I loved the vibe of the place and think it would be a lot of fun on a weekend night. We arrived around 9:15 (those closed at 10) and were immediately told they would be closing at 10 and could only do one drink. When we ordered the bartender made reference to having already put everything away and needing to get it back out. She also said anything with egg whites was not available. Immediately, the feeling was we were unwelcome. We ordered a couple of drinks and went outside, then were reminded again by the outdoor waitress they would be closing soon. We came to the bar after we bowled "next door". I first heard speakeasy, so I thought of a secret entrance but it was just a regular door that we walked through. But I will say that they had a really cool ambiance, especially with the lights on the ceiling, and they had a cool donkey statue as well. The drinks were unique and a little overwhelming. But our waitress helped provide recommendations. They also had a huge list of different types of tequila and whiskeys if you wanted to do something exotic . I had a mid shelf tequila on the rocks that was very good.And I also had one of their whiskey cocktails that was also quite tasty once I got past some of the ingredients. It is a great place to reserve, because it has its own bar and plenty of seating. But you definitely want to eat before you get there because they do not have a food menu. read more

Ghost Donkey is the cutest place for a girls night out any weekend. It is one of my go-to spots for cute pictures, pretty drinks, and good conversations with my friends. The ambiance is almost sultry, in a fun and colorful way. The theme is very cute, and we loved the mini donkeys we got in our drinks. The drinks were okay, not the best cocktails we had of the night, but maybe next time we will try another off the menu. The bartender was very sweet and chatted with us, also giving recs on the drinks since she knew they would be cute for pics! Ive never been much of a fan of tequila but Ghost Donkeys tequila cocktail selection is superb. The ambience is also quite inviting and the staff clearly love their job. Great place to hang with a group of friends or bring a date with for drinks and bowling at champagne lanes afterwards. read more

Came here for late night drinks on the weekend. Inside is dark but vibrant lighting and cool tables in the corners for small groups. Outdoor patio is a nice feel with fire pits, tables and some patio couch seating. We had drinks and small bites. I had high expectations for my Mezcal Sun-risa but instead of being spicey and smokey, it was very sweet and lacked alcohol. Some of the other drinks at the tables were better, but overall, cocktails were just okay. Service was quick and everyone was pleasant! Also strange to be patted down and searched before entering the bar, I felt like I was in Los Angeles, not Omaha...but maybe they've had issues with weapons. Had my birthday celebration at Ghost Donkey and the experience was excellent. The screened in porch was warm and the big couch was able to seat all my guests. The wait staff was extremely attentive and our foods and drinks came out promptly. There was even a drink that someone did not like and they appreciated the feedback and got them a new one. All the food was so good. We tried the ceviche, carne asada tacos, and carne asada quesadilla. All delicious , the salsa alone wasn't my favorite but it taste good on the food. Food and drinks: We went in after already having dinner, but still decided on getting their delicious quesadillas. The beef was a little greasy, but that's exactly what we wanted at the time. The salsas that they came with were also delicious! For drinks, you can't go wrong with their Palomas - super refreshing! Service was awesome overall; for a Saturday night, it was extremely crowded, but our waitress did a wonderful job of making sure everyone got their drinks in a fast manner. Ghost Donkey in Omaha has my heart. This bar has an exquisite energy with lights, fun decor, and a well furnished outdoor seating area. The range of mezcals is fabulous! Since spending a stint of time in Oaxaca City, I've craved a thoughtful mezcal menu and this genuinely put me over the moon. The staff was friendly and helped recommend some popular options for my tastes (herbal, spiced) and offered me their different types of salts for accompaniment. Personally, if I have an option of a good Mezcal, I'm simply sipping straight! My friends tried different cocktails. The fun garnishes such as a rubber donkey were little crowd pleasers for sure. My friends did not all enjoy their drinks, and that is a risk that you take when trying a more niche type of bar with unique options. Everyone DID enjoy the opportunity to try new mixtures and feel adventurous with their beverages! Some people stuck to simple strawberry margaritas, and if you aren't feeling adventurous, something classic will always do. This bar gives off a speakeasy vibe for sure. There's no big sign outside or anything. If you're a tequila lover, this place should definitely be on your list, but even if you're not (like me) you'll still find the drinks pretty enjoyable. I tried the Vodka Mami and even though it had a bit of a smoky, poblano kick that I didn't expect I ended up enjoying it. The ambiance is amazing, I walked in and was instantly transported. The ceiling lights up, creating a cool atmosphere. There's also plenty of seating so it's a great spot for a group hangout. And the outdoor patio is HUGE with heaters to keep things cozy even on chilly nights. Even though I'm not a big tequila fan, I'll definitely be back. This is a great new spot in Omaha right in Old Market and I'm very excited it's here after visiting recently! The location is great, right in the center of everything and convenient downtown, with a parking garage in the building and street parking all around. You enter Ghost Donkey through Cham Pang Lanes, which is also a great new spot. Ghost Donkey, unlike Cham Pang Lanes, is a bar that's always 21+. The interior is beautiful, with cool lights on the ceiling and all around. I love the donkey front and center with the cool candles around it! I love the variety of drinks on the menu and spirits available. I ordered the Paloma, which was delicious and refreshing. They also have a small menu with bites such as tacos and chips, etc. Online, they even have a gluten sensitive menu if that is of interest to you or anyone in your group! They also have a happy hour menu, making this great for an early stop or after work with friends. There's plenty of seating, with booths, high tops, the bar, and some standing room. In nice weather, the patio is also adorable. The servers were all super nice! With the louder music (at least when I was there) and the lights, this place has a fun and upbeat vibe for a great night out with a group or as a pair! My husband and I came here for drinks before a show at the Orpheum and it was a great time. We didn't stay for long, just a couple of drinks and an appetizer, but it was still fun. The cocktails were delicious and the happy hour nachos were pretty good too. The vibe was very chic- I loved the decor and overall theme of the place. I was sitting in the patio and all of a sudden, it began to rain. Luckily, the patio has an automatic covering to protect from the sides and roof of the patio, so there was no issue at all. If I could give a zero score, I would. I understand that this establishment has only been open for a month and I keep things like that in mind when experiencing new places. I would have been more than patient with waiting, if it was busy, but that was not the case with my experience this evening. My husband and I were really excited to try this location. We had been to the one in Auckland, New Zealand and had a fabulous experience. We couldnt wait to try the one close to home. When we walked into Cham Pang Lanes we asked how to get to Ghost Donkey. The host pointed to a door at the end of the hall and said sit anywhere, a server will assist you. It was a beautiful day, so most of the guest were sitting outside but we decided to sit inside next to a party of 6 that were already served. We thought perfect, we will take the empty table next to them and most likely have the server assigned to that table. We waited 10+ minutes and NOT a single server acknowledge us or attended to our table. We went on a Thursday night and there were 4 servers workng. Some of them were standing around at the bar. There was also someone that looked like a manger who was setting up a reserved hightop table, they looked over at us, but didn't say anything and walked away. Then the server that was assisting the table next to us, came over to check on them, took an order and walked away. She didn't even acknowledge us at all. The breaking point is when a table of 4 came in and sat at a hightop, not the one that the manager set up, and were immediately served shots. We are very disappointed with our experience at Ghost Donkey. My husband and I are usually the first to try new places, this is one establishment we will not be recommending to our family or friends. read more
