We decided to do a road trip and found this noodle place in a small plaza. The front is decorated with a small noodle cart which I thought was a nice touch. The decor inside was standard and our party was accommodated with no wait time; however, there were a few issues I had that didn't really hit the mark for me. I ordered the Hu Tieu Kho which comes with a noodle bowl with sauce, side veggies, and a bowl of bone broth. The bone broth was extremely bland and I wasn't sure if it was my tastebuds, but everyone in our party said the same thing; it was almost like drinking warm water. The Noodle bowl itself was decent, however I did notice that some items like the Quail eggs, weren't the freshest quality. The sauce for the Hu Tieu wasn't particularly amazing but I wouldn't say it's bad at all, just decent. Service wasn't great nor bad, a few times I had to waive down the waiter just to get some refills on our waters (we were a party of 10). Same thing for the bill whenever we were ready to checkout. However, They were nice enough to move some of the party to another table since the table they gave us was too small. Service here is pretty fast and friendly! I've gone here a few times with my family and there are certain dishes we like from here. Our go-to favorite is the Mi Thập Cẩm, which comes with a lot of different things. I get it as a dry noodle and really like it. Recently, we also tried the Cơm Gà Hải Nam, which comes with half a chicken with rice. The shredded chicken comes mixed with onions and nước mắm (fish sauce). Pretty tasty. I got the mi thap cam and it was decent. The broth was fairly bland and did not live up to the hype I was hearing from my family who are native Californians. I wanted to try this place despite it having only 3.5 star ratings, which actually kinda surprised me as the food was actually delicious! I had Special Egg Noodle Soup which has everything. I like that they were generous with the amount of toppings. The bowl is a little smaller than average, but it was the perfect size for me as I don't really eat that much. Overall I enjoyed it. My BF had Shaken Steak with Pasta. He liked it, although I thought the pasta could've been marinaded a bit more for more flavor. But other than that I thought it was pretty decent. I'm not sure why this restaurant is always so crowded. I came here for lunch and the place was packed. I ordered the Hủ Tiếu Nước Thập Cẩm, and it was nothing special. The portion was disappointing, with very few toppings, mostly just a lot of broth and noodles! The cơm gà wasn't good either. Usually, at other places, cơm gà comes with fried rice that has a nice golden color, good aroma, and well balanced seasoning. But here, they served plain white rice , lacking flavor, I'm not enjoyable. The chicken was also dry. At $19.45, I felt very overpriced for what I got. One is a small and the other a large. I enjoyed it with egg noodles and clear noodles, glad we had the option of mixing it. I have been on a hu tieu kick for the last few weeks. Unfortunately, do to my schedule, my go to spots aren't an option for me when I get off of work. Tonight, I decided to try this spot, and I'm glad I found it. I ordered the Hu Tieu Thap Cam (thap cam includes all the meats, including pig heart, liver, squid, bbq pork, ground pork and shrimp) with bun dai (glass noodles) and a side of wontons, served dry. The broth was light but flavorful, and the toppings were tasty for the most part. I really appreciated the fried pork skins as a topping to add the crunchy texture to the dish. The squid was a bit over cooked and they put too much pork heart for my liking. My biggest critique on the food is the topping/noodle ratio. Came here since they had a variety of dishes and I was craving pho ga while my parents were craving for mi. I love a great pho ga with the ginger fish sauce to dip the chicken with. I saw on the menu that their pho ga had a heart next to it signifying it was one of their top dishes. I decided to give it a try and it was pretty decent. The ginger fish sauce was super flavorful and had a bit of a kick from the fresh peppers. The pho itself was average, but a bit too fatty for my liking. Additionally, the plate of chicken they give to you is actually fresh chopped chicken, but I am more of a white meat fan and they just give you a majority of dark meat with very little actual meat on the pieces. Maybe next time I can ask for just white meat, if they have that as an option. My parents ended up trying the mi kho, and it was actually pretty flavorful. I think I would prefer that dish over the pho next visit, or maybe even try their shaken beef with noodles that several other tables were ordering. I would say this is just the typical Viet spot. 3.5 stars I came here for lunch with my mom on a Monday and boy was it cracking. My mom ordered the #7: mì khô thập cẩm ($15.95 for a large) which is their house specialty. This bowl comes with the works: heart, liver, shrimp, squid, meat, ground beef, quail egg, etc. She liked it, but it was a little heavy with the innards. I ordered the #9: mi hoành thánh, bò viên, thịt ~ egg noodles with wontons, beef balls, and pork ($13.95 for a small). I like eating mine dry so I asked for it khô. Soup comes on the side and in my case, it came with 4 pieces of wonton.the wonton soup flavor was coming in strong, so I enjoyed that. And up until this point, I didn't realize that my bowl was missing the bò viên. Oops. The noodle base to each bowl was fine - not quite memorable. The noodles had a nice chew, but other than that, there wasn't much to them. The presentation was a little sloppy and the small size was v small, so I suggest sizing up. My family and I usually go here when we crave some hu tieu. The hu tieu here is quite authentic and pretty close to what you would get in Vietnam. Hu Tieu Thap Cam (Rice noodle with special toppings) (9/10): I got the dry version (soup on the side) and it was pretty good. The soup was very flavorful. The sauce was also good, which added a nice flavor to the noodle, and there was a decent amount of meat. The noodle was chewy, which I liked. However, it was a bit too dry, which made it kinda hard to pull the noodle apart. Hu Tieu Dui Ga Ro Ti (Rice noodle with fried chicken thigh) (6/10): My girlfriend got this and she didn't really like this. The noodle was dry and clumped together, which made it kinda hard to pull apart. The chicken was dry and not very flavorful. The sauce in the noodle was good but not enough. Com Ga Hai Nam (Hainanese chicken rice) (10/10): I got this to-go. This was surprisingly good. Both the rice and chicken were super flavorful, and cooked well. The chicken was also very juicy. The dipping sauce went really well with the dish. Xi Quach (stewed pork bones) (9/10): I usually get this every time i eat hu tieu. They gave us a big bowl with a decent amount of bones. You can dip this in fish sauce or salt & pepper & lime juice. Overall Thoughts: We got seated quite fast. The server was very friendly and nice. Though sometimes he forgot a few things and we had to ask multiple times. The restaurant is clean and spacious. It's quite loud when it's busy, pretty much like a typical Vietnamese restaurant. I stopped by for the first time this afternoon a little after the lunch hour to avoid the rush. Easy parking - literally in front of the restaurant. I was greeted right when I walked in - no wait for party of 1. The environment is cute - the interior is warm and inviting. There's both regular tables and booths - which I prefer - since it sorta defines your personal space. The menu is simple - two pages - food on the front, drinks/dessert on the back. I was trying to decide between the Com Ga Hai Nam, or the Bun Bo Hue - went with the BBH when I found out the steamed chicken is served cold. Servers are friendly. I had just enough time to browse the menu and decide on what to get before someone came to take my order. They brought out my veggie/condiment plate shortly after my order. Soda Chanh - I knocked off a star for this since the drink was flat! There is a Vietnamese drink that is also called Da Chanh - which is fresh lemon squeezed water - but I definitely didn't order that one, since my Soda Chanh had a few bubbles in it initially. There was some hint of carbonation - but it was otherwise flat! Definitely was not refreshing at all. If I wanted boring water, I would've ordered tea or still water. The Bun Bo Hue though on the other hand - was awesome! Literally one of the better BBH's I've eaten in the area. I requested it without the cubed blood "pudding" - but kept the pork feet. Normally I order BBH without the blood and the feet, but I didn't want to deprive myself of protein in case they wouldn't sub the removed items with anything else. There was a good ratio of protein to noodles - but the broth was perfect. It had just the right amount of seasoning - spices, lemongrass to it. Protein wise - there were meatballs, beef shank, pork hock, and tendon. Generous cuts of tendon. It was amazing! Tendon is one of my favorite Vietnamese noodle soup toppings - and Ghien Mi Go did not disappoint. There were cuts of tendon that was just right (tendon can be overcooked/undercooked). The noodles were thick - like typical BBH noodles - thicker than pho noodles, but thinner than banh canh (udon) noodles. All of this, with the rich and flavorful broth base - made for an awesome bowl. My lunch was almost perfect. The flat soda chanh was a bit disappointing, but I'll either ask them whether there's a fresher soda water available - or just pick another drink to get. Service was great - I had a brief chat with the owner when I paid. Her colleague mentioned that the com ga can be served cold or warmed up (at the customer's discretion) - so I'll know for next time when I come to visit - and I definitely plan to come back in the very near future. read more

But on my recent visit I tried the com ga hai nam and it's my new favorite menu item. I think I will go back next week to get my fix. The staff is also very nice and courteous. Tried this during my Disneyland trip. If you are in the area, definitely go here and try the my kho (dry noodles). Get the egg noodles! They are definitely freshly made (probably special order from a vendor). It's definitely not something you can find in the supermarket (or at least the supermarkets in San Jose where I live). The noodles have the perfect chewiness level. The home-made sauce just go so well with the egg noodles. We ordered with the rice noodles too and it wasn't as good. Our party of 10 needed some comfort food after a memorial service. This place definitely caters to the hu tiêu and mi patrons- wet or dry. Bun Bo hue connoisseurs please look elsewhere. We brought a portion home to go and it was salty and lacked depth of flavor. We had to go to Quan Mii and just redeem my out of state daughter's palate. My particular bowl had too much noodles to broth ratio, but my table mates all finished and were satiated. The greens were fresh and they offered more broth if needed.
