I was wrong it was a bed bug. My friend and I who stayed in the bottom bunk have quarter sized welts all over our extremities. I have had to take off from work, was put on antibiotics and steroids and now am going to have to call an exterminator to check that I didn't bring them back that may home in Long Island. They have denied any responsibility even though I have never had bed bugs and this is the only place I've stayed other than my home in 6 months. Also my husband and my friends husband who were at home have not had any bites, thus the only place we could have gotten them was in this bed that we shared here. They refuse to refund me my money. We have been going to the Finger Lakes region for the last few years, but never stay close to the…read morelake. This time we decided to find a rental closer to Seneca Lake, and this cabin was. The location, was great. Close to many wineries and not too far from Geneva's local town to go out to eat and to Wegmans. Our main concerns are actually with the home specifically. The grounds are beautiful. It looks a little colt like, with the way the houses are set up but well maintained and a very welcoming space for our two small dogs to run. What was problematic for us was the inside or structure. The water smelled horrific. It actually smelt like rotten eggs and it was apparent the water had not been treated in a very long time. We actually went and bought gallons of water to cook with, wash our hands, drink and brush our teeth. Only two of us stayed in the home, thankfully, otherwise the smell would have been even worse with more guests. Next, the grill was filthy and had not been cleaned in quite some time. The directions clearly state the renter is responsible to clean the grill and/or the cleaning crew and neither have happened in a while. It was filled with grease and made us apprehensive to even use it with foil. Another major concern was the front step was loose and rocky. When entering, I almost fell a few times. This needs to be fixed for everyone's safety. The cabin was well equipped with all necessary household essentials, but there are several cob webs that need to be cleaned and the bug zapper is filled with bugs (inside the house) which really grossed us out. We appreciate the zapper there to catch bugs inside the house, but the ceilings and zapper need to regularly be cleaned. Finally, the dishwasher is extremely loud/broken and needs to be repaired so we were unable to use that. What is really upsetting is we emailed the owners and expressed all of our concerns and how the above really impacted our stay and we felt the price was not fair in conjunction with what we paid for (over $1200 for 3 nights) Their response confirmed they would be fixing everything we notated and also made mention they planned to sell their property so they were not really worried about what review I would write. While I understand they are going to be moving on, I took that as quite a smack in the face. Basically saying well, we are retiring and selling so we do not care what you have to say. So conclusively, I felt it was necessary to share a true and candid review. ***changed from 2 to 1 stars because now I'm getting nasty emails from the owner. Unreal I'm being harassed because I told the truth. I tried to work with him via email but they weren't even sorry nor cared and claimed I was "bitching". Oh I'm sorry all we wanted was clean non contaminated water, that must be asking way too much from a $400 per night rental. I edited to add that he's now sending harassing emails with lies because he's upset that we told the truth! He's claiming his house was messy and another claiming we left dog poop - all lies! Unreal he would treat people this way. See the photos for his nasty comments. Also, after all of the harassing emails and nasty comments I decided to look up the owners and found out he was sentenced in a pedophile ring!! Omg- how horrific and now I'm worried for my safety. Makes more sense now especially since he was so rude, nasty and demeaning to us. BEWARE do not stay here!! Just look up the owner, Robert Lawty and you'll read some really disturbing news!! There was an area for the bathroom and a small bedroom. The only downside is that there is nothing like a stove or microwave which would have been good for breakfast. That is the only downside about this place. We had neighbors on all ends, but it was quiet. There is a driveway all the way to the bottom. They have a dock that you can drive and park or walk to. They have an area that allows you to sit on the dock. Only thing with social distancing, you tend to wait. They have a couple of swings on the property as well. This place is close to some of the wineries, breakfast area etc; I'd rent here again, but will seek something larger with maybe more options.

Crave a great Day's Inn or Motel 6? Keep going. A spacious resort with tennis courts and a huge pool. Don't get out of the car. Want to stay in a small, unassuming farm house in the middle of nowhere? If not, let me tell you exactly what you're missing. Once you enter this tiny (3 bedrooms!!) farmstead, you enter an absolutely magical world. The proprietors, Skip and Patty, are not just world class hosts -- they're world class people! Interested in everything, self-deprecating and witty, great fun, they fall all over themselves to make you welcome -- not as valued guests, but as valued friends. Patty can cook up a storm (breakfasts included), and my 4 day, 3 night stay here included savory omelets with fresh fixin's from the farm, and to-die-for blueberry pancakes. Boy oh boy can that woman cook. I arrived with a really bad back, and Skip came up with all sorts of fun and novel ideas to turn me back into a vertebrate. The rooms were simple but lovely, but the biggest surprise of all was the chemistry. Between Patty and Skip, a retired police lieutenant. Between them and their guests. Between the guests themselves. Think Tajikistan!! The other two sets of guests included a fun loving Indian from Calcutta who arrived by motorcycle with his mainland Chinese girlfriend (wife?) and a husband-wife team of Canadian scientists (the wife was a Vet specializing in wildlife, on a brief exchange program with nearby Cornell, and the husband a biologist, specializing in the study of Arctic mammals, filled with stories about wolverines, caribou and bears.). In the morning, I'd wake-up early and sit around talking with Patty and/or Skip. Then the other guests would tumble out of their rooms, and it would be one big party. At night, everyone would return from their day's adventures, laughter aplenty, and we'd sit around laughing and talking, until one by one we'd head to our rooms --with the luckiest guests heading back last, so that they'd have some additional face time with Skip and Patty. Need suggestions of what to do, where to go, where to eat? Count S&P in! Need a Chiropractor? They won't rest until they've found one and gotten you in. What a wonderful experience, which I hope to repeat in due course -- and hope that you will have the chance to share, too!
