Especially when they IMMEDIATELY switch up in attitude the moment you hit no tip. It's one thing to ask for a tip if you're out in the hot sun walking up to cars, that's the only time I consider giving it if the personality doesn't seem too fake. But if I'm walking up to the window, or if there's no line and I drive straight up to the window to place my order, do not put that iPad in my face. Dutch bros needs to change the way they do this, these folks have gone from perceiving tips as compensation for exceptional service, to expecting it as a baseline. You are doing your job, you are working the legal wage you accepted when you signed to apply for the position. Do not play me for a fool and assume just because you asked "what I'm getting into today", that I'm suddenly going to feel obliged to give you free money, that's not how human interactions work. If the employees not walking up to my car, they need to not ask for a tip, Dutch bros needs to instruct their employees of this. I greatly appreciate the good humor of the employees as I slipped into a widdle bit of unexpected madness this evening and I truly thank them for playing along. A small 16oz latte starts at $6.50. If you're a black coffee/cold brew drinker, then prices are reasonable. If you're like me and you prefer some milk/flavor, then add $1 for oat milk. Another .50 for flavored syrup= $8.50 for a 16oz spiced iced brown sugar latte. It was a good latte, but $8.50 is too much and I can see that being hard to justify for most folks.
