A decent enough local gym right by Frankfurter Allee S&U-Bahns. It's reasonably priced and has all…read morethe basic facilities, but don't expect luxury. They charge EUR14 fortnightly, which works out to be about EUR60 per month, minimum 6 month contract. The gym is set over 4 quite pokey floors - the ground floor has free weights and machines, the second floor cardio machines and wellness, the third changing rooms and the upper floor, studio for classes. This haphazard design means you have to go down a floor, naked, with a towel wrapped round you right in front of everyone on the exercise bikes to get to the sauna. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't bother me in the slightest - it's just poor planning and design. Althought it's a nice enough gym and the staff do their best, in my opinion they have got some basic things wrong. For example, the stretching area is pathetic. Very few people stretch either, which leads me to believe that the instructors don't emphasise it - a bad sign. Secondly, the free weights area is so cramped, that it becomes unworkable if there are more than 2 people training. There are no swiss or medicine balls, or other core training equipment. The courses are quite limited, with only one pilates and no yoga classes. One plus point is the large mixed sauna and relaxation area with roof terrace. It's a good basic, cheap local option in the Friedrichshain area, which covers the basics, but don't expect a great deal.

Went here as a visitor. The gym is one of those latte-gyms, where there is a drinksbar etc. The gym…read moreis layed out in 2 levels. Cardio on one level with a lot of cross trainers and treadmills etc. The 2nd floor is muscle-training. The number of workout stations on the 2nd floor is pretty limited as there is only 1 station of each type, so you can risk some waiting time to complete a full range training session. All the equipment is new and it looks good. The BEST part about the gym is definately the view! You can sight-see while you work out. As it is located on the top floor you have a panoramic view of the Kurfürstendam and the Friederic G church etc. So I really recommend going here for 1 or 2 visits if you visit Berlin. Guest ticket price is 30 EUR/day

This location is supposed to be the "best" and exclusive fitness first. However do some parts like,…read moreshowers, reception and decor feel like it still a part of the 90s without a read thread or concept. The gym fails in the details like broken lockers, plastic hangers, old soap dispensers, not up to date treadmills/cardio machines and too much wear and tear on some equipment (like exercise mats). All this in its turn gives the location an ordinary feel rather than an exclusive one. Reception constantly seems to be understaffed, partly unorganised and some of the staff need to shape up their service manner by acting more professional. On the upside does this location have great energy mostly due to the breathtaking view but also since members are friendly and considerate. There is rarely not any wait for machines/treadmills, and there is never "too many" members at the location. Group classes are small, and there is an outdoor running track on the rooftop with occasional group classes. In essence is this a great location in need of upgrades, consistency and maybe better management? It's in the details you distinguish a regular white T-shirt from a quality one. This location needs to do it's homework since it's defiantly not the best.

During a recent visit to Berlin, I tried Aspria Berlin Ku'damm for one week. I'm based in Los…read moreAngeles, where I normally work out at Orangetheory Fitness, which focuses on group-based cardio, strength, and interval training. With that in mind, I was mainly looking for facilities that supported active cardio workouts -- treadmill, rowing, and weights. Overall impression: Aspria Berlin Ku'damm is a premium fitness and wellness club in a prime location on Ku'damm. It features spacious training areas, modern equipment, and a wide variety of classes (yoga, cycling, HIIT). The highlights are a bright 25m indoor pool, an extensive spa and sauna area, and a rooftop terrace for relaxation. Families are well catered for with the Aspria Academy, family pool/sauna times, and there's also a restaurant, co-working spaces, and even a boutique hotel on-site. Areas for improvement: Climate in training rooms - This was my biggest issue. The workout rooms were uncomfortably warm, making high-impact cardio nearly impossible. Windows can only be opened by staff, and while portable AC units are placed at the entrances, they were rarely switched on. With outside temperatures around 80°F and direct sun through the windows, the rooms quickly overheated. When I asked a trainer for help with the AC or windows, I was told, "I am not responsible for that," which was disappointing. In situations like this, staff should take initiative rather than send clients searching for the right person. Thankfully, another trainer was more helpful, but this is definitely an area for improvement. Cleaning of equipment - I noticed very few members cleaned their machines after use. Spray and paper towels are available, but disinfectant wipes would be a more convenient solution. In addition, cleaning after use should be mandatory and supervised by staff. Phone use in training rooms - Several people were talking on their phones while using equipment, which was distracting. Clearer rules around phone use in training areas would help maintain a focused workout environment. Shower supplies - The body wash/soap in the showers was empty on multiple occasions. This should be checked and refilled daily. Summary: Aspria Berlin Ku'damm is a beautiful, well-equipped club with excellent facilities, but I believe attention to climate control, hygiene practices, staff responsiveness, and amenities maintenance would significantly enhance the member experience.

In reality, it turned out pauses were only allowed with medical or work documentation, and even then came with paperwork and restrictions. Not at all the simple, easy process that was promised. I paid all fees (except a disputed €5) and tried to part ways on good terms -- even asked if they could waive just one final month as a gesture, given we live nearby and had plans to return or recommend to friends and family. Sadly, that was met with zero flexibility. Ironically, my family is visiting in December and originally wanted to stay at Aspria for a full week. But I told them not to -- and we'll go elsewhere. Aspria "won" one forced membership month but lost six nights of paid stay and future goodwill. That says a lot about how they treat "loyal" customers. Trust matters -- especially at this price point. Sharing this so others know what to expect.

Most of the equipments are pretty new here, since they're just done with the renovation. They even changed the old weight plates to the new style. Somehow, I have the feeling that the new one is a bit lighter though. I also like they has a small area called "Zirkel"(circle), the equipments there all have monitors and video tutorials, pretty cool. And many other new cool equipments and lots of jogging machines. They also got rid of some old one which I think were great. The changing room looks much nicer. And there is a small rest area with snack machines. One thing though, I've been to this studio for more than a week now. And it is often packed with people. Sometime really have to wait a while till I can use the equipment or tool I need. I guess, because of its location. Secondly, because of the other nearby FitX is under renovation at the moment, so all the trainers can only come here. So I can understand that. Just want to give you a hint, if you planing to come. Overall, I really like the new features and how the studio looks like now. One of the best FitX studios I have visited so far.

Very friendly staff trying to create a nice atmosphere and succeeding at it. Unlike most of its competitors Superfit has these courses which you can attend w/o paying extra. Yeah, you heard right, you pay 18,50€ per moth and you get to attend all courses w/o restriction. Quite fancy, right? When it comes to hardware you'll find a great deal of cardio equipment, an extra section for women (the women's circuit), an ok variety of workout gear and hardware that should suit beginners as well as professionals. But speaking of professional, there could, at least for my taste, by a better selection of hardware for more extensive workouts. The only real bummer is, that you are looking vainly for an area where you can practice your squates and lunges as well as a more free to use space. But overall the mood is nice, the staff helpful, a great mix of people in various stages of training and the included courses range from yoga to the full body intensive workout. See you in the gym!

But the front desk people refused to let me to gym and wanted to see the original receipt of my initial payment. After trying to reason with them for 10 minutes I still couldn't get anywhere. They refused let me talk to a manager, and insisted that I go and get back the receipt. At one point I asked them if they are believing that I might be faking my membership and might be lying. Instead of apologizing and trying to be nicer, they implied that this indeed might be the case. After a 15 minute walk I got back to my place and came back with the receipt. They didn't even apologize. I needed to literally tell them that they need to apologize and just after that I got back a dry: "Hey I am not an asshole. I am just following orders". And the worse part is this is not about the employees but the business culture. Some how they forgot who is paying their salaries and cared about servicing their own customers...
