The dive ship is stocked with gear and the staff was helpful; the staff runs a tight ship so make sure to watch the safety video! There's a basic bath house with simple showers and places to change. The real delight was the diving area itself!! It was great diving among the friendly fish, underwater basketball court, sunken schoolbus, ship and helicopter wrecks, and helpful training platforms. Like many dive shops, Scuba Commander is owned and operated by people who are passionate about…read morediving. It's not hard to get into a discussion about favorite spots, photography, or any other subject around diving. I went in to pick up a lavacore shirt for under my 3mm suit and the had plenty of them in stock in my size. Shop is brand new, brightly lit, festooned with pictures taken by the proprietors and freshly painted! Complete with changing rooms and a class room for teaching PADI certifications. Only two minor misses (one which is being corrected soon, so if this review is a little old, disregard the first), they currently can't do Nitrox and they don't have a pool on-site. They are contracted to do classes with a local university pool, so for getting your certifications it's absolutely a win, but if you just want to try out your new BCD before going on a boat dive, it might be a little more complicated. This is a great addition to Chesapeake and will save many folks a 40 minute drive to other shops in the area. Plus, with planned dive trips in the future, I think Scuba Commander has a bright future ahead of it.

I stay here frequently for tent camping but decided to try a cabin during off season which only…read morerequired a 2 night stay. We had a 2 bedroom which can sleep 6/bunk beds at site 10. The lake view cabins go very very quickly. Since we are all adult we can appreciate the quiet. Open plan with a lovely fireplace and outdoor fire pit. They provided a bundle of wood - but there is wood for sale at specific hours near the camp store. About the wood..... it's a cross between tree cut and saw mill. I paid $7.00 a bundle. Our cabin had a lovely wrap around porch/deck with both a front and back door. Great view as every room had a window including the bathroom. A slight "ick" factor is that the bed had crumbs. They offer everything you could want minus the linen. Side note I have allergies so be aware that a past guest may have had pets. We used sheets as couch covers. We are planning on staying there again. Standing shower, furnished kitchen. No WiFi. I would come back again but only strictly doing off season as it's much quieter.
