When it comes to The Gingered Peach, I can only speak on their holiday orders for now. I came…read moreacross a post on social media about a magazine naming The Gingered Peach as one of the best bakeries in New Jersey. From there, I gave them a follow on social media and checked out their website. Sadly, the bakery is about an hour from where I live, but it's about 15-20 minutes from where I work. However, they usually close at 3 pm, which means I would be scrambling in right before they close or I may not make it at all. Bummer! Needless to say, I saw they do dessert orders for the holidays, so that was my golden opportunity! For Thanksgiving, I ordered a purple sweet potato pie and a banana pudding pie. I got to select the date that I'd be picking up my pies, which was on a day that I had to go to the office. During the week leading up to Thanksgiving, the bakery was closed for regular operations. They were only open for dessert pick ups. The pies were a hit! The banana pudding pie was everyone's favorite. Needless to say, for Christmas, a larger order was placed for banana pudding pie, salted honey pie, apple crumb pie, and mashed potato rolls. Now for Christmas, the bakery was open for regular operations and you had to pick up your pre-ordered desserts at their sister business, Melba Ice Creamery, around the corner. Because it was Christmas Eve and I already had a slew of sweets pre-ordered, I decided not to try to go to the bakery that day. Nevertheless, the goods were a hit again! The only downside is that the crust on the banana pudding pie was a little different the second time around, making it tougher to slice and get out of the pan. It was still tasty though! Would I return? Absolutely!

Courses were perfectly portioned - pear and Caesar salads great start to the meal. We usually go out for tapas and the meatballs reminded my husband of albondigas - delicious. Spinach gnocchi was outstanding - piquant Gorgonzola perfectly soft and chewy gnocchi. The pistachio cake and chocolate gelato also very good. Happy to find a nice restaurant open during lunch hours. Owner very friendly and accommodating to this vegetarian.

My first visit was to try the lasagna which they call Quadro. It sounded interesting with homemade pasta, short rib and cheeses. It looked ok but kind of oily in the container, no bread or salad came with it. The best I can say is that the pasta was indeed fresh and Al dente. The smoky short rib did not work for me as it overpowered all the other flavors. It left me wondering if this was just my opinion and some folks might like this. With that in mind I decided another visit was warranted to try one of their artisan pies. The house special with pepperoni, sausage, peppers, onions and mushrooms was my choice. The personal size was pretty big and looked good from the box. The crust was very puffy around the edges but much too thin in the middle creating a structural error. I'm all for thin crust, trust me. But this was a poorly made pie. The toppings were ok, I liked the pepperoni more than the sausage, the red sauce was fine. My favorite part was the outer edge of the crust that wasn't soggy. So again, I was left thinking what if I had chosen a different pie? The interior has been updated and looked in step for this town. A beautiful dessert case with mostly Italian items( not made in house) was near a poorly lit gelato case that I struggled to identify the flavors contained within. As another reviewer pointed out, service was friendly and prices seemed reasonable. I probably won't get takeout but will possibly give them a few months to improve and go back for dine in. 3.5 stars

Absolutely love a flight, especially if it involves ice cream!…read more This place is so cozy and cute with such unique flavors of fresh made ice cream. This past summer I have been on the lookout for the best ice cream in Mercer County and this place. Definitely takes the cake. The ice cream is soft creamy and fresh and they have such unique flavors as well as seasonal flavors. The ice cream flight is $12 for four scoops of ice cream, which I think is an amazing deal! There's indoor and outdoor seating, but depending on the time of day that you go, they are very busy. But they are in such a nice location that if you would like to grab ice cream and take a walk in the downtown Lawrenceville area you can.

But baby the peri 'pause had me catching the business end of a hot flash while I was running errands a while ago so I decided to finally check out Melba. Truth be told I was all but in before I spontaneously combusted at Shop Rite because they posted their newest flavor drop - Bay Leaf Stracciatella. I ADORE unique and savory ice cream flavors and had to taste it for myself. A woman on a mission, I didn't even think to ask for samples and just blurted out my order without seeing what else was on offer. Oops. Anyway I got 2 skewps on a delicate sugar cone (BTW, much like ICE, waffle cones should be abolished). It was delectable. Not at all sweet, the bitterness of the chocolate was very forward and the bay leaf was reminiscent of soup lmao. The texture was divine. I could be home legs splayed in the air conditioning right now. Instead I'm sitting outside behind Melba getting my entire life. You should too!
