From the menu options to working directly with Mariah, who patiently answered my hundred questions and was so accommodating with all the little tweaks I made to our order, to the delivery and presentation, everything turned out so wonderfully. And, most importantly, our guests LOVED the food! We went with the Mexican menu, along with some appetizers and the Gochujang tofu. My only regret is that I didn't order more of the tofu! We had a few vegetarians in attendance, but EVERYONE was eating it. My husband and I served ourselves last, so by the time we made it to the buffet, there was barely any left. Honestly, though, I think that says everything about how much our guests loved the food! It just gives us an excuse to host another big party so we can have Bites and Bashes cater again. I truly can't recommend them enough. Everyone we worked with was incredibly kind, helpful, and professional, and the entire experience was wonderful from beginning to end. JUST WOW! Thank you, Bites and Bashes, for helping make our wedding day so delicious and special! 5 stars isn't enough of a high rating.

Their team was efficient, personable and even spoke Japanese (we had mentioned this was a Japanese college alumni party). They were incredible to work with and all of our guests had a great experience. We ordered the Spanish Dinner with Paella and had pass around appetizers as well with glass noodles, spicy tuna with cucumber, sliders and coconut shrimp. Everything was delicious with not a single miss!! Highly recommend them for any level of catering as they created gorgeous displays, had amazing food and an efficient professional setup in our kitchen. Thank you so much for everything!!

The communication was great with the entire team: sales rep, the prep team, Chefl, and accounts. My needs were met mostly overall, even though we did over serve way to much food I tried to cut back on, and was told to keep it - it was a per person headcount that matters, I personally did not want to over serve and toss any food in the trash - but they did assure me they would donate it whatever was left and we did have some. They even took liberty to box it all up at the end of the night and pass out what they could. Our two servers during the event were SO nice and helpful. The company set up and tore down so all I had to do was enjoy the event and provide to my team. They served my drinks, kept the food full all for a 4 hour event. They work hand in hand with Santa Monica Picnic Co, which was the set up with chairs and tables to make this event totally amazing on SM beach. The event went so well, and everyone loved it.

Communication was just as strong. Sean and Mary Rose were responsive throughout planning and kept us updated on every detail. On the day, the team was on time and had everything set up before guests arrived. Miguel and the staff were friendly, professional, and easy to work with. They handled the full load-in and load-out, so we never had to think about it. I would recommend Vucacious without hesitation. We would work with them again.

Having been introduced to her services by a very demanding colleague, I've come to depend on her for everything from simple home meals to catered business gatherings to festive parties. She handles all with equal skill and imagination. Having lived and worked in some of the dining capitals of the world, she brings consistently impressive versatility to her wide-ranging menus. Fancy an omakase you'd hope for in the best local Japanese restaurants? Chef Leslie serves up everything from delectable organic cha soba salad to the freshest sashimi to simple Japanese comfort food like yakitori, all consistently excellent. For paella this good I'd have to recommend a trip to Barcelona. You're not going to find Catalan tomato bread closer to home. Need to leave a roomful of clients with a favorable impression? Serve them up memorable mini caviar pies (a personal favorite) and pork sliders. Ever tried Thai bouillabaisse with mussels, prawns and calamari? You owe it to yourself. Staging a Casablanca-themed get-together? Chef Leslie's Tagine of Chicken with preserved lemons is better than anything you'll get at Rick's Cafe short of a kiss from Ingrid Bergman and a rendition of "As Time Goes By." Not only are these meals consistently scrumptious, they're also healthy, featuring the freshest, highest-quality ingredients in mindful preparations that nourish body and soul with equal passion. The same philosophy dictating that what you eat should be a delight to the tastebuds is evident in the beauty of each dish's presentation. Every dish put before you looks as good as it tastes and tastes as good as it looks. In short, Chef Leslie delivers what her company's name promises: a sublime culinary experience."

This tiny Santa Monica wine-and-cheese concept debuted in 2016, and their charcuterie boards earned acclaim from Oprah and The New York Times alike. During the pandemic, Lady & Larder ventured into the sandwich game, and the result was a resounding success. Nowadays, the not-so-secret "Secret Lunch" lineup of gourmet sandwiches is among the best in Los Angeles. The tiny Santa Monica shop shares the block with a Sherwin-Williams and a boxing gym. Cross your fingers for metered street parking on the trafficky block of Pico. Outside, red metal patio furniture is shaded by the overhanging storefront. Natural light runs through multicolored windows to the shop within. The mosaic tiled floor is effortlessly chic. The soaring whitewashed walls are minimally decorated, while shelves and refrigerators are carefully curated with wines, cheeses, tinned fish, and candles. The tablet register is set up on a worn kitchen countertop. Soft, instrumental music immediately feels welcoming. I've visited multiple times for early weekend lunch, and our Toast pre-order was ready upon arrival. We grabbed a table outside, and numerous takeout customers popped in and out during our meal. My favorite was the Disco Only. This elevated turkey club featured an impressive depth of flavor, from the sharp alpine cheese to the rich garlic mayo to the tangy pepperoncini vinegar. The thick-cut Bub and Grandma's sesame bread held up admirably well, and the arugula added a welcome fresh factor. The proteins were plentiful but were outshone by the other components. I also loved the Hot Girl Salami. The sweet-and-hot mustard and crispy baguette accentuated the rich, almost buttery salami. Meanwhile, the Venice Cowgirl was like a cheeseboard on a baguette. The sweet peaches and apricot-habanero jam dominated the subtly rich cheese or thin prosciutto, but the sandwich nonetheless proved to be a unique, summery option worth sharing. Lastly, the Yes, Honey elevated the ham-and-cheese with tangy relish, but the other components felt standard and forgettable. The service was friendly and efficient, and sandwiches ran for $15-20 each. Overall, the food tasted like the Santa Monica Farmer's Market on a premium roll, with sandos ranging from good to excellent. They are worth a dedicated visit if you're in the neighborhood, and I can't wait to work my way through more of Lady & Larder's menu.
