I just passed my LPCC law & ethics exam and thanks to Gerry Grossman's study material. I found the material to be extremely helpful with accurate information, structure and efficiency. It truly made my study preparation a comfortable and stress-free experience. I felt very confident taking the exam and in result, I'm now able to proceed with my career as a California LPCC. Thanks to Gerry Grossman & his wonderful staff! Paul read more

I an and LCSW for a while now. I am familiar with Gerry's products (see below for my background). I took a L&E 3 hour course online this month about Telehealth. It was pretty bad. The course was more than 2 years old and the laws he listed as in process were not accurate. He mostly slowly read the slides. The course could have been presented in half the time if he would speak faster. BACKGROUND of prior use of GG products: I bought the LCSW test prep package more than 10 years ago. I found it satisfactory, but didn't feel well prepared. So, I then bought and completed the test prep package from Therapist Development Center (TDC). ** I passed all tests the first time thanks to TDC.** Amanda at TDC used to work for Gerry and branched off on her own because she thought there is a better way to help people prepare and pass the exam. I credit Amanda and TDC for preparing me and helping me pass first time. read more

I love Gerry and one of my best and favorite professors used to teach for him for a long time, but as the business has grown, an unknown tech person replies to service inquiries who doesn't seem to have any knowledge or ability to help. The offerings have a 1-year expiration but this is not disclosed anywhere on the website, purchase confirmation, etc. which is illegal in California. Please be cautious so you don't end up wasting your hard-earned money as a student or clinician as I did. I am so disappointed. read more

This review is for his MFT national license practice tests. I spent over $200 on the 10 pack practice test and it was the absolute worst experience. I had previously passed 2 practice tests from the PTC website, so I was feeling confident and just wanted more practice before the actual test. However, the tests I got were incredibly difficult and it felt like each question I was trying to solve a riddle rather than answer the question. Which now having passed the actual national exam, I can tell you is not accurate to the actual test. These practice tests had me freaking out and gave me a ton of anxiety for absolutely no reason. It was a huge waste of money, and I only took 3 of the practice tests before my supervisors advised me to stop taking them because they didn't agree with the questions either. This is in hopes that someone else who is taking their test comes along this review and does not waste their time or money!! read more

Awful prep. Confusing rationales and questions; contradicts itself across multiple mock exams. Save yourself the unnecessary distress and anxiety - spend more to receieve better test prep (probably would have done TDC next time). read more

Naw. Don't purchase this one. I took the free practice exam for Gerry Grossman for the LMFT Clinical exam for CA. I knew something was wrong when I saw "self-care plan" as a correct answer for managing a suicide crisis. It was shown as the correct answer. We don't call them "self-care plans." These are referred to as "safety plans" in CA at least. A self-care plan and a safety plan are not the same. A self-care plan is not what a therapist does when a client has identified a suicide plan. Apparently, this company is not Gerry Grossman any more. Triad brought them. I won't be buying this one. I will be sticking with TDC and Ben Caldwell. read more

I made the mistake of initially purchasing the Gerry Grossman study materials for the CA MFT exam. My doubts began to set in when I started taking the practice questions. They were infuriating--several admitted to trying to "trick you," many contradicted each other, and, worst of all, they were NOT representative of what I saw on the actual exam. It was an absolutely demoralizing experience. Fortunately, I made the call to switch to TDC with a couple months remaining before my test and was so glad that I did. Grossman is, simply put, a poorly designed study system -- it overloads you with irrelevant information to memorize without synthesizing or providing any kind of overarching organizational framework or test-taking strategy. As many others have mentioned here, do yourself a favor and invest in TDC. Studying with Grossman felt like I was being tossed in the deep end and left to flail. read more

Buyer beware! I've been using this information to study for my upcoming LCSW law and ethics exam and if anything it's totally confused me. The information is conflicting throughout the testing material leaving me unsure as to the correct answer...not a confident feeling as I ready for this professional exam. read more

BEWARE!! There is no more Gerry Grossman seminars. I am not sure what happened but if you call the number , they are now, Triad Behavioral Health and they tell you that they "bought Gerry Grossman." After spending $465 for an online CEU suite, I had a question about buying handouts. I was told "only Cedrick knows about Gerry Grossman," according to the woman who answers the phone. Called 2x and put on hold for over 5 mins with no answer or voicemail. What a shame for GGS to come to this... I miss Gerry.... read more

I recently purchased the study materials for LPCC California Law & ethics exam. I took the "mock" exams many times and was fully prepared for this exam. But, I failed the exam because everything I had studied was NOT on this exam. Within the first 5 minutes of starting the exam, I thought I was taking a different exam. I'm trying to get a refund for this course, but can't get a hold of anyone! I am so pissed off! Do not waste your money on this! read more

I realize my review may be premature as I have yet to take my Law and Ethics exam for my LCSW. I attended a prep class taught by Natalie Liberman on Saturday, 2/3/18 and was taken aback by the quality of the seminar and the level of experience Natalie brought. The class was 7 hours long (on a Saturday!) but Natalie made it as painless as possible with her wit and attentiveness. I think it's safe to say all of us in attendance were in awe by the level of detail she put into teaching the material and although I've yet to pick a test date, I feel confident that when the time comes, I will pass with flying colors because of the tips that were provided in this course. Bonus: Bagels, coffee, nuts, and chocolate were provided (and very much appreciated) and if you get there early enough, you can find parking in the underground structure and won't have to move your car every 2 hours due to street parking! (This obviously may be different during the week). I will update my review after taking the exam :) read more

I was so nervous taking my Law and Ethics test even after studying the materials provided by Gerry Grossman Seminars. I'm happy to say that I was very well prepared and passed Law and Ethics July 2017! I benefitted greatly from the seminar, the flashcards, and especially the online practice tests. Thank you! read more

Thank you, Gerry! Passed my law and ethics this past March and just last weekend passed my clinical :) I was surprised Gerry was the actual person teaching both classes...and what a pleasant surprise! I found the tips of how to narrow down to the best answer worked really well for me during the test...they will try and trick you! Overall I am so thankful to Gerry Grossman and I hope everyone has a similar experience and we all take big leaps in helping people towards self actualization! I have used Grossman whose strategy seems to be "throw everything at them and see what sticks". Previously, when I took the CWE it was a nightmare--virtually 90% of the material I had spent months and months studying under Grossman did not appear on the exam. I do not exaggerate. Worse still, the wording and reasoning of the questions on the actual exam were totally foreign to just about anything I had seen previously in Grossman. DO NOT USE THIS SYSTEM. Go check out the reviews for the Therapist Development Center. TDC will save you a very significant amount of both time and money. They will get you ready for either exam in about a month, for half the price of Grossman. Half. Consider that. read more

Avoid, avoid, avoid. The practice tests are full of errors with one "correct" answer contradicting other "correct" answers in the same test. $176 for 6 practice tests that probably total two sets of test questions. So, it's the same questions over and over. Gerry Grossman's tests will only confuse you. I did pass my exam, but in spite of reviewing these practice tests. My advice: Pay attention to whether they are asking for a legal or an ethical answer on the CA Law and Ethics. The test itself appears to be written by a bunch of horny men who are obsessed with having sex or fantasizing about having sex with their clients. So also know that legally you can have sex with a client after two years, but cannot terminate therapy to do so and ethically, you should never have sex with a former client. Duh! Probably 25% of the questions deal with therapists having sex or wanting to have sex with their clients. read more

When I use Gerry Grossman's law and ethics exam I passed the first time. When I use Gerry Grossman's MFT clinical exam for California I used it twice and failed it twice. Never again waste of my money. Waste of my time. I called Gerry Grossman's office today and asked for a refund on the test bank that was a waste of time that I had renewed and they offered to sell me more stuff. Don't waste your time with these people. Go with the therapist development center. read more

I wanted to share that with the help of Gerry Grossman Seminars I took and passed both the California MFT Standard Written and the Clinical Vignette Exams on a first take! I am so grateful for their thorough materials and awesome teachers, and will recommend the courses to all my colleagues that are beginning this process. read more

I was initially glad to have materials that seemed to take into account the most recent material on the test. Yet, weeks into using the test banks, I encountered errors of all kinds. Not merely errors where they chose they selected wrong answer, but: missing rationales, nonsensical rationales, and completely incompetent and erroneous rationales. I also experienced question after question where the examiners did not know the meaning or psychological concept they were using, and so the I was misguided. I suffered weeks of heartache before I began to show them my complaints. They promised to look into it. Then it got so bad I just had to ask for my money back; which they gave me. So, hopefully their content team will get their act together. read more

I originally purchased study materials Gerry Grossman for the ASWB-LCSW test, but felt completely overwhelmed by the amount of materials upon receiving them. Some of the audio recordings were helpful, but the theory ones were incredibly dry and dull. They also sent a huge stack of flash cards with DSM diagnoses, which nearly gave me a panic attack... after starting to look through them I knew studying like this was not going to work, so I ended up purchasing study materials from The Therapist Development Center, which were easier to digest. I also attended the 2 day Mock exam with Natalie Lieberman who was FANTASTIC! She made the material approachable and less overwhelming. I'd definitely recommend attending any program where she is the instructor. She gets 5 stars! I passed my LCSW test yesterday on my first try;however, just wanted to note that the questions seemed more difficult on the real test compared to the study materials. read more

Just passed my MFT clinical exam ! And I did it with Gerry Grossman! I used TDC the first time (bc my friends swore by it but I hated it!) around and didn't pass. Then decided to go back GG and passed! 2 weeks of studying nonstop (don't recommend it lol) and I was successful. Do not go with any other testing company. GG is the best! Mock exams are so similar to the actual test questions (some of my test questions were almost identical) and GG teaches you how to take the test and what to look for in each question. Thank you GG!!! read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This program is not helpful at all and deceiving. If you do not pass the exam you are not allowed to have access to the flashcards or test banks after it expires even though they advertise that they would help you until you pass the exam. I spoke with a representative from their company today to ask for an extension and they told me I have to buy the continuation package which I replied that I am not going to waste more money on them when they are clearly not reliable. I do not recommend their material and I am a very dissatisfied customer. read more

I have called, emailed and did everything short of grabbing a homing pigeon to communicate with them to make this right. they stole my money and refuse to refund it despite proof of my adherence to all of their requirements for returning product I had everything for less than a day when I found their only material was broken. they had me mail back the books which were never opened and they refunded me less than 30 dollars of the few hundred they charged me to get study material. I used Grossman for my Law and Ethics exam and failed. After a few people highly recommended the Gerry Grossman seminars for the California MFT exam preparation I purchased the fast track package. These seminars do a wonderful job of teaching effective test taking techniques. The instructors help you to take what you learned in graduate school and reshape to the BBS standards. Furthermore, the courses offer an excellent review of clinical theories and law and ethics. The courses not only helped me pass the licensing exams but also helped me become a better clinician. Thank you Gerry Grossman!!! read more

Okay, I just PASSED my standard written on 09/08/2015. I am giving GG test material two stars because the questions were not even close to the actual exam. Plus GG tends to complicate things. I don't know how many times I yelled "F&$@ You Gerry" because some of his question rationales on the test bank were contradicting with things he said on other rationales. Anyways, I feel GG kind over prepares you and charges WAYYYYYY to much. In addition, his material reads like radio instructions. There is no simplification or to the point. On the actual exam (before changing in January) The questions were REASONING based: Meaning, they were about "what would a good therapist do" kinda questions. GG doesn't have those questions on his test banks: NONE. Instead, they are very logical and treatment based questions that are sometimes irrelevant to what you need to pass the exam. Now, if you already bought GG material and can't get a return- don't fret. There is still hope. Unfortunately, It would take a lot longer to learn the material. I would just start with the harder tests and try to understand the rationales (even though they are confusing). Also, spend a lot of time with the standard written material reading about the ethical and orientations to familiarize yourself. You don't need to "become one" with the theories; just learn the basics (overall goals, objectives and main idea of each). GG does a good job to make sure you are flooded with understanding each theory but really that's NOT so important for the exam. It's being able to answer how a good therapist would perform. With that said, I would recommend the "therapist development center". I was fortunate enough to use a friend's material and WOW.... SO MUCH BETTER. It was simple and questions were very much similar to the exam (standard written before it changes January). For my second exam, I am going to purchase the therapist development center material and go from there. Good luck guys/Gals. Hope this helps. read more

I bought the law and ethics first. I wish I had just bought the whole thing as I ended up buying the whole package. I passed the law and ethics first time trying. The test was set up like Gerry Grossman's. I would recommend buying it. read more

I used the Gerry Grossman test bank in preperation for the MFT written exam, along with the Therapist Development Center's online MFT exam prep. I passed the MFT written exam yesterday, no thanks to the Gerry Grossman test bank. The test bank is very different from the actual exam. (I never got over a 65% on the GG test bank.) Some of the questions on the real exam are similar to the GG questions, but the GG test bank makes you think that you need to memorize lots and lots of stuff in order to pass the exam. This is not true. You need a *working* knowledge of the law, ethics, the DSM, and some knowledge of theories, but the exam is about knowing how to think through vague and uncertain situations where there is no one "right answer;" rather, there is a slightly better answer than the others based on certain clinical priorities of a given situation. The GG test bank does not give you the type of questions that make up the majority of the exam. The actual exam is much closer to TDC's sample exams than GG's sample questions. GG will just give you anxiety (which may lead you to spending lots of money on buying their system...but maybe that's the point). Do yourself a favor, save money, save time and save a lot of anxiety and go with the Therapist Dev Center. read more

I just took the MFT Standard Written Exam yesterday, after many months of practice using GG mock exams. After I was passing them all with 70% or higher, I figured I was sufficiently prepared for the real exam. However, I was horrified by what I found on the exam--the questions did not look anything like what I was used to on GG! They were FAR more specific and verbose, with the answer options all so similar with, for example, four interventions with only one difference between them all (ex: the only difference between A and B is whether a CBT therapist identifies problems or symptoms)...and seemingly every question contained a long narrative description that I was not accustomed to. It was exhausting, I felt so unprepared, I ran out of time and was just randomly clicking answers by the end...somehow I still passed, but I mainly thank my lucky stars and not GG! However, this is why I give GG two stars instead of one. Somehow, it was still enough. Also, the ongoing contradictions, content errors, and formatting errors of the test banks were tiresome. For the Vignette exam I intend to look into TDC, which, based on reviews, seems more in line with what I need. read more

I give it a one star review. I was bitterly disappointed to see that the test bank questions in the Gerry Grossman test prep program looked absolutely nothing like the actual test questions. Even if the content were changed, one might expect the format to be at least addressed, but it was not. I even saw that maybe 10 questions were right off the GG test banks, and it felt like a slap in my face. As if to say, "Sucker! Here's what you wasted your money on!" I felt that the "flood you with content" approach was overkill and unnecessary to pass. While I might know more to be a better therapist, I didn't pay GG for that. I paid them to prep me for the exam to get a passing score, which I did not get. I wasted $800 and 6 months. Plus another $350 to purchase Amanda Rowan's system. Oh, and add to that? My subscription will run out before I can even sit for the next exam. So I can't even use it for the CVE. A total waste of money. GG is a ripoff. read more

I did the Fast Track for the MFT license. All of the materials were organized and provided options for all types of learners. Gerry Grossman is a total fraud. I bought both of his study guides for the MFT exams 1 and 2 but ended up not using either of them to pass my exams after finding SO MANY ERRORS on his test banks- I used ****THE THERAPIST DEVELOPMENT CENTER, WHICH I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I felt confident on test day, and passed both exams on the first try using TDC. I caught SO MANY BLATANT ERRORS AND INCORRECT ANSWERS on the Gerry Grossman test banks, and after emailing him personally, (and him saying thank you for catching them), he STILL refused to refund me for 1/2 of my money...even though I hadn't even opened the test bank for the clinical vignettes. He said his test bank "needs some maintenance" which I think is a complete understatement. I spent more time googling the answers on his test banks to make sure that he was providing me with correct info than actually taking the practice exams. ABSOLUTE WASTE OF $700 and you'll end up wanting to pay to use Therapist Development Center anyway. Do yourself a favor, and don't buy Gerry Grossman study materials. read more

The Gerry Grossman program worked for me. Some of these comments do not make sense regarding the amount of information. It would stand to reason that you need to have a working knowledge of all aspects of your field, this goes without saying. The Grossman program was concise, easy to understand and great preparation for my LCSW exam. I used the newer video course online and am repeating that again because it was so clear and concise. I am using the books to firm up what I am lacking in, and the online test banks to test my knowledge. I also signed up with the Therapist Development Center program. I was disappointed that a "professional" could speak about other programs the way she did. She actually verbally spoke about how lacking other programs were. Ethics??? Hello???? I cannot condone that type of teaching style and lack of professionalism. I am taking my test soon and am excited to say I feel comfortable and almost ready. I have scored up to 78% on some of my online tests, and lower on others. It shows me what I don't know and what I need to study. read more

I used this system and passed the standard MFT exam on my first try. I first tried the TDC system and had to postpone the exam because I did not feel ready. After I purchased the Grossman program, I studied for 2 more months and found their test banks to be the most helpful. I was averaging 70-80% on the test banks before I sat for the real exam. There are some strange questions in the test banks, and the rationale isn't always coherent. However, overall I found the testbank questions to be strikingly similar to the real exam. The real exam was a bit more straightforward. There is no way I would have passed using the TDC program alone, it was the Grossman program that helped me pass. My biggest anxiety before taking the exam was the fear that the prep company materials would not correspond to the real thing...but turns out they are very, very similar! Some of the reviews seem to think that Grossman is overkill, but I disagree. Of course, not all the content is on the exam, but that is to be expected. I needed the comprehensive prep to feel confident, and that is what they offer. Best of luck to you on the exam, my only advice is to embrace the absurdity! read more

I am a licensed MFT! I am happy to say that Gerry Grossman materials helped me to pass both the law & ethics and the clinical exam this year!
