A mechanic's mistaken timing and the result. This is the tensioner mentioned in the post.

I hate to leave such a bad review because this is someone's livelihood, but honestly, this was such a terrible experience that I never want to go to a mechanic again. In short, he was unresponsive, slowww, and made a lot of big mistakes. He was tasked with fixing an oil leak. He then proceeded to seize my engine due to setting the timing incorrectly, and then stopped working on my car. All in all, it took over 4 months to get it back. Just before pickup, when he had to reset the timing, he switched the balance shaft sprockets and in that sense, messed up the timing again, and blamed it on my car! When I came and got it, he blamed the horrible noise it created on the the torque tube or transmission and with that said, he hadn't really investigated. I couldn't handle that awful noise, so I did some digging. After doing some research online and then opening up the car to see, I found the issue ... and reset it all myself. The screw up nearly tore apart the balance shaft tensioner and would have messed up the front of my car. Thankfully I can fix it on my own. If you aren't car savvy, stay away! You will end up with a dead duck and not know why. If you are car savvy, you are going to have to redo this man's work. I paid around 2300 dollars cash. I have tried to call to settle this, but this guy doesn't pick up. Learn from my mistakes. Go to someone else.

I had an issue with the A/C in my 2018 Honda Civic where the passenger side was blowing cold air…read morebut the driver side was blowing warm. After getting nowhere elsewhere, I brought it here and spoke directly with Mike. Mike actually took the time to listen to the symptoms and diagnose the problem instead of immediately trying to sell me expensive services I didn't need. They scanned the vehicle, found a B1235 code related to the driver side blend door actuator, and explained everything clearly. What impressed me most was the honesty. They diagnosed the actual issue and gave me a very fair price to fix it. No pressure, no upselling, and no guessing. Just straightforward, professional service. It's hard to find shops that value diagnosing the root cause instead of throwing parts or expensive services at a problem. Because of this experience, I am 100% going to recommend Mike and his shop to all of my friends and family. Thank you for being honest, knowledgeable, and treating customers the right way. Highly recommended.

IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR AND YOUR TIME DO NOT GO HERE !! I took my car in for a simple oil pan…read morereplacement and engine mounts. They failed to properly seal the oil pan twice and I had to take my car back 3 times! the second time they had used glue to seal the oil pan making a huge mess and voiding my warranty. Not only did it take them 3 attempts to finally reaper the oil pan they also over filled my engine oil by 2 and half quarts and the e fine mounts had to be replaced "again" cause it was quite obvious they never changed in the first place but charged me for it. Now my entire front suspension is compromised either due to them tampering or just the fact they had to drop my front suspension 3 times. Also their main tech isn't ASE certified and is just a "helper " AVOID THIS CHOP SHOP !!

I cannot say enough good things about Speedway Tire and Service. I needed an oil change last minute…read moreand had already called 10-12 different places--no one could fit me in or had the correct filter for my car. I was honestly stuck. Then I spoke with Mike, and he was beyond accommodating. He took me in the same day, handled my oil change efficiently, and made the entire experience stress-free. What really stood out was that Mike didn't just do the oil change and send me on my way. He took the time to walk me through a game plan for my next service and explained what should be addressed moving forward to make sure nothing negatively impacts my engine. That level of care and transparency is rare. On top of that, he filled my tires because they were low--completely on his own, without me even asking. It's the little things like that that show how much he truly cares about his customers. And he even gave me a discount on the price because I was a first time customer. If you need anything for your car, go to Mike. He and his team are professional, honest, and genuinely the best. I've found my go-to shop and won't be going anywhere else. Thank you Speedway.

I called Speedway Tire & Service to see if they were able to see me on a saturday afternoon, and they told me to swing by. Fred helped me out - he was very friendly and non-intimidating (great for a gal going to an auto shop by herself!) He explained that Tesla tires have some foam, so patching the tire for the nail he found would be $50. It was nice he took the time to explain why it was a certain cost, def appreciated. They have a really nice waiting area with seating + strong AC (it was a hot summer day in LA), I was really impressed. Paid by cash because there's a small fee for credit card. 100% recommend this spot - friendly and service was quick. I was in and out fasttt!
